NM Catholic Bishops oppose abortion, assisted suicide bills

Two anti-life bills have been proposed for the 2021 Legislative Session, in another Democrat attempt to kill humans of all ages, from in the womb to terminally ill individuals.

SB-10, the abortion up-to-birth bill sponsored by Sens. Linda Lopez and Peter Wirth will flatly strip critical life-saving statutes from state law, which protects mothers, babies in the womb, and medical professionals. The bill would take away requirements for a physician to do abortions, allow minors to get abortions without their parents, opening the door for human traffickers to exploit child mothers, and take away “conscientious objection” statute, meaning medical professions would be forced to perform abortions.

HB-27, the assisted suicide bill sponsored by Reps. Deb Armstrong and Dayan Hochman-Vigil aims to kill terminally ill patients with poison. One particularly startling portion of the law is a disclosure patients who choose to kill themselves will be forced to sign which acknowledge the following:

“I understand the full import of this request, and I expect to die if I self-administer the medical aid in dying medication prescribed. I further understand that although most deaths occur within three hours, my death may take longer.”

New Mexico Alliance for Life said the bill “would usher in assisted suicide in the state with the highest suicide rate already. It is also considered the most radical bill in the nation by the medical community.” Their bill analysis can be found here.

The two bills aim to distinguish human life of all ages, and thus, the New Mexico Conference of Catholic Bishops reinstated their opposition to the bills. A spokesman for the Conference reiterated, “The Catholic Bishops of New Mexico oppose SB10 and also the assisted suicide bill. The Bishops are actively lobbying the legislators to oppose these bills. Please pray for the success of our work. Please call your Senator and Representative to vote no.”

Other groups, including the New Mexico Alliance for Life, are already organizing pro-life New Mexicans to contact their legislators, and the Piñon Post is organizing people to email senators in the New Mexico Senate Health & Public Affairs Committee to oppose SB-10.

ACTION ALERT: NM Senate to hear MLG’s abortion up-to-birth and infanticide bill on Monday

In 2019, New Mexicans successfully defeated a radical abortion up-to-birth bill, HB-51, which would have stripped away protections for women and their children in the womb and removed “conscientious objection” protections for physicians and medical professionals.

The bill is back in the form of SB-10, the same cookie-cutter legislation proposed in 2019, but this time it is being proposed in the New Mexico Senate, the same chamber where HB-51 was defeated. State Sen. Linda Lopez and Majority Leader Peter Wirth are co-sponsoring the bill, which is a single page (and seven lines in length), flatly stripping the statute off the books–and thus harming countless New Mexicans.

The Democrats believe they may have the votes to ram through the bill, due to the deaths of pro-life Democrat senators and the election defeats of pro-life Democrats by radical anti-life extremists. The newly grasped pro-abortion advantage by Democrats is why it is such a top-priority for anti-life extremists and Democrats in the Legislature.

Planned Parenthood abortion business has already been lobbying New Mexico legislators with misleading and false statements to support an abortion up-to-birth and infanticide bill, as reported on previously.

According to two legislators, SB-10 will be heard on Monday in the Senate Health & Public Affairs Committee, and it is critical for Piñon Post readers to reach out to the legislators in the committee and demand they vote “NO” on SB-10, the abortion up-to-birth bill. Please email the committee members below:

Draft email language to copy into your email:

Dear Senator,

My name is [YOUR NAME], and I am asking you to vote against SB-10, the abortion up-to-birth and infanticide bill proposed by Sens. Linda Lopez and Peter Wirth.

This ill-conceived and hastily drafted piece of legislation (which is only seven lines in length) would flatly strip out a life-saving New Mexico state statute that protects women, children, and health care professionals, of which we all should be mindful.

An essential part of the current law that these senators look to rip out protects health care workers who have conscientious objections to performing an abortion. Without these protections, our health care heroes will be at risk.SB-10 puts doctors at risk of losing their medical licenses and face criminal prosecution or other sanctions.

Also, stripping the statute would remove physicians’ requirements to perform abortion procedures, leaving women exposed to sub-par care.

SB-10 allows sex traffickers and child abusers to take a pregnant minor in for an abortion without any parental knowledge or involvement–not to mention without any reporting criteria.

With this bill, a pregnant mother would be allowed to have an abortion at any pregnancy stage. It is a medical fact that the risk of death or serious injury to women increases to 76.6% in abortions after five months.

This bill is ill-conceived and leaves gaping holes in state law for women to be maimed or potentially killed during an abortion, and I urge you to please vote against SB-10 for the children, the women, and the health care heroes we must protect.

Thank you so much for listening to my concerns and for voting against this bill.

Sincerely,

[YOUR NAME] [ADDRESS] [EMAIL] [PHONE NUMBER]

NM pro-abortion org compares not aborting to not being able to own a credit card

On Thursday, the New Mexico Right to Life Committee released information it received that the pro-abortion group Planned Parenthood had been shipping out misleading flyers to folks all across the state claiming New Mexico’s current abortion restrictions (which are dormant due to Roe v. Wade) are comparable to women not being able to own a credit card or rent property.

The flyer reads, “One of these outdated laws are still on the books today,” adding, “Women aren’t allowed to own credit cards, rent property, or access abortion.” By virtue of Roe v. Wade, legally every single item Planned Parenthood lists is legal in New Mexico and can be obtained on-demand, including abortion up-to-birth.

The flyer then instructs those who receive the mailer to “be bold” and “remove the ban” by tearing off a portion of the flyer requesting personal information and placing it in the mail to send to state legislators. This  portion reads, “Remove the old abortion ban and oppose any amendments that restrict access to abortion.”

“There are also many good people who I personally know who are registered Democrats who are Pro-life and find this material offensive,” said Ethel Maharg of the New Mexico Right to Life Committee. “Many I’m told were confused about this flyer and automatically filled it out and sent the card back. Do NOT mail the card back. It will serve as a petition for them,” she said.

“What I do want you to see is that it is manipulative and degrading to women as if they are stupid. They are glamorizing it with using owning credit cards and property, while we know they target impoverished minorities who will have neither, but will have an abortion because it has been paid for by your and my tax dollars. Since when is it ‘outdated’ to love life? Pay attention to this word. They are using it repeatedly as part of their messaging.”

Gov. Lujan Grisham has outlined legalizing abortion up-to-birth as one of her top legislative priorities in the 2021 Legislative Session, so New Mexicans should begin calling and emailing their legislators requesting they oppose any amendment or bill that would try to repeal protections for women, as the Governor has proposed. In 2019, the Governor failed to ram through her extreme abortion bill, HB-51, however, due to the unexpected death and primary losses of pro-life Democrats in the Legislature, it is more probable she may have the votes to push this agenda forward.

The 55th Legislature opens on January 19 and it is closed to the public. Recently, the Governor erected a fence around the Capitol to prohibit the people of New Mexico from entering the perimeter.

If New Mexicans do not know who their legislators are, they can look them up by address here.

OSHA complaint filed against NM abortion business after staff member dies of COVID-19

On Wednesday, Abortion on Trial, a pro-life group, filed an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) complaint against a Sunland Park abortion facility, Women’s Reproductive Clinic of Sunland Park, alleging that the location did not alert the Department of Health that a member of facility’s staff had contracted COVID-19.

One staff member, Gloria Martinez, died of the virus, while the abortionist himself, Dr. Franz Theard, was previously in an intensive care unit recovering from the virus, alleges the organization.

“Women’s Reproductive Center of Sunland Park is engaging in dangerous practices which have left one employee dead and another one in the ICU due to the contraction of Covid-19. The clinic has failed to report this as required by law,” reads the group’s letter.

“[D]ue to the extreme infection at Women’s Reproductive Clinic of Sunland Park, the Department of Health should immediately implement protective measures for abortion clinics,” the complaint continues.

According to the group, Women’s Reproductive Clinic of Sunland Park is seeing patients despite its “extreme outbreak of Covid-19. Numerous women have been seen recently entering the facility for abortion services without masks, without social distancing, and without there having been any inspection or investigation by the Department of Health or OSHA.”

One other point made in the letter is that the vacuum aspirator machines used to kill children through abortions may “lead to aerosolization of droplets which contain the Covid-19 virus,” and as such, the abortion facility “could be the source of a super spreader event.”

Ethel Maharg of New Mexico Right to Life commented on the issue saying “No quarantine restrictions are adhered to, yet no police are being dispatched there to make certain they are not violating the health order. No citations are issued, and no one is going to jail. This is clearly hypocrisy as women are allowed to choose abortion, yet we are not allowed to live our lives as free citizens. Where is the right to choose here?”

Jamie Jeffries, executive director of Abortion On Trial, said, “The way this doctor dropped the ball on handling a Covid-19 outbreak in his clinic is simply unacceptable. When healthcare providers are the source of a public health crisis the state needs to step in and do something to protect their citizens.”

There has not been word back yet from Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s office on the complaint. If the Governor’s office does wish to comment, this article will be updated with their response.

MLG claims GOP trying to ‘rob the soul of our state’ by working to defeat Ben Ray Luján

Ben Ray Luján is spooked out of his wits at the prospect of Republicans; specifically, his GOP opponent Mark Ronchetti winning the open U.S. Senate seat and other races across the nation. In a rare move, Luján had Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (who may or may not be his cousin) sign an email for him asking for donations.

Lujan Grisham wrote in the email:

I’m proud to be the governor of New Mexico every day.

But right now, I need your urgent help to protect it. Here’s why:

— First, Trump barged into New Mexico, held a massive rally, and pledged to turn us red.

— Then, Republicans launched hundreds of thousands in attack ads to take Ben Ray down.

— Now, alarming new polls show Republicans are just SINGLE digits from overtaking him.

We cannot allow Trump and his Republicans to flood New Mexico with cash and rob the soul of our state for their political gain.

Will you rush $10 before the 72-hour deadline to ensure Ben Ray WINS this Senate race?

The move by Lujan Grisham to sign email copy for Luján may mean Republicans truly have a shot at taking the Senate seat, with the Left freaking out, at least through email correspondence, with doom and gloom rhetoric claiming the President of the United States (including New Mexico) “barged” into the state (despite it being in the United States), among other heated lines.

Particularly noteworthy is Lujan Grisham’s plea that Trump and his Republican friends are “robbing” the “soul” of our state for political gain when in reality, Lujan Grisham and Luján have been on the forefront of anti-New Mexico policies that are harming New Mexico and the economy.

Some such policies that are noteworthy include their obsession with legalizing abortion up-to-birth and infanticide in New Mexico. Lujan Grisham pushed hard for a bill to strip protections in state statute for unborn infants, which the Democrat Legislature overwhelmingly rejected. Luján refused to sign onto a bipartisan bill called the “Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act,” which would have given basic medical care to babies born through a failed abortion, which his fellow New Mexico Democrat representatives Deb Haaland and Xochitl Torres Small also refused to sign onto.

Lujan Grisham also passed New Mexico’s “mini” Green New Deal, aiming to wipe out all state oil production. At the same time, Luján has endorsed the actual Green New Deal championed by New York socialist Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Lujan Grisham signed a bill stripping counties’ “Right to Work” ordinances away, forcing people to join bureaucratic unions that eat away at workers’ paychecks, as well as bills to raise working families’ taxes. She also supports taxing seniors’ Social Security checks, which folks have paid into their entire working lives.

Now, as President Trump has signaled he may be coming to New Mexico soon, Lujan Grisham and her (cousin?) are running scared, flinging any heated rhetoric at all at the wall, hoping something, anything sticks.

Our New Mexico unrecognizable

In 1954, the Johnson Amendment was passed in an effort to bar churches from speaking out against the government and from publicly supporting political policies. It’s a nonprofit filing that ensures the church does not have to pay property tax, yet this amendment single-handedly removes any voice from the church.

In an age when the NFL has stolen Sundays from most Americans and has recently imposed a fine on players who attend mass with greater than 25% capacity, why have we allowed their voice to be greater than that of the church? Is this true separation of church and state or government control based on tax status?

Why is this important? Our values and way of life are being mocked and stripped away by our own local officials. We have been under Democratic control for over 90 years and continue to elect people who have never truly had New Mexicans at heart.

New Mexico is a Democratic stronghold for the late-term abortion industry. There are thousands and thousands of abortion dollars flowing into the campaigns of Reps. Ben Ray Lujan, Xochitl Torres Small, and congressional candidate Teresa Leger Fernandez. Why? Colorado will vote in November on Initiative 120 to ban late-term abortion. While this is great news this would ensure these providers make New Mexico their new home, driving excess abortion traffic into the state. The current makeup of our local government and Democratic stronghold would ensure this massacre would continue in NM.

The University of New Mexico is currently training the next generation of abortion providers and allowed a sign to hang reading, “HEROES WORK HERE” outside of their late-term abortion facility for weeks. After the tireless efforts by Bud and Tara Shaver of “AbortionFreeNM,” Father Stephen Imbarrato, and many others, the sign was ultimately taken down.

New Mexico is currently unrecognizable with minimal church attendance, red flag gun laws, late-term abortion, and transgender storytimes for pre-K and kindergarteners, supported by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, the New Mexico Public Education Department, the City of Albuquerque, and New Mexico Highlands University.

If this “pandemic” and last legislative session have taught us anything, it’s that our local officials are far more extreme than the average New Mexican could have ever imagined. We as a people cannot sit back and allow these government sellouts to belittle our church, our values, and our way of life. It is not time to live in fear of a virus that has a 99.97% survival rate waiting for a vaccine that is developed off the cells of aborted fetal tissues. Support the land and values that our grandfathers fought for because at this rate, what will we pass on to our own grandchildren?

Abortion up-to-birth group ‘EMILY’s List’ applauds anti-life extremists ousting pro-life Dems in primary

For Democrat female candidates, an endorsement from abortion up-to-birth dark money group EMILY’s List essentially makes them a shoo-in to win their primaries, as New Mexicans saw last Tuesday with the EMILY’s List-backed, Teresa Leger de Fernandez, as the Democrat nominee who will face pro-life Republican Alexis Martinez Johnson in the November General Election.

During an October high-dollar “happy hour” held for Leger de Fernandez in Santa Fe with EMILY’s List founder Ellen Malcolm, Martinez Johnson helped organize a peaceful protest against the anti-life organization’s event, with state Senate candidate Joey Tiano joining in the picket line.

But EMILY’s List has been working this election cycle to prop up abortion up-to-birth Democrat women to take out pro-life Democrats who went against Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s 2019 bill, HB-51, which would have legalized abortion up-to-birth for any reason, and ripped away protections for minors, and not required a board-certified doctor to perform the risky procedure.

And many of EMILY’s List’s candidates were successful, including Siah Correa Hemphill who took out appointed Democrat Sen. Gabriel Ramos in District 28, and Pam Cordova, who took out Democrat Sen. Clemente Sanchez in District 30. Other pro-life Democrats ousted by radical pro-abortion candidates included powerful Finance Committee Chairman Sen. John Arthur Smith, Senate President Pro Tem Sen. Marie Kay Papen, and Sen. Richard Martinez, who was arrested for driving under the influence in 2019.

EMILY’s List also made endorsements to candidates vying for the New Mexico House of Representatives, many of them winning their primary elections.

On Monday, EMILY’s List tweeted from their national account support for the pro-abortion candidates who took out the pro-life Democrats, writing, “New Mexico is one step closer to a pro-choice majority in the state Senate AND an all women of color U.S. House delegation!”

EMILY’s List has previously been a big supporter of Michelle Lujan Grisham during her run for the New Mexico governorship and is currently pushing for Rep. Xochitl Torres Small, who believes in abortion up-to-birth and infanticide. The organization has taken nearly a million dollars from leftist billionaire George Soros.

The 2020 November election will be a defining moment between radical abortion up-to-birth extremism and a culture of Life in the Land of Enchantment. It is unclear if the Democrats who lost their seats to anti-life extremists will back the Republicans running against their former challengers. A leftist opinion column in the Santa Fe New Mexican speculated that Sen. Clemente Sanchez may back the Republican running for District 30, who coincidentally shares his surname of Sanchez.

The Republican Party of New Mexico has gone to great lengths to recruit quality candidates for most legislative races, which will be a strong offense to the far-left Democrats in November’s General Election. After Tuesday’s Republican Primary, women of color will be running for all three congressional districts, with Michelle Garcia Holmes (CD-1) and Alexis Martinez Johnson CD-3) being of Hispanic descent and Yvette Herrell (CD-2) being of Cherokee descent.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, ‘Patroness of the Unborn,’ does not belong on pro-abortion MLG’s face

On Thursday, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (MLG) started off her coronavirus press briefing by showing off her new face mask, which featured had an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The choice of clothing is surprising, as Our Lady of Guadalupe is a sacred image known as the “Patroness of the Americas” and the “Patroness of the Unborn,” who, since her apparition in 1531 to St. Juan Diego, brought cruel human sacrifice to an end all over the Americas.

In the 1400s and 1500s, babies were ripped out of their mothers’ wombs, their hearts ripped out while still beating, and their skulls thrown down temple pyramid steps. According to the early Mexican historian Ixtlilxochitl, it was estimated that one out of every five Mexican child was sacrificed to the Aztec “gods.”

Throughout centuries, Our Lady has been the Patroness of the Unborn for her apparition and creation of a culture of Life in the Americas, spreading that message of peace across the world.

But according to the National Right to Life Educational Foundation, over 61,628,584 babies have been killed by abortion. Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham is an outspoken advocate for killing babies through abortion and has been lauded by multiple abortion up-to-birth groups, such as Planned Parenthood, which have given her endorsements for her gubernatorial and congressional runs.

In 2019, Lujan Grisham unsuccessfully tried to ram through an extreme anti-life bill, HB-51, which would have legalized abortion up-to-birth for any reason and stripped away protections for women, including underage girls who would not need permission to get the procedure.

Given Lujan Grisham’s unabashedly pro-abortion stance to end the lives of unborn children through her policy proposals and advocacy, she has no business using a religious figure as sacred as the Patroness of the Unborn Our Lady of Guadalupe, much less place her likeness and image on her face in the form of a mask.

Pew Research reports that 34% of Christian adults in New Mexico are Catholic, and the Catholic Church’s 2014 numbers show over 1.4 million church members in New Mexico.

Lujan Grisham, who claims to be a Catholic herself, appears to be once again shooting herself in the foot with her desecration of Our Lady. This week, it was also reported that she broke her own lockdown orders by purchasing high-end jewelry from an Albuquerque jeweler, Lilly Barrack, a non-essential business.

Voters head to the polls on June 2nd, and her latest stunt may irk Catholic voters, pro-lifers, and people of faith into participating in the electoral process to elect pro-life leaders. Lujan Grisham has endorsed multiple Democrat candidates for the 2020 election, all of whom are pro-abortion extremists. Some candidates she has endorsed are challenging pro-life Democrats who voted against her 2019 abortion up-to-birth bill.

Lujan Grisham’s latest stunt seems to be a sick way to spit in the eye of pro-lifers and desecrate a sacred image, which has continually given people hope for the unborn for generations. Our Lady of Guadalupe does not belong on pro-abortion extremist MLG’s face, but unfortunately, her past disregard for rules and norms of respect makes her foul gimmick predictable.

Is Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham waging war on the Catholic Church for political retribution?

On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham began lifting her rigid restrictions on small businesses, allowing them to re-open at 25% capacity. However, she arbitrarily continues to punish the Catholic Churches of New Mexico by only allowing Churches to re-open at 10% capacity.

This attack against religious freedom in New Mexico is uniquely impacting the Catholic community because Catholic services are uniquely dependent upon the physical presence of their Priests and their parishioners due to their Eucharistic Masses. Evangelical Churches throughout New Mexico, on the other hand, have been able to continue virtually unimpeded due to services that can be streamed online.

Could it be that Lujan Grisham is using her executive power during this COVID-19 crisis to wage war on the Catholic Church of New Mexico, due to the Catholic Bishops’ bold stance in opposition to 2019’s House Bill 51, the – Decriminalize Abortion Ban during the 2019 legislative session?

According to Breitbart News, “[Pro-life] advocates are especially grateful for the efforts of the Catholic bishops of New Mexico who worked in defense of life. In addition to several official statements from the bishops, Abortion Free New Mexico noted the prayer vigil organized by the Archdiocese of Santa Fe in the rotunda of the capitol building. Archbishop John Wester welcomed people of all faiths to join in prayer to ‘move the hearts of the Democrat legislators to oppose pro-death legislation,’ the pro-life group said.”

In fact, it was Catholic Democrats in New Mexico who were pivotal in the defeat of this radical pro-death agenda spearheaded by New Mexico Governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham.

During the 2019 Legislative Session, Lujan Grisham welcomed radical pro-abortion extremists in Santa Fe and vowed to sign their extreme legislation if passed by the New Mexico legislators.

A Facebook post dated March 2, 2019 stated, “More than 100 advocates and health care providers a-delivered over 10,000 signatures in support of House Bill 51, removing ourtdated and unenforceable language criminalizing New Mexico health care providers. Reproductive health care is not a crime, and I am proud to stand with women across New Mexico in support of HB 51.”

Screen Shot 2020-05-14 at 11.51.16 AM.png

After the devastating defeat at the New Mexico legislature, Gov. Lujan Grisham wasn’t going to let this current crisis go to waste.

During the current COVID-19 crisis in New Mexico, the governor has deemed abortion facilities “essential” and allowed them to remain open, but has deemed Churches “non-essential” and forced them to close.

Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico received the following statement from the governors office:

“We have discussed this matter and the clinics are not going to close. Some people are claiming that abortions are elective surgeries and we are not considering them as elective surgeries.”

Meanwhile, The Archdiocese of Santa Fe has been especially hard hit due to the current shut-down imposed by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham.
According to one report, “The Archdiocese says it’s struggling to make payroll since parishes haven’t been able to gather collections since the state public health orders prohibit in-person services.”

In addition, for Catholics, the ability to meet and receive communion is a cornerstone of their faith. The Church’s purpose is to bring souls to salvation and minister to the poor and needy, but Christians can’t fulfill these purposes when the governor deems fellowship, community and service to others as non-essential activities.

This absurd inconsistency coming from New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham reeks of political retribution.

Bud and Tara Shaver lead the pro-life ministry Abortion Free New Mexico, using a systematic approach to closing abortion facilities through investigative research, public exposure, and proper oversight and accountability.

While NM fights COVID-19 pandemic, Martin Heinrich fights to kill babies through abortion

On Thursday, Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-NM), took to Twitter to proclaim his dissatisfaction with the $2 trillion stimulus bill passed by Congress in mid-March to provide relief to those affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

Heinrich shared a left-wing article in the New Mexico Political Report (a news website run by far-left abortion up-to-birth ProgressNow NM), which claimed the $2 trillion economic package “take[s] a swipe” at the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

According to the article, “buried deep within the nearly 1,000 page bill is language designed to take a swipe at Planned Parenthood. Businesses and nonprofits seeking relief money will have to go through the Trump Administration’s Small Business Association—and the agency has the ability to refuse the nonprofit organization, according to Vice. Anti-abortion lawmakers claimed it as a ‘win’ against abortion rights.” It should be noted that Heinrich voted for the aid package.

As the nation copes with the ramifications of the deadly pandemic, Heinrich appears to have access to kill babies through abortions at the top of his agenda, before all else.

“Health centers like [Planned Parenthood] are a vital resource for preventive and primary care for women across the country, especially in rural communities. I’ll always fight to protect women’s health against these efforts to undermine reproductive health care,” wrote Heinrich.

During the 2018 election cycle, Heinrich received at least $151,131.93 from abortion, with $74,261.93 coming from California Planned Parenthood organizations, $40,000 from Planned Parenthood’s New York action fund, $520 from the group’s Minnesota action fund, $35,000 from DC-based national Planned Parenthood Action Fund, among smaller individual contributions from abortionist Shannon Carr of Albuquerque’s Southwestern Women’s Options late-term abortion clinic ($100), and Annette Cummings of Planned Parenthood Federation of America ($1,250). All of these figures are according to the Federal Election Commission.

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has closed all businesses deemed “non-essential,” threatening them with citations if they do not comply. Lujan Grisham has also denied health care facilities to perform elective procedures. However, abortion facilities remain wide open, despite abortion being an elective procedure. As of April 9, New Mexico has 989 cases of COVID-19, with 17 coronavirus-related deaths.

In February, Martin Heinrich voted against the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which would give basic health care to an infant who survives a botched abortion. By voting against the measure, his vote appears to show his support for infanticide, as well as just simply abortion.

In 2018, Heinrich claimed anyone who opposes the unlimited killing of babies up to the date of their birth is “sexist.”
