Trump responds to arraignment: ‘This is a persecution, not an investigation’

On Tuesday, President Donald J. Trump traveled from his Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida, to New York City to attend an arraignment hearing on charges by partisan Democrat District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

At the hearing, the president did not speak or show emotion, according to reports. Television cameras were not allowed in the courtroom, but pool cameras were allowed to take photos, such as this one:

Trump pleaded not guilty to all 34 counts lobbed against him by the partisan district attorney, who, before taking office, threatened to go on an unending, merciless witch hunt against President Trump.

Following the hearing and after arriving back at Mar-a-Lago, Trump addressed supporters.

He said, “They want to settle the case, but I want no part of that,” adding, “This is a persecution, not an investigation.”

“The criminal is the district attorney because he illegally leaked massive amounts of grand jury information for which he should be prosecuted, or at a minimum, he should resign.”

He also noted, “Various prosecutors in the DA’s office also quit because they thought President Trump is being treated very unfairly. Oh, I love that. I’d like to meet them.”

In an email statement released following his remarks, President Trump wrote, “EVERY American who believes in justice and the rule of law must stand against this witch hunt. These tyrants cannot be rewarded. They must be completely and unconditionally defeated. Once their hatred and division are stopped, we will find that we have much more in common than we thought. We will be one country again. Together, we will deliver a great rebirth of American freedom. Pray for me. Pray for my family. Most importantly, pray for our country.”

Following the president’s arraignment, the Republican Party of New Mexico chairman, former Congressman Steve Pearce, wrote, “The charges released today only add more questions about the credibility of this indictment. No new information was given in the unsealed documents. Federal and district prosecutors previously decided not to charge the same allegations made against former President Trump almost seven years ago. Prosecuting district attorney Alvin Bragg was rightfully asked today, ‘Why now?’ We all know why.”

Sky-high gas prices on the horizon again in NM, across country

Due to the recent Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) decision to cut oil production, gas prices have already risen eight percent in the United States. The price whiplash is par for the course in Joe Biden’s America, with his “climate change” agenda taking center stage — and consumers feeling the pain at the pump.

“Some forecasters see prices rising by another 10% or 15%, which would quickly boost the cost of gasoline and other types of carbon energy,” one report notes.

The Saudi Arabia-led OPEC is cutting production by 1.16 million barrels per day. This would have been an opportunity for the United States to fill the gap and create lower prices with more domestic production, but instead of thinking of the taxpayers’ costs, the ant-energy Joe Biden administration is going all-in on its environmental agenda.

Biden then doubled down on his “green” agenda, writing in a White House statement, “Recognizing that clean energy as well as energy efficiency, and demand flexibility measures are essential to enhancing energy security and accelerating the energy transition, the Task Force has exchanged information on policy and market solutions to accelerate the deployment of energy efficiency technology, heat pumps, smart thermostats and related awareness raising activities among consumers and relevant stakeholders.”

One week ago, gas price averages in New Mexico were $3.35, according to AAA. Now, averages are at $3.42 and rising.

In 2022, the average national gas price rate was $4.87 during Biden’s anti-energy policies and price war with other countries. He then nearly decimated all of the United States Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) padded during the Donald J. Trump presidency.

The Council on Foreign Relations wrote that in 2021 “Biden announced a release of thirty-two million barrels in exchange agreements and eighteen million barrels in sales, seen as an effort to pressure OPEC to increase production; some experts said it was a novel use of the SPR, given there was no supply disruption.” Now, Americans are facing the consequences of the failed negotiation between Biden and OPEC.

“In New Mexico, lower and middle-class families are the ones who suffer the most from these price increases, forcing many to make the heartbreaking decision of filling up their car or buying groceries. Hard-working New Mexicans should never have to make this choice, especially when New Mexico is rich in energy,” wrote Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce, a former congressman from the oil-rich Second Congressional District.

“[Joe] Biden’s energy policy is a disaster. Gas prices are increasing because Biden has allowed foreign nations to weaponize energy against the United States. We’re witnessing the harmful consequences of losing our energy independence.”

Biden to finally visit southern border

On Thursday, Joe Biden agreed to finally visit the United States’ southern border with Mexico, saying in an address regarding immigration from the White House’s Roosevelt Room that he will visit El Paso, Texas, on Sunday.

According to CNBC, Biden’s plans to curb the immigration catastrophe include “extending a migrant parole process to allow entry and temporary work authorization for up to 30,000 people per month from Venezuela, Cuba, Haiti and Nicaragua. The policy, which was previously available only to Venezuelan nationals, has significantly reduced the number of people attempting to enter the U.S. unlawfully, the White House said.”

Biden said during the speech, “It’s not like people are sitting around a table somewhere in Central America saying ‘I got a great idea. Let’s sell everything we have. Let’s give it to a coyote…They’ll take us on a harrowing journey…then we’re gonna illegally cross the border.”

Katie Pavlich of Townhall.com responded on Twitter, “Actually, this is exactly what is happening and Biden’s catch-and-release policies are enabling a multi-billion dollar cartel trafficking industry.”

Biden said during the presser, “Do not just show up at the border. Stay where you are and apply legally from there…. Starting today, if you don’t apply through the legal process, you will not be eligible for this new parole program.”

Here is more from the press conference:

Biden praised his “border czar,” Kamala Harris, for her response to the border crisis. She has not visited the border a single time while in his administration.

When visiting New Mexico and Arizona during the 2022 campaign to promote Democrat candidates such as open border-supporting New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, he refused to visit the border to see the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by his administration’s weak immigration policies.

Biden’s EPA holding January hearings pushing for more enviro-Marxist regs

On January 10th through the 12th, Joe Biden’s U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will be holding hearings to implement new enviro-Marxist policies aimed at “reducing emissions of methane and other … air pollution from both new and existing oil and gas operations” by “adding proposed requirements for sources not previously covered.”

New Mexico “climate change” believers are already lining up to testify in support of the anti-energy proposal, with claims that more regulation on private oil and gas will help save the planet.

“Melissa Hornbein, senior attorney with the Western Environmental Law Center, said to Kiowa County Press that the anti-energy rules will be “a step in improving a draft rule issued by the EPA last year.” Hornbein noted how the rules will be “primarily targeted at reducing venting and flaring.”

Four Corners-area resident Don Schreiber claimed in the report that “the extraction industry shouldn’t be allowed to continue self-reporting on its methane waste – which he described as the ‘fox guarding the henhouse,’  because the true value of royalties owed to the state remain unknown.”

The 288-page “emissions guidelines” text of the rule includes the word “emissions” 730 times.

The proposal would “limit the use of flares for eliminating venting of associated gas from oil wells. The supplemental proposal would require owners or operators to route associated gas to a sales line, use the gas for fuel or another beneficial purpose, or reinject it into a well for enhanced oil recovery. While the November proposal also would have allowed owners and operators to route associated gas to a flare that reduces methane and VOC by 95 percent, the supplemental proposal would allow flaring of the gas only if the owner or operator submits a demonstration, certified by a professional engineer or other qualified individual, that a sales line is not available and other beneficial uses are not feasible for technical or safety reasons.”

A shorter briefing on the new proposed rules can be found here.

The EPA wrote, “EPA will hold a public hearing January 10, 11 and 12, 2023, to provide the public the opportunity to present comments and information on the Agency’s to reduce methane and other harmful pollutants from oil and natural gas operations.”

More information regarding public comment can be found here.

The Vatican defrocks pro-life priest while letting heretical leftist priests remain

According to a correspondence from The Vatican, pro-life Priests for Life founder Father Frank Pavone, 63, was defrocked by Pope Francis’ Vatican, claiming Pavone posted “blasphemous communications on social media” while citing his “persistent disobedience of the lawful instructions of his diocesan bishop.”

A letter from U.S. Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Christophe Pierre, “I have been informed by the Prefect of the Dicastery for the Clergy that, on 9 November 2022, a Supreme Decision admitting of no possibility of appeal directed that Rev. Frank Pavone be dismissed from the clerical state.”

“As you will know, Father Pavone was a very public and high profile figure associated with the Right to Life Movement in the U.S. His dismissal from the clerical state may, therefore, be a matter of interest among the faithful. In anticipation of that potential interest, the attached statement regarding Frank Pavone is provided for your information, and for release within your (arch)diocese as and if you deem appropriate. The attached statement has been approved by the Dicastery for the Clergy.”

The statement claimed, “Rev. Frank Pavone, the founder of the organization, Priests for Life, Inc., was dismissed from the clerical state by the Holy See on 9 November 2022. This action was taken after Father Pavone was found guilty in canonical proceedings of blasphemous communications on social media, and of persistent disobedience of the lawful instructions of his diocesan bishop.”

“Father Pavone was given ample opportunity to defend himself in the canonical proceedings, and he was also given multiple opportunities to submit himself to the authority of his diocesan bishop. It was determined that Father Pavone had no reasonable justification for his actions. Since Priests for Life, Inc. is not a Catholic organization, Mr. Pavone’s continuing role in it as a lay person would be entirely up to the leadership of that organization.”

It is unclear what specific charges Pavone was laicized under. The Catholic News Agency wrote, “Pavone’s sudden laicization has shocked many Catholics and pro-life advocates. It also raises a host of still-unanswered questions about his case. Among them: What are the specific canonical crimes with which Pavone was charged? And when, and how, was he notified he is no longer a priest? Pavone, for his part, claims that he had no prior notification about the Vatican’s action until contacted by CNA on Dec. 17. Is this plausible?”

According to the “Modern Catholic Dictionary” by Father John Hardon, SJ, “blasphemy” is defined as “Speaking against God in a contemptuous, scornful, or abusive manner. Serious contemptuous ridicule of the saints, sacred objects, or of persons consecrated to God is also blasphemous because God is indirectly attacked.”

Pavone responded to the announcement, saying to Life News, “I have made an irrevocable commitment to defend the unborn and to be a priest. I will not walk away from either one.”

“Ultimately, this is about how the Church will respond to abortion, and whose view of this battle will hold sway in the Catholic Church and beyond. It’s about whom the Church wants to punish: Pro-abortion politicians or pro-life priests. It’s about whom the Church wants to abort: Babies in the womb, or priests who defend them,” he added.

It is unclear why the pro-life priest was charged and defrocked under such accusations, while heretical priests such as leftist Father James Martin are still allowed to spew heretical anti-Catholic doctrines. These include statements supporting transgenderism for children and sharing blasphemous depictions of Our Lady of Guadalupe, among other examples.

NM Dems received big campaign check from disgraced FTX founder

According to financial reports filed by the Democratic Party of New Mexico’s federal political action committee (PAC), the entity received $10,000 from disgraced crypto founder Sam Bankman-Fried on August 31, 2022. He founded the failed crypto exchange FTX, which he used to launder money, according to a federal indictment.

The failed crypto mogul may have illegally taken about $10 billion in FTX customers’ funds for his trading firm, Alameda Research, whose future is also in peril, according to the Wall Street Journal. He is now worth close to nothing after his downfall.

Bankman-Fried was one of the Democrat Party’s largest donors until his downfall. On December 13, he was indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy to commit commodities fraud, conspiracy to commit securities fraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and conspiracy to defraud the Federal Election Commission and commit campaign finance violations.

The disgraced ex-crypto boss gave mostly to Democrats, although some Republicans received cash from him as well. The Democratic Party of New Mexico, however, was one of the largest 25 recipients of campaign donations.

The Democrat Party has not refunded Bankman-Fried’s contribution, nor has it made any public statements regarding taking the large contribution from the accused money launderer.

CNN, Fox Business: Higher gas prices likely on the horizon

According to reports from leftist and more right-of-center news organizations, there is a consensus that gas prices are likely headed upward in the near future.

Due to the Saudi-ruled Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC+) decision to reduce oil output by two million barrels per day could lead to higher oil prices and, thus, higher gasoline prices at the fuel pump, according to Fox Business.

“Gas prices are dropping sharply and are only a nickel more per gallon than a year ago,” Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson, said to Fox. “But with oil being the main ingredient in gasoline, OPEC+’s move could slow this decline.”

CNN added, in a report titled, “Big Oil stocks are pointing to higher gas prices to come,” “The S&P 500 is down more than 17% this year while shares of Exxon, Halliburton and Chevron are all up more than 45%. Oil prices and energy stocks are closely interlinked — so this discrepancy is an odd one and could mean that lower gas prices may not be here to stay.”

“While crude prices are dropping, equities traders appear to be taking on a different bet: They’re hoping that OPEC’s recent decision to stick with supply cuts and Europe’s agreement to cap the price of Russian oil at $60 a barrel will keep the global supply of oil very tight, even if demand drops.”

The report continued that prices are likely to go up, though, according to historical trends, noting, “In the end, the divergence may be temporary: In four of the five major splits between oil and energy stock prices since 1990, oil returned to a rally in the year that followed, according to Bespoke Investment Group.”

Gas price averages across the country are down by one cent versus last week, while down by an average of 14 cents versus last month, according to AAA.

New Mexico’s average gas price is $3.13. The county with the lowest price is reported to be Valencia County at $2.82. Under the Joe Biden administration, New Mexico recorded its highest-ever average gas price of $4.83 for regular unleaded and $5.60 for diesel in June of 2022.

Haaland renames 13 supposedly racist NM federal ‘features’ with ‘squaw’ title

This week, far-left Department of the Interior (DOI) Sec. Deb Haaland announced DOI had removed 650 federal “features” with the name “squaw,” which she claims is a racial slur. In a press release, the Department insisted that squaw has been used as “an offensive ethnic, racial and sexist slur, particularly for Indigenous women.”

The move came after a vote by the Haaland-established “Derogatory Geographic Names Task Force,” which moved to strike the names from federal lands.

“I feel a deep obligation to use my platform to ensure that our public lands and waters are accessible and welcoming. That starts with removing racist and derogatory names that have graced federal locations for far too long,” said Haaland.

In New Mexico, there are 13 places renamed, including Squaw Creek Tank reservoir in Catron County, which is now named “Tin Tank Number Two.”

Other instances include Grant County’s Squaw Creek Ridge Tank and Squaw Creek, now named “Ridge Tank” and “Meason Creek,” respectively, Chaves County’s Squaw Canyon valley and Squaw Creek, now named “Janey Canyon,” and “Squaw Creek,” respectively, Soccorro County’s Squaw Peak, renamed to “Bear Peak,” Sierra County’s Squaw Tit Canyon and Squaw Tit summit, now named “Horse Camp Canyon” and “Grandview Peak,” respectively, Catron and Sierra Counties’ Squaw Creek, now named “Tin Creek,” Otero County’s Squaw Tank reservoir, now named “Lone Butte Tank,” Doña Ana County’s Squaw Mountain, now “Bar Mountain,” San Juan County’s Squaw Spring, now “Tuurkava Paachihpi Spring,” and Sandoval County’s Squaw Peak, now “Tamayameh Kah Sta Mah.”

The DOI press release notes, “Secretary’s Order 3405 created a Federal Advisory Committee for the Department to formally receive advice from the public regarding additional derogatory terms, derogatory terms on federal land units, and the process for derogatory name reconciliation. Next steps on the status of that Committee will be announced in the coming weeks.”

This means the renaming of supposedly racist federal lands from “squaw” is just the tip of the iceberg for Haaland, who is prioritizing social justice over anything else. It is unclear how much the mass renaming of federal lands will cost the taxpayers, who will have to pay to replace signage, maps, merchandise, and all other necessary modifications.

Poll: GOP beating Dems on ‘preservation of American democracy’

Democrats have been screaming in the national media about a supposed GOP-led “breakdown of American democracy,” as Democrat New Mexico Secretary Of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver did while on MSNBC, Americans have a much different perspective.

The claims of erosion of democracy have gotten louder after the 2020 election, where statistically impossible abnormalities put Joe Biden in the White House. Then, on January 6, 2021, as the U.S. Capitol was breached, Democrats screamed “insurrection” and “assault on our democracy” even louder.

But a new Fox News poll just released last week shows Republicans are beating Democrats in the “preservation of American democracy,” with Republicans garnering 46% to Democrats’ 45%.

On many other issues, such as inflation and higher prices, Republicans beat Democrats 55% to 36%, while Republicans crush Democrats on crime, with 52% to Democrats’ 39%.

Toulouse Oliver and other Democrats claiming to be supporting democracy appear not to translate to results in the public eye, with the poll appearing to prove Republicans are better at preserving the Republic than Democrats.
