NM Democrat Party in total chaos: Gag orders, ghosting, and backstabbing

The New Mexico Democrat Party’s promises of unity have unraveled in spectacular fashion. Just a month after being elected party treasurer, Julie Rochman has resigned in a dramatic episode that lays bare the infighting and dysfunction roiling the state’s left-wing leadership, according to a report from the Santa Fe New Mexican.

Rochman, who won her post with 60% of the vote, said her troubles began the moment she extended a hand to newly elected Chair Sara Attleson. “She sort of really didn’t take it,” Rochman recounted. “I stepped in closer so no one could hear me, and I said, ‘You know, Sara, you have to talk to me. We’re going to be working together,’ and she turned on her heel and walked away.”

The April 26 encounter foreshadowed a toxic dynamic that would escalate over the next few weeks. According to Rochman, she was ignored, excluded from meetings, and ultimately pushed out by a leadership clique that campaigned on “unity” but delivered exclusion.

“I was being ignored by the chair and vice chair,” Rochman said. “I didn’t even know weekly staff meetings were taking place.” After enduring what she described as sleepless nights, she decided to resign. “I’m the problem, and I need to go,” she said, despite her lifelong ambition of being an elected Democrat.

The resignation exposes deep fractures in a party that claims to be preparing for high-stakes 2026 midterms, which includes New Mexico’s governorship vacant amid a disastrous tenure of far-left Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.

Instead of organizing and building coalitions, the party brass is more focused on silencing dissent and consolidating power. Rochman said she was handed a nondisclosure agreement containing an unprecedented nondisparagement clause — a “lifetime gag order,” she called it. She claimed, “That’s very Trumpian, and I will not be a party to that kind of thing,” she said — apparently unaware of the irony in using the comparison to criticize a tactic that came from her own party.

To add fuel to the fire, Rochman questioned the party’s supposed commitment to diversity. While the leadership includes an African American vice chair and a Navajo secretary, Rochman bluntly noted that the team lacks representation from New Mexico’s majority-Hispanic population — a glaring oversight for a party that lectures others on inclusion.

“I think it would be good for the party if [my replacement] happened to be Hispanic and spoke Spanish and came from a rural area,” she said.

Party spokesperson Daniel Garcia attempted to downplay the chaos, claiming that “team building” was simply a matter of taking time. But the damage is done. A public power struggle has broken out, and the party’s top officials are off at a conference while their ranks crumble back home.

Despite it all, Rochman says she’ll remain involved in Democrat politics. But her departure is an unmistakable warning sign: the New Mexico Democrat Party is not the unified, progressive machine it pretends to be. If this is how the party operates heading into an election year, Republicans may be wise to grab some popcorn. The Democrats are beating themselves.

MLG, Dems livid after U.S. House passes Trump’s ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’

In a triumphant moment for conservatives and the America First movement, President Donald J. Trump’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill” (BBB) passed the U.S. House by a razor-thin vote of 215–214, triggering an all-out meltdown from New Mexico Democrats and their allies on the far left. Contrarian Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) voted with Democrats on the bill on concerns of reckless spending, despite in 2023 voting to let Joe Biden raise the debt ceiling. Rep. Warren Davidson (R-Ohio) also joined Democrats and Massie in rejecting the bill that protects the Second Amendment and the country.

The historic legislation—a masterstroke of pro-growth policy, border security, and Second Amendment reinforcement—sent liberals into a frenzy. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and others unleashed emotional tirades over provisions prioritizing national sovereignty, economic opportunity, and constitutional freedoms. All of New Mexico’s U.S. House representatives rejected the monumental bill.

“The passage of this bill is a monumental win for American families, small businesses, gun owners, and patriots who believe in secure borders and free markets,” said Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA), who helped spearhead provisions to deregulate firearm suppressors. “This is a 2A victory and a direct hit on bloated bureaucracy.”

But while the rest of the country celebrates, New Mexico Democrats are in full panic mode.

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham fumed, claiming the BBB “attacks Medicaid, jeopardizes food benefits for children, and undermines our progress on clean energy.” She failed to mention that the bill contains the largest middle-class tax cut in American history and reforms long-abused welfare programs to prioritize self-sufficiency and integrity. It does not, however, “attack” these programs.

Even more absurdly, Rep. Melanie Stansbury — red-faced and flustered during a press scrum — declared the bill’s funding of the border wall, Trump’s proposed “Golden Dome” missile defense shield, and national security enhancements as dangerous.

The hysterics weren’t limited to Capitol Hill. The New Mexico Democrat Party joined in, issuing a statement that the bill “will be deadly,” conveniently ignoring that their own party added $6 trillion in debt under Biden with nothing to show but inflation, energy dependence, and open borders.

Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez chimed in with her own apocalyptic claims, accusing Republicans of orchestrating “the largest transfer of wealth from the working class to the ultra-rich in American history.” Her screed overlooked the permanent expansion of the small business deduction, protections for family farms, and tax cuts for tipped workers like waitstaff and drivers — real benefits already lauded by groups like the Job Creators Network and Uber.

Rep. Gabe Vasquez also chimed in with the same tired and discredited talking points, much the same as Fernandez and Stansbury.

In contrast to the doomsday rhetoric from Democrats, industry leaders and advocacy groups celebrated the bill’s provisions:

The National Rifle Association praised the removal of suppressors from the National Firearms Act, calling it a “monumental victory for Second Amendment rights.”

Farm Bureau, Cattlemen’s Association, and National Pork Producers Council highlighted reforms that support family farms and protect food supply chains.

Border Czar Tom Homan applauded new funding to expand ICE operations, enhance wall construction, and combat child and drug trafficking.

The American Petroleum Institute cheered restored American energy dominance and the rollback of Biden-era methane fees.

Claims that BBB will devastate Medicaid and SNAP are baseless fear-mongering. The bill implements eligibility reviews, anti-fraud measures, and streamlined assistance reforms backed by most Americans. Even the alleged $500 billion in Medicare “cuts” are nothing more than trimming waste and fraud, not touching a dime of guaranteed benefits.

And yes — the bill includes funding for the Golden Dome, a groundbreaking anti-missile defense shield to protect against threats like China, Russia, and rogue nations.

At the end of the day, the BBB is about America First. It’s about freedom, prosperity, and security. That’s why the radical left is screaming. They’ve lost control — and the people are taking their country back.

Now, the bill heads to the U.S. Senate. Americans across the nation are urging their senators to finish the job. Let the Democrats wail — the future belongs to those who build it, not those who tear it down.

NM Dem delegates fall in line, pledge to back Harris for presidency

Joe Biden won New Mexico’s primary election earlier this year, securing a significant portion of the state’s delegates. With Biden announcing that he will not seek reelection, these delegates are now falling in line with party bosses and supporting Kamala Harris as the Democrat nominee.

New Mexico’s delegates will attend the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago next month to elect the party’s presidential and vice presidential candidates and set the party’s platform. The state has 45 delegates and three alternates for this event.

Following Biden’s announcement, Democrat leaders in New Mexico expressed their support for Harris. Among the supporters are the state’s 11 automatic delegates, including Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, who praised Harris for her experience as a former prosecutor and her advocacy for reproductive rights.

New Mexico’s congressional delegation also endorsed Harris, with Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez highlighting Harris’ ability to bring “renewed energy, unity, and vibrancy” to the race, despite Harris’ far-left record and divisive rhetoric toward Republicans, young people, and many other groups. The state’s Democrat Party Chair, Jessica Velasquez, and Vice Chair, Manny Crespin, claimed Harris had extensive qualifications and experience.

As Harris began her campaign, she emphasized issues such as economic justice, gun safety, and reproductive rights. She is focusing on attacking 45th President Donald J. Trump, making erroneous claims he is attacking women’s rights, despite her supporting men taking women’s places in sports.

Delegates from New Mexico, including those from various congressional districts, are aligning behind Harris. Some have discussed potential vice-presidential picks, considering candidates from states like North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky to balance the ticket.

Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller, one of the pledged party leaders and elected official delegates, expressed his anticipation for participating in the convention, highlighting the importance of shaping the country’s direction at this critical moment. The nomination of Harris will happen in August during a “virtual” process, which many have noted is undemocratic and lacking transparency, especially since Harris has not won a single vote in the Democrat primary for president.

Unhinged NM Dem Party equates Republicans with domestic terrorists

The New Mexico Democrat Party (DPNM), in its latest attack on Republicans, equated members of the GOP to domestic terrorists in a recent statement released three days following an altercation in northern New Mexico where anti-Don Juan de Oñate demonstrators clashed with a man who was wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat.

A longtime Oñate statue was set to return to Rio Arriba County this year after it was removed following the 2020 George Floyd Antifa riots targeting statues and historical sites. Anti-Hispanic hate groups, including The Red Nation, have attacked Hispanic history and culture by cloaking their protests in supposed care for Native American traditions. These fringe groups, such as The Red Nation, originate out of state.

After a video showed him being pursued by a crowd of anti-Hispanic protesters, the man shot one person. Strangely, in his mugshot, the man was allowed to wear his MAGA hat — something likely done as a political message to attempt to show Republicans as accused criminals.

DPNM, which Jessica Vasquez chairs, wrote in the bloviated statement, “To learn from the past & continually work toward becoming a more just & equitable society, we must remember history as it was, including the colonial injustices & atrocities that are a sad part of New Mexico’s history.”

In the attempt at equating all Republicans to the shooter, DPNM continued, “The aggressor of this horrendous act was a right-wing extremist wearing a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat. After this event, & so many others that have terrorized our country, it is our duty to call the MAGA movement what it is: a radical movement that has emboldened the most heinous extremists in our country to commit acts of politically-motivated (sic) violence.”

It added, “The Republican Party remains spinelessly complacent in condoning political violence as extremists have infiltrated & taken over their party. We will continue to do everything we can to keep them & their MAGA leader, Donald Trump, out of public office.”

The Democrat Party has long embraced and inflamed political violence, including in its fight against slavery, in its opposition to the Civil Rights Movement, in its support for the George Floyd/Antifa riots, and even most recently on Capitol Hill, where a Democrat congressman pulled a fire alarm to attempt to halt a vote to avert a government shutdown.

For holidays, NM Dems promote anti-Hispanic hate groups, pro-abortion orgs

For the holidays, the Democrat Party of New Mexico (DPNM), which is funded by disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, is affirming the radical far-left policies it shares with extremist groups.

In a Saturday email, DPNM wrote, “As Democrats, we try to support our New Mexican neighbors and communities with a giving spirit throughout the year,” then gave a list of “organizations that share our Democratic values and need your support this Holiday Season.”

The groups include the anti-Hispanic hate group “Tewa Women United” (TWU), which promoted tearing down the Soldiers’ Monument in the Santa Fe Plaza. TWU has backed canceling words it deems “offensive” and promotes the “deconstruction of museums” and “monuments,” claiming they promote white supremacy. The group also backs canceling famous artist Georgia O’Keeffe.

Another group the Democrat Party is promoting that share its “Democratic values” includes the racist abortion up-to-birth group “Indigenous Women Rising,” which labels being pro-life as “white supremacy, even if you’re a person of color.” The organization crowdfunds the killing of Native American mothers’ babies through abortions.

Planned Parenthood New Mexico, another abortion up-to-birth group, was on DPNM’s list of groups it is urging its supporters to fund.

Other “social justice” groups the Democrat Party backs include the sue-happy American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the anti-police group New Mexico Center for Law and Poverty, the pro-transgender group “Equality New Mexico,” the enviro-Marxist group Natural Resources Defense Council, among others.

DPNM concluded in the email, “The Democratic Party of New Mexico wants to express our sincere gratitude for your support of the organizations and causes that lift our voices and take care of our people. Happy Holidays and may you and yours have a wonderful New Year!”

The extremist groups promoted by the New Mexico Democrat Party further affirm these fringe anti-police, anti-Hispanic, anti-life, and anti-energy sentiments rest well within the fabric of the Democrat Party.

Dem lawmaker issues non-apology after gruesome comment about slain woman

After far-left state Rep. Liz Thomson (D-Bernalillo) made a gruesome comment about a 21-year-old Santa Fe woman’s brutal slaying, she issued a non-apology via Twitter late Wednesday. Piñon Post exclusively broke the story about Thomson’s comments.

Grace Jennings appeared to have been fatally stabbed multiple times with a sword by Isaac Apodaca, 25, and his girlfriend, Kiara McCulley, 19. Jennings’ neck “appeared to have injuries consistent with attempts to decapitate,” according to criminal complaints filed in the Santa Fe County Magistrate Court.

Instead of grieving the brutal murder of the young woman, state Rep. Liz Thomson claimed the gruesome slaughter could be a “QANON” distraction, referring to an anonymous group known to be demeaned by the left for promoting theories about political events.

The flagrant comments prompted the Republican Party of New Mexico to demand Thomson apologize.

“This tweet is extremely offensive and shameful, and Rep. Thomson has acted beneath the dignity of her state office,” said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce. “The Democratic Party is obligated to condemn this tweet and speak out about this unqualified candidate. It would be unspeakable to accept this tweet on any level, and the DPNM must take responsibility.”

On Wednesday, Thomson’s statement on the matter read, “I responded to a tragic story in a now deleted tweet. I realize that this response came off as insensitive.I was alarmed by details in the story and commenting on the dangers of conspiracy theories. Deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of this soul lost too soon.” She did mention once the words “I’m sorry” or “I apologize.”

But in the same breath as her non-apology, Thomson liked and thanked a commenter on her statement who said, “You’re ok, Liz. You don’t deserve their deceitful, manufactured outrage.”

Thomson has also refused to apologize for other statements, such as those comparing police officers to the Ku Klux Klan and calling concerned parents “low IQ,” among other jabs.

The Democratic Party of New Mexico has not yet responded in a statement condemning Thomson’s insensitive comment.

As of Wednesday, only KRQE News 13 picked up the story in a 25-second segment on the station.

Dems forced to discount tickets to fundraiser honoring cop hater Gabe Vasquez

In an embarrassing turn, the Democrat Party of New Mexico (DPNM) are now being forced to heavily discount tickets to their 2022 “Rising Star” awards event happening Saturday. DPNM is slashing prices for general admission tickets from $100 each to $50.

The dinner will honor far-left cop hater Gabe Vasquez, the Democrats’ nominee for the Second Congressional District in southern New Mexico.

In the original invite from September 3, the Democrats wrote, “Don’t miss your opportunity to meet Gabe, the all-woman Las Cruces City Council, and special guest – Jessica Cisneros, Immigration and Civil Rights attorney who catapulted to progressive prominence for running an inspirational congressional campaign in Texas earlier in 2022.”

Cisneros is the socialist who failed twice in a run for Congress against more moderate Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX). Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), the far-left “Justice Democrats,” and others recruited and endorsed her two failed runs for the seat. Despite that, she is being lauded by DPNM as a “stupendous ‘rising star’ in her own right.”

The dinner will also feature “performances by ballet dancer Than Povi, Latin Pop musician Buddy Abeyta, Jazz musician Tracey Whitney, Zia Queens breakdance crew, and the Atrisco Heritage High School Mariachi Group.”

Previous honorees include one-term Rep. Xochitl Torres Small, who lost reelection in the Second District, to Republican Congresswoman Yvette Herrell, who Vasquez is now running against.

With prices being heavily slashed, it appears the Democrats are having trouble funding the event with willing participants, with the Party stressing that “Rising Star is how we are able to fund our most important Democratic initiatives and support our candidates throughout the year.”

Lawyer responds after Dems launch ‘egregious’ attacks against pro-life group

On Monday, following a rhetoric-filled press release from the Democrat Party of New Mexico (DPNM) attacking the pro-life group, Abortion Free New Mexico, the group’s founders, Bud and Tara Shaver, had their attorney write a letter to DPNM demanding a retraction.

The press release labeled the Shavers as “fanatical extremists” with “ties to domestic terrorism,” among other accusations to belittle the pro-life group, which had a fundraiser with Republican nominee for Congress in the Third Congressional District, Michelle Garcia Holmes.

DPNM also accused the group of sending out “ illegal mailers to Albuquerque voters” and promoting “doctored imagery on a large truck,” among other untruths.

Democrat Party of New Mexico Chairwoman Jessica Velasquez claimed, “The New Mexican Republican Party has an open door policy for fanatical extremists, like Bud and Tara Shaver. Michelle Garcia Holmes consistently aligns herself with the most dangerous MAGA zealots in Republican Party and if elected, she promises to ban all abortions nationwide, without exception for rape or incest.”

Abortion Free New Mexico wrote in a press release of its own, “Never in our pro-life missionary journey have we ever condoned violence of any kind, in fact, we are working to end the ultimate violent act that leads to the exploitation of women through abortion.”

“The Democratic Party of New Mexico (DPNM) are the extremists because they support abortion through all nine months of pregnancy, even when babies could survive outside the womb. According to a recent poll released by the Associated Press, 80% of Americans oppose late term abortions. The fact that New Mexico is the late term abortion capital, is a hard truth that New Mexicans must grasp when considering who to cast their vote for this November,” wrote the group.

The Shavers’ attorney, Angelo Artus, wrote in a statement, “By publishing false statements of fact either knowing them to be false or in reckless disregard for whether they are true or false, you have exposed yourself and New Mexico Democrats.org to potential legal action. On behalf of the Shavers, I demand that you and New Mexico Democrats.org print and publish an immediate retraction of these falsehoods.”

Artus also argued that the mailers accused of being “illegal” were “a constitutionally protected” act of free speech, while the claim of “doctored” imagery was shot down by explaining the true and undoctored images were “the very real consequences of abortion.”

The Shavers added, “We love and value pregnant women from all walks of life and desire to protect them and their pre-born children. We will never waver from proclaiming the truth about the atrocity of abortion and will always stand up for the, ‘least of these’ among us. Our prayers go out to those who support abortion and we hope that those especially in Democrat Party of New Mexico would come to conversion and see how beautiful the gift of life truly is.”

Dem Party-affiliated attorneys attempt to get Trump’s NM attorneys disbarred

On Thursday, it was reported that six Democrat attorneys in New Mexico are petitioning the state Supreme Court to disbar attorneys who worked on lawsuits for President Donald J. Trump following the 2020 General Election in New Mexico. Those lawyers are Albuquerque-based personal injury attorney and Texas-based attorney Michael Smith.

“While the lawsuit did not make any specific allegations of voting fraud or irregularities, it alleged Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver had overstepped her legal authority by authorizing use of the ballot drop boxes amid the coronavirus pandemic,” the Albuquerque Journal reported.

The 31-page petition demands the Court references GOP electors delivered to Congress in case the results skewed from Joe Biden winning the state to Trump.

The petition was filed by former state Democrat Party chairman John Wertheim asking the Supreme Court to appoint a special counsel to investigate and then publicly release the findings of the probe.

The petition was also signed by ex-Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chávez.

The New Mexico Supreme Court previously denied petition requests in February 2021 to investigate the attorneys involved in the Trump campaign lawsuit.

But Chávez, Wertheim, and the other attorneys claim new testimony regarding Mike Pence’s legal counsel Greg Jacob brought forth new details via Democrat U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s partisan January 6th Committee.

“In that memo, Jacob says Trump attorney John Eastman, a Santa Fe resident, proposed the vice president could delay reading the electoral certificates for fives states – including New Mexico – until legislators in those states could certify which of the competing slate of electors for each state was ‘true and correct’ in their claims of victory,” the Journal noted.

It was reported last week that Eastman’s phone was seized by federal agents while the attorney ate lunch in town. Eastman later decried these tactics by the FBI while appearing on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight.

Dem lawmaker who constantly spews hatred demands GOP ‘drop lies and hate’

On Sunday, far-left state Rep. Liz Thomson (D-Bernalillo) posted an op-ed penned by her party’s leadership, including retiring New Mexico House Speaker Brian Egolf and Democrat House Leader Javier Martinez. The op-ed bashed Republican gubernatorial candidates for focusing on the crime seeping through the border and the teaching of the racist Critical Race Theory in schools.

One portion of the opinion piece read, “In the Republican primary for the governor’s race, the candidates keep trying to outdo each other with lies about dangerous ‘illegals’ entering our country, or insisting learning our history and how it impacts us today is harmful to our kids.”

“Behind these lies about the supposed dangers of immigration or learning history, Republican candidates send coded messages to New Mexico voters – claiming falsely that new arrivals to New Mexico are a threat and that minority groups are to blame for all that ails society,” added the far-left lawmakers, apparently attempting to scare off GOP supporters by making false claims of racism.

Thomson shared the post, writing on Twitter, “What my colleagues said! Drop lies and hate, focus on solutions for better future.”

However, Thomson has been a longtime hater of those she disagrees with, even spreading lies, anti-police propaganda, and mocking New Mexicans who had questions about the pandemic virus shot.

Last November, Thomson fully backed banning guns from the state Capitol, calling law-abiding gun owners “gun-toting extremists” while sharing a cartoon comparing police officers to the Ku Klux Klan. She also bashed anyone opposing Critical Race Theory ideas as “racist.”

In December, Thomson shared a post reading, “When you say ‘Let’s go, Brandon,’ you might as well advertise yourself as a nearly politically illiterate, unoriginal, cult-following fool who wandered willingly behind the flock of the loudest voices around you into hating a man that you don’t actually know anything about.”

The post continued that Trump was a “flagrant piece of s**t.”

Thomson wrote, “This is spot on.”

During the recent special legislative session dedicated to redistricting, Thomson responded to her fellow legislators who said the maps being proposed were partisan and gerrymandered, which they were. She said, “You get what you get, and you don’t throw a fit.”

The far-left lawmaker on the most extreme fringe of the Democrat Party has long been known for her nasty and personal attacks against fellow New Mexicans, demeaning them as “uneducated” for asking questions about the virus jab and claiming in one rant, “Anyone who continues to back the orange traitor (apparently referring to President Donald Trump) after the terrorist attack, is forever branded with a scarlet S for seditionist.”

She also called concerned parents asking questions about the jab for their kids “low iq voters.” Then, Thomson snitched on fellow citizens to the attorney general regarding pandemic mandates.

However, she now claims to want to “drop lies and hate” despite her long history of not only sharing hateful content but lying and besmirching those she disagrees with.
