NM GOP rips Dems’ ‘weak’ convention in fiery statement

On Saturday, the Republican Party of New Mexico blasted the Democrats’ “lovefest” convention held in Roswell, which included scandal-ridden alleged serial groper Gov. Lujan Grisham calling herself and Democrats “bada**” despite their failures in the state.

Here is the NM GOP’s statement on the New Mexico Democrat convention:

This Convention was a weak affair with low turnout and empty seats, showing the waning support of the Governor and the Democratic Party. This lovefest Convention is nothing more than a ‘Democrat Makeover’—underneath the self-congratulations is a real sense of fear and nervousness. These Democrats know they’re in trouble. From Washington to the Roundhouse, progressive Democrats have inflicted pain on New Mexicans and destroyed our great state.

The Democratic Party is an organization that lacks direction. It will continue to promote progressives whose policies hurt New Mexicans year after year. It doesn’t matter who is on the Democratic slate in June. The Democrat members of Congress will blindly follow the disastrous, radical agenda of the Biden Administration that’s destroying America. Here at home, Gov. Lujan Grisham has failed New Mexicans and doesn’t deserve another term. Her progressive policies and authoritarian actions have ruined our state.

The list of her debacles is endless: 40% of our small businesses lost, tax increases, reckless spending, COVID rules (that she personally breaks) that have shattered our economy and stripped citizens of their freedoms, a failed education system, a continuing crime crisis, classrooms filled with untrained teachers, ignoring our border crisis and her call to eliminate our vital oil and gas industry.  This recent legislative session speaks volumes, as the Governor’s wish list went down in defeat. New Mexicans know all this, and voters will make the right decision and boot her out of office in November.

The Democrats are again showing New Mexico their propensity to allow voter fraud. As part of the Convention, people will be voting by phone, absentee ballot and electronically over five days. That’s hardly a secure process.  And why would it take more than a week to count ballots?

The Democrats’ convention was marked by hypocrisy, unsecured elections, and many protesters outside picketing against the Democrats’ agenda.

Dem convention: MLG calls herself a ‘bada**,’ breaks self-imposed mask mandate

Democrats’ 2022 convention, being held this year in Roswell, might just be as fraud-ridden as New Mexico’s regular elections, with the leftists opting for letting their attendees get in the event “virtually” while they can mail absentee ballots for their candidates of choice.

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, delegates to the Democrats’ convention have until Wednesday to mail their ballots, with the final results of convention winners being announced on March 13.

In contrast to the Republican convention held last weekend in Ruidoso which resulted in results being announced the day afterward, Democrats will just have to wait.

According to the New Mexican report

Delegates will be able to vote through an electronic ballot or by phone until 9 p.m. Wednesday. From Thursday to Friday, Democratic Party staff will be “validating and curing ballots,” van Dijk wrote.

The following Saturday, a representative from each campaign will have the opportunity to observe ballot counting via Zoom “as is required in our rules,” she wrote. Results will be announced when the convention is called back to order March 13.

The convention crowds, according to attendees’ social media photos, appeared tiny, likely due to the Democrats’ forced jab mandate for all who decided to go. Vax cards were “required for entry.”

Also, Democrat Party of New Mexico Chairwoman Jessica Velasquez said, “All convention attendees are required to wear a face mask at all times.” According to photos from the event, many had broken the Democrats’ rules — including the Governor.

Roswell’s newly elected far-left Democrat Mayor Tim Jennings, who previously served in the state Senate and voted for partial-birth abortion multiple times, spoke at the convention. He joked, “I get to be mayor on the day of all days: April Fools’,” according to Daniel Chacon of the New Mexican.

Scandal-ridden alleged serial groper Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham took the stage with people holding “MLG” signs and wearing buttons with her signature loud cowboy boots that were passed out during the event, according to reports.

“It’s really good to see over the podium without a box and to see all of you in person, all together,” said Lujan Grisham.

Lujan Grisham said, “Stand if you believe that we have the power to be our badass selves and win!”

Also during the convention, the Governor had a cringe-worthy dance with attorney general candidate Raúl Torrez.

Far-left state Land Commissioner Stephanie Garcia Richard noted how there are anti-MLG protesters outside, claiming in her speech, “We have security in the building today. We’ve got protesters outside because our governor — [Michelle Lujan Grisham] — dared to do the right thing and follow the science and keep us safe.” It is unclear what supposed science Lujan Grisham was following by forcibly masking children, closing down businesses, and making New Mexicans stand in bread lines to buy food over the holidays. Likely, many of those reasons are why protesters picketed the scandal-ridden Governor.

Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver, Lt. Gov. Howie Morales, Roswell Mayor-elect Tim Jennings, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez, and many others did not follow the Democrats’ mask mandate:

During Rep. Melanie Stansbury’s speech, she said, “When I ran to be your governor and won, I mean, sorry, your congresswoman.” She corrected herself, saying, “When I ran to be your congresswoman, I apologize …”

MLG signs socialist ‘free college’ bill costing taxpayers $75M annually

On Friday, scandal-ridden alleged serial groper Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed S.B. 140, which would create a mammoth $75 million per year recurring expense to the state’s taxpayers to fund “free college” through what is being called the “Opportunity Scholarship.”

The far-left bill, which does not include any limits on “free” tuition is forcing taxpayers to shell out even more money. And the merits required to receive the tuition are embarrassingly low, only requiring a 2.5-grade point average, which means students can get low grades and still have their tuition covered.

“SB140 does not provide a semester or year limit on funding. Rather, the program allows funding up to 90 or 160 hours until the student completes an undergraduate degree or degrees,” analysis for the bill reads.

It should be noted that all representatives who voted for the Democrats’ far-left $8.5 billion budget voted for funding this “free” college initiative by passing the budget. Those representatives include Republicans, such as Gail Armstrong (Magdalena), Brian Baca (Valencia), Rachel Black (Alamogordo), Jack Chatfield (Tucumcari), Kelly Fajardo (Tome-Adelino), Joshua Hernandez (Rio Rancho), T. Ryan Lane (Aztec), Bill Rehm (Albuquerque), Luis Terrazas (Bayard), and Jane Powdrell-Culbert (Corrales).

According to the fiscal impact report for S.B. 140, “House Bill 2 as passed out of the Senate Finance Committee also contains $63 million in nonrecurring funding and $12 million recurring funding for the opportunity scholarship program. Altogether, that would leave the new opportunity scholarship fund with approximately $99.5 million.”

Lujan Grisham had a photo-op at Western New Mexico University in Silver City to sign the legislation, joined by far-left advocates of the fiscally irresponsible bill that is a slap in the face to people who paid their way through college without a socialist program’s help.

“Saddling students with insurmountable debt means they can’t start businesses, can’t buy houses; they don’t have real choices about their future,” claimed Lujan Grisham.

Republicans who voted for the actual free college bill include Reps. Gail Armstrong (Magdalena), Brian Baca (Valencia), Kelly Fajardo (Tome-Adelino), Jason Harper (Rio Rancho), and Luis Terrazas (Bayard). Those Republicans who were excused for the vote included Reps. Rebecca Dow (Truth or Consequences) and Joshua Hernandez (Rio Rancho). In the Senate, Republican Senators Bill Burt (Alamogordo), Crystal Diamond (Deming), Ron Griggs (Alamogordo), Gay Kernan (Hobbs), Mark Moores (Albuquerque), Cliff Pirtle (Roswell), and Joshua Sanchez (Grants) joined the radical Democrats in supporting the socialist free college bill.

MLG joined by union boss, masked kids to sign teacher pay hike bill

On Tuesday, scandal-ridden alleged serial groper Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham joined American Federation of Teachers (AFT) union boss Randi Weingarten at Francis Xavier Nava Elementary School in Santa Fe to sign S.B. 1, a bill to increase teacher salaries.

The embattled governor and Weingarten were joined by children wearing masks as Lujan Grisham signed the pay hike, which will increase pay in the state’s three-tier licensure system to $50,000, $60,000, and $70,000.

Weingarten has long been a controversial figure, who still believes children should be masked while at school until the transmission of the virus is “low enough” it hits zero. Her pandemic track record is also horrific. According to The Federalist

Weingarten’s pandemic track record is nothing but an advertisement for anti-classroom learning. From the beginning, it was Weingarten’s AFT PAC that funneled more than $1.6 million to pro-lockdown Democrats and left-wing organizations. At the beginning of April, many of the same Democrats who benefit from the unions’ political donations jammed Biden’s $1.9 [pandemic] spending plan through Congress with the hope that the funds would push schools to reopen. Biden’s spending plan, which was criticized by Republicans, allotted more than $129 billion to elementary, middle, and high schools to use in their reopening efforts, despite the 100 million unspent dollars already designated for school expenses like “cleaning and disinfecting” in the CARES Act. A few weeks later, 52 percent of K-12 districts were still not offering fully in-person classes for all of their students.

Weingarten’s AFT was just one of the hypocritical teacher’s unions that tried to hold taxpayers hostage by demanding more funding in exchange for giving children basic education.

Weingarten, who herself bucked the CDC’s guidelines, denied the CDC’s science. In a March 19, 2021 statement, AFT New Mexico denied the CDC’s science as “lacking” in the “totality” of the “safety strategy,” whatever that means. The union also denied the efficacy of the inoculation, claiming it is “not a silver bullet.”

During the lockdown, Lujan Grisham, emboldened by Weingarten and the teachers’ unions, shuttered schools, leaving many children without instruction whatsoever for months on end.

Not satire: MLG to receive ‘hero’ award from Las Cruces film festival

According to a report from the Las Cruces Sun-News, scandal-ridden alleged serial groper Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, a Democrat, will receive the “Hero” award from the Las Cruces International Film Festival (LCIFF) for “her support of the state’s film and television industry.”

“[T]he award is in recognition of the growth the industry has experienced throughout the state and particularly in southern New Mexico since Lujan Grisham stepped into office in 2019,” the report notes.

Despite her hot mess of failures, including the limiting of the film industry due to her strict pandemic lockdown orders that crushed small businesses and commerce in the state, the LCIFF is choosing to honor the scandalous Governor who paid out $150,000 to a sexual assault accuser.

According to the report, Lujan Grisham is in good company with the so-called “Hero” award, with radical leftists like ex-U.S. Rep. Xochitl Torres Small previously winning the award.

During Lujan Grisham’s tenure, at least 40% of small businesses have closed and the film industry hit a standstill.
“The number of productions shot in New Mexico dropped to zero from an average of 34 productions a month during the first three months of 2020, according to data from the New Mexico Film Office,” New Mexico News Port notes.

Ex-MLG aide claims groping by senator but was mum on MLG sex assault settlements

On Tuesday, a supposed accuser, Marianna Anaya, came forward claiming Sen. Daniel Ivey-Soto in 2015 “groped and pinched” her buttocks while at the Drury Plaza Hotel, which Ivey-Soto denies. Anaya is a former staffer of then-U.S. Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM-01).

Anaya is a far-left activist who supported now-Gov. Lujan Grisham’s failed pro-voter fraud bill, S.B. 8 and S.B. 144, that would have instituted widespread voter suppression and election corruption, is now apparently bringing forth the claim after she didn’t get what she wanted — stolen New Mexico elections.

“You deliberately prevented the bill from receiving a timely hearing, knowing that such delays were an effective death sentence for any piece of important legislation during a short session,” Anaya claimed.

Anaya further claimed that at a recent dinner before the voting bill was considered, Ivey-Soto became “aggressive,” while at dinner where she said she confronted him over said accusations. She claims he “put the breaks” on the bill Senate Rules Committee, which he chairs, because of her.

She wrote, “The way that the bill was slow-pedaled by Sen. Ivey-Soto after this confrontation in his capacity as Rules chair had the indicia of retaliation.”

Anaya hired the same lawyer, Levi Monagle, who participated in the slander of former state Rep. Carl Trujillo (D-Santa Fe), which led to Trujillo losing his seat in 2018. Trujillo’s case happened in tandem with Planned Parenthood lobbyist Juliana Koob, whose dark money organization she represents spread the false accusations against Trujillo.

The attack on Sen. Ivey-Soto, whether true or not, comes at a strangely opportunistic time, where he and Senate Pro-Tem Mimi Stewart (D-Bernalillo) have had their squabbles, even during the 2022 Legislative Session, where she repeatedly clapped back at him regarding him allowing public testimony on the elections bill while in his committee.

Ivey-Soto said in response to the allegation, “I don’t know what happened. I don’t know what the movement was. But I did not reach down and grab her buttocks. I did not reach over and grab any part of her. But I’m not discounting that she has a recollection of that, and that’s why I said I was horrified.” Anaya is calling for Ivey-Soto’s resignation.

It should further be noted that Anaya, being a former staffer of Michelle Lujan Grisham, has not spoken out about the disgraced Governor who paid off $150,000 to a former staffer after he claims Lujan Grisham groped his crotch. Another man has also come forward accusing the chief executive of a similar groping incident.

But after Anaya’s claim, allis of alleged groper Lujan Grisham descended upon Twitter, writing without evidence, “I see you. I believe you. #nmleg needs to investigate this NOW,” as a far-left dark money organization director for “OLÉ” wrote. It just so happens most of her supposed “support” for her claim comes from those who also supported the failed pro-voter fraud legislation.

Interestingly, a well-organized group of dark money organizations that lobbied for the pro-voter fraud bill claimed they believed Anaya, writing, “We hold our elected officials to a high standard.” All of these groups were mum on Lujan Grisham’s sexual assault settlements, as well as corruption by former Democrat House Majority Leader Sheryl Williams-Stapleton (D-Bernalillo), who resigned in disgrace.

PED adopts MLG’s racist CRT standards, demands schools follow or be ‘held accountable’

On Monday, it was reported that Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) has adopted its racist new Critical Race Theory (CRT) social studies standards, which include anti-Hispanic hate, the “LGBTQI+” agenda, among other radical agendas.

The Governor’s newly appointed PED Secretary Kurt Steinhaus said the school districts must adopt the divisive social studies measures.

“The curriculum that’s being implemented in a school district is a reflection of the standards and the beliefs of that community, as communicated from the school board,” Steinhaus said, according to the Las Cruces Sun-News.

The Sun-News writes, “Steinhaus said that the PED will be looking at each district’s educational plans to ensure they intend to follow the new curriculum, and the PED will be checking in to make sure each district is held accountable to those plans.”

Under the new instructions, everything in the classroom will be mandated to follow the PED’s guidelines, which could include textbooks, “videos, movies, websites, apps and other educational sources. All will be under review in the coming months,” the Sun-News added, including:

Each school district and state charter is required to submit an educational plan and budget to the PED annually, which is then approved or returned with questions. Although the districts may not have to choose from the selected list of materials, the materials must have culturally relevant materials and align with the Martinez-Yazzie lawsuit from 2018 that found a disparity in education,  including children of color, Native Americans, English-language learners and students with disabilities.

Districts are “are obligated to report to us actually how they use their instructional materials funding,” Deputy Secretary Gwen Perea Warniment said. “That is in state statute, so we do collect that information. And in fact, we look for cultural relevance in their instructional materials that has also been updated. So in terms of the lawsuit, instructional materials and access to instructional materials is something that we do take very seriously.”

With no wiggle room for school districts to adopt standards that do not include Critical Race Theory, anti-police, and anti-Hispanic hate, it is unclear what the school boards will do. If school boards bind together and all buck the PED’s standards in unison, Lujan Grisham’s PED — if she is still in charge by the time of implementation — will have a better shot of not being replaced by the PED.

Previously, the Floyd school board did not follow Lujan Grisham’s edict mandating the masking of children at school, which resulted in the Governor forcibly removing the duly elected officials and installing state rule in the District. Such overreaching measures can be avoided if as many New Mexico school boards as possible form a pact against the tyrannical mandates.

During the comment period on the changes, over 3,000 pages of comments, most opposing, were submitted to the Public Education Department. Hundreds of New Mexicans, including Piñon Post editor John Block, testified against the racist social studies updates.

Maggie Toulouse Oliver triggered after Dems’ pro-voter fraud bill dies

Shortly after the Democrats failed to ram through their extreme pro-voter fraud bill, S.B. 144, championed by scandal-ridden alleged serial groper Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and far-left Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver, leftists freaked out. But probably the most triggered reaction to that Democrat failure was that of Toulouse Oliver.

On Thursday, Toulouse Oliver sent a frustrated-sounding email, writing, “I am so tired of the obstructionism of our democracy. I cannot sugarcoat any of this: federal voting rights legislation has stalled with the threat of a filibuster. Today, my bill to expand voting rights legislation stalled with the New Mexico GOP obstruction.”

The bill she supported included unsecured ballot drop boxes, widespread ballot harvesting, automatic voter registration, and allowing felons to vote. But Toulouse Oliver insists her failed bill would “increase voter participation” — although the supposed “voters” she is talking about may be dead or not legitimately supposed to be on the voter rolls.

“I’m trying to increase voter participation and ballot access because New Mexico should be a leader on voting rights. Instead, the NM GOP killed this bill, without any debate, due to a procedural rule. Why are they so afraid of more people voting?”

In both the House and the Senate, Toulouse Oliver’s legislation got to debate, but she claims it was not allowed: another lie.

She went on to ask for campaign donations to “remain the leader of democracy,” whatever that was supposed to mean.

Other allies of the Secretary of State erroneously claimed Sen. William “Bill” Sharer’s (R-San Juan) filibuster of her radical was “white supremacy.”

“Filibuster is a monument to white supremacy. It’s a relic from the Jim Crow era,” Justin Allen, a radical supporter of the bill, claimed. “Voting rights is the issue of this legislation. Fighting it is the legacy of segregation.”

Now, as the Democrats head toward the 2022 elections with a massive record of failure during this legislative session, they are still beating the “voting rights” drum, that not only Republicans, but Democrats rejected.

In the House of Representatives, multiple Democrats rejected the leftists’ pro-voter fraud bill. Those representatives included Reps. Ambrose Castellano (D-Las Vegas), Harry Garcia (D-Grants), Patricia Lundstrom (D-Gallup), Willie Madrid (D-Chapparal), Candie Sweetser (D-Deming), and Phelps Anderson (DTS-Roswell). Are these Democrat and independent representatives also “white supremacists” and fighting for a “legacy of segregation,” as far-left radicals claim?

All the biggest victories during the 2022 Legislative Session

The 2022 Legislative Session was sure a rough one — for the Democrats that is. Although there were many long nights and a few all-nighters, New Mexicans from across the state, including so many Piñon Post readers, made their voices heard and secured victories against the Radical Democrat agenda.

Here are some of the biggest victories:

H.B. 156 — Radical Magazine Ban Making Countless New Mexicans Felons

Together, because of all of our calls, emails, and testimony given in House committees, New Mexicans killed H.B. 156, a radical anti-gun bill that would ban firearm magazines containing more than 15 rounds, which would have effectively made many gun owners felons.

The House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee voted to table the radical bill by Rep. Patricia Roybal Caballero (D-Bernalillo). During the committee, a poll of attendees showed that 82 people were against the bill (93%) to just six in support (7%).

Rep. Stefani Lord (R-Sandia Park) called the bill a“pipeline to prison” that would affect low-income families. The committee’s vote was 5-0, with no one supporting it. Rep. Randall Pettigrew (R-Lea) made the motion to table the bill. Our editor, John Block, submitted testimony against this bill.

H.B. 9 — Lockup Firearms or Become a Felon

Another radical anti-gun bill, H.B. 9, sponsored by Rep. Pamelya Herndon (D-Bernalillo), was rejected by the House Appropriations and Finance Committee on a 13-5 vote to table it. The bill would have mandated citizens to lock up their guns, imposing a cost burden on New Mexicans.

“It is unlawful for a person who keeps or stores a firearm to do so in such manner that the firearm is accessed by a minor without the authorization of the minor’s parent or guardian or when used in the commission of a crime,” the bill reads. Our editor, John Block, submitted testimony against this bill.

It continues, “When a firearm is accessed by a minor and used in the commission of a crime, the person who keeps or stores the firearm commits unlawful access to a firearm by a minor and is guilty of a misdemeanor.”

Reps. Patricia Lundstrom (D-McKinley and San Juan), Allison (D-San Juan), Harry Garcia (D-Bernalillo, Cibola, McKinley, Socorro, San Juan, and Valencia), Ambrose Castellano (D-San Miguel, Santa Fe, and Torrance), and Candie Sweetser (D-Grant, Hidalgo, Luna) voted with the Republicans on the Committee to table the bill.  Our editor, John Block, submitted testimony against this bill.

H.J.R. 2 — Radical Eviro-Marxist Constitutional Amendment

For the second straight year in a row, the Piñon Post helped organize New Mexicans to fight this radical enviro-Marxist proposal to enshrine a constitutional right to “clean and healthy air, water, soil and environment; a stable climate; and self-sustaining ecosystems, for the benefit of public health, safety and general welfare.” It was sponsored by Rep. Joanne Ferrary (D-Doña Ana) and Sen. Antoinette Sedillo-Lopez (D-Bernalillo).

The generic and subjective terms encompassed in the bill would open up private entities, state agencies, and local governments to costly litigation, as seen in other states that have enacted similar resolutions, such as Pennsylvania, New York, and Massachusetts.

During the short 30-minute testimony period allowed by Chair Gail Chasey (D-Bernalillo) in the House Judiciary Committee, multiple industries spoke out against the radical proposal. One expert from UNM Law School shared that “Small companies and small businesses might be injured as well” as governments from the bill — harming the little guy.

The Committee ultimately voted 9-3 to table the extreme proposal — making it the second year in a row it has failed. The Piñon Post organized New Mexicans in both years against the resolution. Our editor, John Block, testified against this legislation.

S.B. 14 — Radical 20 to 35+ Cent Gas Tax on the Poor

During a nail-biter victory at around 3:00 a.m. Thursday, the House of Representatives voted 33-33 to kill S.B. 14 by Senate Pro-Tem Mimi Stewart (D-Bernalillo), which would have installed a “clean fuel standard,” resulting in a 20 to 35+ cent per gallon gas tax, harming the poorest New Mexicans.

During the committee process, Stewart erroneously claimed gas prices were lower in California after the clean fuel standard, despite California’s prices being lower before it was implemented. Currently, California’s average price of gas is 135% greater than the national average, according to AAA.

This is the second year in a row the Piñon Post has organized New Mexicans to fight this radical bill, and it looks to have paid off both times. Our editor, John Block, testified against this bill.

[Read more about it here]

H.B. 126 — CRT in State Agencies

This bill by Reps. Tara Lujan (D-Santa Fe) and Pamelya Herndon (D-Bernalillo) would implement Critical Race Theory into state agencies, which mandates the “Chief Diversity Officer” of the state to “lead the development and implementation of proactive diversity, equality, equity and inclusion initiatives in support of the state’s strategic plan to create a culture of diversity, equality, equity and inclusion pursuant to Section 6 of the Diversity Act.”

The bill that would have put Critical Race Theory in state agencies thankfully died, due in part to the Piñon Post advocating against the bill. Our editor, John Block, testified against this bill.

S.B. 8/144 — Dems’ Extreme ‘Wild West of Voter Fraud’ Bill

Possibly the sweetest victory this legislative session was the death of the Democrats’ most desperate, extreme bill imaginable, S.B. 8 (resurrected in the dead of night as S.B. 144), which would have turned New Mexico into the “wild west of voter fraud.”

The bill was a top legislative priority of scandal-ridden alleged serial groper Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, who was hell-bent on ramming it through to enshrine Democrat election fraud forever. It would have legalized widespread ballot harvesting, unsecured ballot drop boxes, automatic voter registration, felon voting abilities, and more in the 165+ page bill that was amended at the last minute to give Democrats everything they could have dreamed of.

But the Democrats got greedy — and they ended up with NOTHING — not even the compromise S.B. 6 bill, which the Senate unanimously passed.

The Piñon Post sent out tens of thousands of emails about S.B. 8/144 and it resulted in New Mexicans sending tens of thousands of emails and phone calls to members of the Legislature to oppose the radical legislation. Together, we killed the voter suppression bill that would have harvested votes from our senior citizens and taken away the voices of low-income, underserved communities. Our editor, John Block, testified on multiple occasions, both in the Senate and the House, against the bill(s).

[Read more about it here]

H.M. 38 — Critical Race Theory and ‘Sensitivity Training’ for Law Enforcers

The radical memorial, which had around an $800,000 backend appropriation through the General Appropriations Act, would have implemented the first steps into putting Critical Race Theory and “LGBTQ sensitivity training” into the police force. It luckily was never given an audience before the full House of Representatives and it died. Our editor, John Block, testified on multiple occasions, both in the Senate and the House, against the bill.

S.B. 202 — Pay Raises for Governor, AG, Others

S.B. 202, sponsored by by Sen. Pete Campos (D-Las Vegas), would have increased the governor’s and all state-level positions’ salaries by a massive amount.

The governor would be paid $150,000 — an increase of 36.36% while all state-level officials, including state auditor, treasurer, and secretary of state would receive a 35.29% increase in salary. The attorney general would receive a 31.57% increase in salary and the commissioner of public lands would receive a 38.88% increase. This fiscally irresponsible bill will pay politicians — who already are of little to no use to New Mexico — even more money. The pay increases far exceed inflation, which is currently at 7%.

The bill never reached the Senate floor and effectively died. Our editor, John Block, submitted testimony against this bill.

H.B. 4/H.B. 227 — MLG’s Hydro Hub Bills

Despite making this a top priority for this legislative session, Michelle Lujan Grisham’s eco-left“hydrogen” bill died early, with both Republicans and leftists rejecting H.B. 4 on a vote of 6-4 in the House Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Committee. The Democrats tried to resurrect it in the form of a zombie bill, H.B. 227 by Rep. Patricia Lundstrom (D-Gallup), but it once again died, being withdrawn from the committee and tabled.

This top Lujan Grisham priority was yet another victory for the reliable oil and gas industry, which the Governor has been hell-bent on crippling throughout her tenure.

H.B. 6 — ‘Clean Future Act’ DEAD

This radical bill by Rep. Nathan Small (D-Doña Ana) would have further crippled energy producers in New Mexico by mandating the Environmental Improvement Board adopt rules that would force the reduction of “greenhouse gas emissions.”

“by 2030, statewide direct emissions of greenhouse gases shall not exceed fifty percent of 2005 levels; and by 2050, total statewide greenhouse gas emissions shall achieve at least net-zero emissions; provided that total statewide direct emissions of greenhouse gases shall not exceed ten percent of 2005 levels in 2050 or any subsequent year,” the bill reads.

The bill never achieved final passage in the House and ended up dying before it could reach the finish line. This was another top legislative priority of the Piñon Post to kill in the 2022 session, and we did just that — killed it. Our editor, John Block, testified against this bill.

GOP successfully kills MLG’s pro-election fraud bill by running out the clock

On Thursday, far-left Democrats rammed through S.B. 144, a far-left bill amended in the dead of night earlier this week to put 165 pages of radical pro-voter fraud language to the formerly two-page bill. The bill included ballot harvesting, unsecured ballot drop boxes for ballot stuffing, automatic voter registration, among other measures to make New Mexico elections less secure.

The chamber abruptly cut off debate after three hours, with multiple Democrats voting against the bill, resulting in a tighter 39-30 vote in the chamber.

State Sen. Bill Sharer (R-San Juan) filibustered for hours, talking about everything from trees to volcanic movement, taxation, water, and camaraderie in the Senate.

“Just let them play. They will figure out how to win the game. Yep, there [have] to be rules, but we just can’t let them do stuff,” Sharer said.

“I really love you,” state Sen. Michael Padilla (D-Bernalillo) said in the final minutes of the filibuster, hugging the San Juan County senator.

“Mr. President, if the only tool I have is a hammer, everything I have looks like a nail,” Sen. Sharer said regarding using his tools of the filibuster to stop the Democrats’ radical election fraud bill.

Sharer successfully stopped the ramming through of S.B. 144 — another major defeat for far-left scandal-ridden alleged serial groper Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, whose legislative agenda has repeatedly failed. Everything from S.B. 14, a gas tax on the poor, to H.B. 9, a radical anti-gun bill, and hydrogen power, has failed.

Naturally, following the Democrats’ gigantic partisan defeat, leftists lost their minds on social media, with leftists claiming they would“report” GOP tweets about alleged“election misinformation.”
