Police raid Hobbs facility linked to disgraced abortionist

In Hobbs, a controversy has erupted surrounding an office space allegedly rented by abortionist Steven Brigham. The office was linked to the Freedom Care abortion facility on the 4th floor of the Turner Street Don Garey Tower office building. This facility was reportedly evicted in July due to unpaid rent, resulting in Brigham’s breach of contract lawsuit against the landlord.

The situation is complicated, with allegations of deceptive practices. According to the landlord’s counterclaim, Brigham misrepresented the purpose of the rented space, initially claiming it was for specialty medical doctors, including cardiologists, without disclosing his true intention of operating an abortion mill. Moreover, Brigham was accused of concealing substantial unpaid liens and judgments.

Steven Brigham has a history of association with multiple abortion facilities across the United States, including the American Women’s Services chain in Maryland, New Jersey, and Virginia, the Capital Women’s Services in D.C., and the recently closed American Family Planning. His practices have faced scrutiny for various violations, including health and safety issues, abortion-related injuries, and lawsuits. Brigham has also encountered legal troubles, including murder charges related to discovering late-term aborted fetuses in a freezer at one of his facilities.

It is worth noting that Brigham has had his medical license revoked, suspended, or relinquished in multiple states, and he is not licensed to practice medicine in New Mexico.

The registration of the Hobbs facility, referred to as NM Medical Offices, LLC, doing business as Freedom Care, raised questions about its true purpose. According to court documents, the facility’s stated business purpose did not match its activities. The facility planned to offer first-trimester surgical abortions and dispense the abortion pill for pregnancies up to 12 weeks — two weeks longer than the FDA’s approved limit.

Additionally, the facility claimed that clients would meet with female healthcare providers. The controversy surrounding this facility intensified when it was revealed that Steven Brigham had signed the lease initially negotiated in October 2022.

Local pro-life advocates believe that Brigham chose Hobbs due to its proximity to an airport and states with stronger protections for children in the womb, namely Texas. Hobbs residents were working to pass a Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn ordinance when Brigham’s facility entered the community. Based on the federal Comstock Act, the ordinance aimed to prevent the shipping and receiving of abortion-inducing drugs and abortion paraphernalia. Although similar ordinances were passed in other cities and counties in New Mexico, legal challenges have emerged, raising questions about local autonomy and federal law compliance.

Concerns regarding the Hobbs facility arose when pro-life activists discovered its existence. The landlord, who resides in Texas, claimed to have been unaware of Brigham’s involvement and the abortion plans. The landlord took swift action to terminate the lease due to unpaid rent, locking the abortionist out of the property. This move also alleviated concerns about potential criminal liability under Texas’ Heartbeat Law, which allows civil enforcement against individuals aiding and abetting abortions.

Law enforcement is now investigating the situation, with a sealed search warrant executed at the Hobbs facility, according to Live Action. The controversy highlights the complex legal and ethical issues surrounding abortion facilities, deceptive practices, and local ordinances in the United States.

Lujan Grisham brags about wasting $10M on taxpayer-funded abortion mill

Far-left pro-abortion up-to-birth Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham recently bragged in a Democrat Party of New Mexico (DPNM) fundraising email about wasting $10 million in taxpayer funds on a new abortion mill set to service Texas women who cross the border into Las Cruces.

“Throughout my tenure as Governor, I’ve worked with Democratic legislators to ensure New Mexico remains a safe place for patients and providers of abortion care and reproductive health care,” the anti-life governor wrote.

She touted her 2021 bill that stripped all protections for women, mothers, and medical professionals and effectively legalized abortion up-to-birth with a door open to infanticide — something already occurring in New Mexico.

She listed “[o]verturning New Mexico’s … abortion ban in 2021, preemptively protecting abortion rights in our state even before the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision” as an accomplishment.

“Crafting and enacting into law House Bill 7, the Reproductive and Gender-Affirming Care Act, to prohibit municipalities and local governments from restricting access to reproductive or gender-affirming care,” she listed, along with “[p]assing Senate Bill 13, Reproductive Health Provider Protections, which I signed into law this year. This codifies my 2022 executive order to protect confidential information of patients and providers of reproductive and gender-affirming care, including abortions, from other states’ criminal liability and discrimination.

S.B. 13 harbors criminal abortionists in the state. It bans the extradition of criminal abortionists and the sharing of information regarding such criminals with other states.

“The work doesn’t stop there. As Governor, I dedicated $10 million from my capital outlay funding for a full-spectrum reproductive health clinic in southern New Mexico,” she bragged.

State Rep. John Block (R-Alamogordo) led the charge to strip the $10 million from the appropriation bill.

Bipartisan legislators later opposed her extremist allocation, but the bill was passed with the governor’s millions for a new abortion mill to kill more babies in the state.

She added that “we can only continue protecting abortion at the state level here in New Mexico if we continue electing Democrats to our State House and Senate, both of which are on the ballot in the next general election.”

Republicans can harness this extreme pro-abortion up-to-birth stand and help stop the far-left fringe ideas of no-limit abortion by similarly funding and promoting pro-life candidates at the ballot boxes in the upcoming 2023 municipal elections and in 2024.

NM Planned Parenthood admits it is nothing more than an abortion mill

Amidst an ongoing influx of patients from Texas, where pro-life policies protect children from abortion, Planned Parenthood centers in New Mexico have finally admitted their true purpose: performing abortions — not true health care.

The overwhelming demand has led to modifications in services and referrals, according to a report from MedPage Today titled “Planned Parenthood of New Mexico Limits Non-Abortion Care Due to Surge From Texas.” This situation, however, raises concerns regarding the allocation of resources and priorities in reproductive healthcare.

“Planned Parenthood clinics in New Mexico are prioritizing abortion” services due to an increasing number of patients arriving from Texas. The state’s life-affirming laws have prompted individuals to seek services in New Mexico, where abortion up to birth is legal.

In response to the surge in demand, Planned Parenthood has been redirecting non-abortion patients to neighboring clinics for family planning, wellness exams, and other maternal health needs. This strategic move aims to “keep wait times down for abortion care. Currently, the wait time is 14 days for an abortion appointment at one of their clinics,” as reported by the outlet.

Adrienne Mansanares, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, highlighted what she perceived to be staffing shortages.

One of the most contentious aspects of the situation lies in the clinics’ approach to abortions. While one location in Albuquerque provides procedural abortion care, three locations attend to medication abortion in person and through telehealth appointments. The timing of appointments for medication abortion is limited to four weeks.

Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains has reported similar challenges in Colorado and Nevada, which are also part of the organization’s network. The surge in out-of-state patient volume from Texas following the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization U.S. Supreme Court decision, which put the abortion issue back to the individual states, has increased New Mexico’s abortion patients due to the anti-life laws employed in the Land of Enchantment. “56% of New Mexico’s Planned Parenthood abortion patients are from Texas, according to data from Planned Parenthood,” the report notes.

During the 2023 legislative session, far-left Democrats rammed through $10 million in state funds to open a new abortion mill in Las Cruces to service Texas as its back-alley abortion mill. It had bipartisan opposition but still passed due to anti-life Democrats holding a comfortable majority in both chambers of the New Mexico Legislature.

In conclusion, the surge in demand for abortion care in New Mexico highlights the complexities of reproductive healthcare access and allocation of resources. The prioritization of abortion services due to out-of-state patients underscores the need for comprehensive reproductive health planning to ensure timely and equitable care for all patients.

Amid radical woke agenda, NM House GOP offering parents legal option

On Monday, the New Mexico House of Representatives Republicans announced at a press conference featuring Rep. Luis Terrazas (R-Bayard) that they are offering parents in the state a parental/guardian consent form that attorneys have extensively reviewed to allow the option to forego the woke agenda being pushed in schools due to recent legislation, including H.B. 7 and S.B. 397.

The House Republicans wrote, “The following form is designed to help parents/guardians explicitly exercise their right to be fully informed prior to their child accessing medical and behavioral health services, or some instructional materials.”

“Parents/guardians are responsible for making educational and health care decisions for their children until they reach the age of majority. A minor child cannot consent to his/her own educational decisions or medical treatment. It is important for parents/guardians to remain engaged and informed with school district staff to ensure their children are receiving the appropriate education and health care. Parent/guardian engagement ensures the highest standard of care.”

The form gives multiple fields for notification, including “any health care services, referral for services, class, lesson, instruction, curriculum, assembly, guest speaker, activity, assignment, library material, online material, club, group, or association concerning transgender ideology, gender affirming care or gender identity,” “abortion,” “contraception and other family planning,” “primary health care,” and “mental or psychiatric care.”

The form concludes, “If I am not given prior notification and the ability to make an informed decision concerning the wellbeing of my child, I withhold consent for the items checked above.”

In an op-ed by New Mexico House Republican Leader Greg Nibert wrote, “Parents have put up with a lot over the last few years, but take away their right to protect the health and safety of their kids, and it is clear that New Mexicans of all ethnic, social and political persuasions have had enough. The nonstop and aggressive march of progressive social policies in New Mexico has finally struck a nerve.”

“I and other Republicans are moving forward with an effort to advise parents on how to inform schools officials of their demands when it comes to their children’s welfare. Republicans are advocating that every parent of a minor child in New Mexico’s public schools sign and send a letter to their school’s administration requiring that they be notified before any gender ideology information, gender altering services, hormone blockers, psycho-tropic medications or abortion services are provided to their child. The recommended form letter has already been reviewed by lawyers who are ready and willing to engage on this important issue.”

The parental notification form to send to their school administrator can be found by following this link. Instructions on using the form are also available on the website (NMHRCC.org/parentpower).

Disturbing truth uncovered about Lujan Grisham’s abortion hotline: Report

According to an investigation by the pro-life group Abortion Free New Mexico (AFNM), Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s recently created “reproductive health” hotline through the New Mexico Department of Health appears to be doing as expected — pushing abortion and only abortion.

According to a recent KOB 4 report, “The governor’s spokesperson says the hotline is also meant to connect women with housing and transportation needs as well.”

AFNM noted, “The representative that answered the call confirmed that she was with the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) and when the investigative caller tells her that she is [eight] weeks pregnant and calling for resources, the NMDOH representative immediately assumes that the caller wants an abortion.”

“When the investigative caller says she’s not sure if she wants an abortion or to keep the baby and asks if there are pregnancy resources, the NMDOH representative gives her phone numbers for pro-abortion groups, ‘All Options’ and ‘ReproCare.’ The representative then circles back and gives the caller all of the Albuquerque abortion centers names, addresses and phone numbers.”

The report continued, “The investigative caller then asks about other resources like maternity homes and housing during the pregnancy,” as previously mentioned were offered by Lujan Grisham’s office. “The investigator is told to call the New Mexico Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (NMRCRC) for housing information. However, upon calling the NMRCRC a recording instructs women to visit their website and fill out their Abortion Fund Application.”

However, according to the NMRCRC website, the group is solely an organization aiding women in obtaining abortions and nothing else. “UNLESS YOU ARE SEEKING ASSISTANCE OBTAINING AN ABORTION, PLEASE DO NOT CALL OUR PATIENT HELPLINE,” the website reads in bold letters.

When the AFNM caller asked the NMDOH hotline about prenatal care and parenting classes, “and was told that all hospitals provide those instead of referring to life-affirming organizations like CareNet that provide free parenting classes outside of a hospital setting.”

Listen to the full audio via AFNM:

Abortion Free New Mexico’s Tara Shaver wrote in response to the revelations from the call, “It is misleading and downright dishonest for the Governor to state that the NM Reproductive Health Hotline is comprehensive. This couldn’t be further from the truth. During the investigation conducted by Abortion Free New Mexico, the New Mexico Department of Health representative had to research housing on the spot and only referred to domestic violence shelters and a radical group that ONLY helps women obtain abortions.”

Last year, there were 11,000 abortions committed in New Mexico, with most of those (6,000) being done on out-of-state women. Abortion up to birth with no restrictions or protections is legal in the state.

Lujan Grisham’s new abortion hotline cloaked in secrecy

The far-left Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham administration recently unveiled its new abortion hotline that is purported to support women’s access to “reproductive health” despite abortion forcibly ending the reproductive process.

The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) website claims it is meant to “help when looking for abortion information.” The hotline is likely to push abortion businesses like the Albuquerque-based Southwestern Women’s Options, the Las Cruces-based “The Pink House West,” and Planned Parenthood locations littered across the state.

No information about life-affirming options other than abortion is noted on the NMDOH website despite many of these pro-life pregnancy resource centers offering free help for women in crisis pregnancies.

The website reads, “Help is available for people of all genders and ages. We can help people from any state. You will not be asked any information about citizenship,” apparently showing an aim to push abortion on illegal immigrant women and attempt to service the “trans” community.

“According to state data, there were more than 11,000 reported abortions statewide last year compared with nearly 4,900 abortions reported in 2021,” wrote the Associated Press.

According to a KOB 4 report, “A spokesperson from the governor’s office says the hotline is run by nurses already working at the Department of Health. They’re from the Epidemiology Division [and] helped with the COVID-19 hotline…. The governor’s spokesperson says the hotline is also meant to connect women with housing and transportation needs as well.”

“Call the NM Reproductive Health Hotline for help when looking for abortion information. Your safety and health are important. We do not share your information with anyone. The hotline is staffed by nurses who can answer questions and connect you to health care. The hotline is open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. MST and weekends 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.,” reads the website.

NMDOH also notes, “You can schedule an appointment with a provider to discuss your options. Please call NM Reproductive Health Hotline (1-833-76REPRO) in order to get information about clinics in NM, as well as wait times.” This appears to indicate abortion facilities are the main push of the hotline, contradicting the governor’s spokesperson.

Despite little to no information available about the hotline, it is prominently featured on the NMDOH website. The hotline remains cloaked in secrecy, but no doubt it is meant to continue pushing abortion up-to-birth in the state where no limits whatsoever exist on abortion, including no standards of care to protect pregnant women or their babies in the womb.

Gabe Vasquez gets endorsement from abortion up-to-birth group

This week, the abortion up-to-birth group NARAL endorsed far-left Democrat U.S. Rep. Gabe Vasquez (NM-CD-02) for a second term, along with other “frontline” Democrats who face tough reelection prospects.

The group’s president Mini Timmaraju wrote in a statement, “We’re proud to endorse this slate of leaders as the first endorsements of our 2024 electoral program. Ensuring they are reelected is essential to taking back the U.S. House of Representatives and moving one step closer to passing into law legislation that will protect and expand reproductive freedom (abortion).”

The only way for a candidate to receive the radical group’s endorsement is by being 100 percent pro-abortion, meaning no limits whatsoever on abortion procedures — a stance that is far outside of the beliefs of average New Mexicans and Americans in general.

A recent Albuquerque Journal poll found that 59 percent of New Mexicans support some abortion limits, while Vasquez, who represents a district he only won by 0.7 percent, backs full-term abortion.

To double down on his extremist stance, Vasquez wrote on Twitter Sunday to commemorate the anniversary of Roe v. Wade’s reversal, “[Abortion] is health care. On the anniversary of the end of Roe v. Wade, I’m recommitting to fight for reproductive care for all women across the US.”

Vasquez faces fierce Republican competition from former U.S. Rep. Yvette Herrell, who has the backing of many big names, including U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

Leftists celebrate NM law harboring criminal abortionists taking effect

On Friday, the far-left George Soros-funded group ProgressNow New Mexico (PNNM) gleefully celebrated an extremist law, S.B. 13, taking effect.

S.B. 13, signed by Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, will harbor criminal abortionists in New Mexico who are wanted for extradition to other states.

Section 4 of the legislation reads, “It shall be a violation of the Reproductive and Gender-Affirming Health Care Protection Act to request from a third party, or for a third party to transmit information related to an individual’s or entity’s protected health care activity with the intent to: . . . (6) deter, prevent, sanction or penalize an individual or entity for engaging in a protected health care activity.”

Section 9 of the bill expressly exempts from extradition criminal fugitives who commit or conspire to commit illegal abortions, so long as the perpetrator remains in New Mexico during the commission of the crimes.

PNNM hailed the extreme law, writing, “SB13 Protects information of New Mexico abortion and gender-affirming care providers, seekers and helpers. This includes protecting New Mexican’s health care information, health care providers’ licenses, prohibiting extradition for the provision of in-state abortion and gender-affirming care, and preventing the state from cooperating with out-of-state investigations.”

On Twitter, the extremist group wrote, “Oh Happy Day,” sharing what they like about the new law.

The Soros dark money organization claimed, “Gender affirming medical care is safe, evidence-based and medically-necessary,” which is not true.

The bill is currently being put up for referendum if organizers get enough signatures to have it put on the ballot.

New Mexico judge temporarily halts Eunice’s abortion lawsuit

This week, Fifth Judicial District Judge Lee A. Kirksey temporarily halted a lawsuit filed by the City of Eunice regarding the state’s newly passed H.B. 7, which attempts to usurp authority from local governments to enforce federal laws pertaining to abortion. The judge paused proceedings at least until the state Supreme Court rules on a case regarding local ordinances.

The City of Eunice argued that the federal Comstock Act makes it illegal to ship or receive abortion medication, which contradicts the new law set to go into effect in June.

Six New Mexico cities and counties have passed pro-life ordinances that would enforce the Comstock Act. Other localities, such as Gallup and Artesia, are considering passing similar legislation.

“We applaud Judge Kirksey’s decision to stay the lawsuit filed by the city of Eunice,” Democrat state Attorney General Raúl Torrez, who filed the motion for a stay, said, adding he looks “forward to definitively resolving this question in the proper forum — the New Mexico Supreme Court.”

Michael Seibel, who represents the City of Eunice in the case, said the judge’s action was not necessarily unexpected, telling the Albuquerque Journal, “This case is not going to be won at the District Court level.”

“We are just trying to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens from an overwhelming of Texas women coming in to have abortions,” Seibel told the Piñon Post

Far-left dark money groups, including the ACLU and Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, have filed briefs in the case supporting Torrez’s attempt to subvert the federal statute.

Heinrich desecrates Memorial Day, uses holiday to promote abortion

On Memorial Day, most public officials used the somber holiday to honor and remember the fallen U.S. soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country’s freedoms.

However, that did not stop New Mexico’s far-left Democrat U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich from politicizing the day to promote his radical abortion stance.

“Service members and their families are stationed according to need. That means 40% of active-duty servicewomen live in states that have banned or restricted abortion,” he wrote on Twitter.

“We have a bill that will make sure they have access to reproductive care, regardless of where they live.”

New Mexicans responded as expected, with Ronnie Lucero of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly writing in reply, “It’s Memorial Day and this guy is talking about killing babies.”

Another wrote, “You are disgusting. Speaking about abortion rights on Memorial Day. I don’t think the unborn fought and died for our freedom. DISGUSTING!”

“When you think @MartinHeinrich couldn’t sink any lower on a day of remembering the ones that served and sacrificed. He [somehow] sabotages this day. By mixing abortion into this day of remembrance,” wrote another New Mexican.

One person opined, “Never miss an opportunity even if it’s disgusting.  Then again you are what you tweet!!!”

Heinrich supports unrestricted abortion up to the date of birth. He is running for a third term in his seat amid rumblings he is trying to position himself for the governorship in 2026, as incumbent abortion up-to-birth Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, a Democrat, is term-limited.
