Scandal-plagued liberal Dem Tim Jennings running for Roswell mayor

The mayoral race is coming up in Roswell, with incumbent Republican Mayor Dennis Kintigh, a former FBI Agent and state representative, fending off opposition from liberal Democrat Tim Jennings, who was a major player in the New Mexico Senate at the time of corrupt ex-Senate Pro-Tem Manny Aragon, a Democrat, who was convicted of fraud to the tune of $4.4 million during the construction of a new Court House.

Instead of throwing Aragon in jail for 30 years to life, Jennings at the time asked the judge to grant leniency to Aragon, who ended up serving only four and a half years in prison for defrauding the State. 

According to documents obtained by the Piñon Post, Jennings appears to have also financially benefitted from his position as a senator. In 2005 through 2006, Jennings voted “yes” on state appropriations totaling $300,000 to “…plan, design, construct and remodel the energy library in Roswell in Chaves County – (which) may also include acquiring a building for the library,” quoted from the chaptered text of 2006’s S.B. 639, page 16.

The particular building, purchased for the energy library at a price tag of $150,000 and approved unanimously by all sitting County Commissioners, was owned by Jennings and his sibling, personally benefitting the former state senator. Regardless of the massive conflict of interest, Jennings voted for the appropriation despite the conflict of interest. 

Four of the commissioners who approved the contract have now endorsed Jennings for his mayoral bid, including Commissioner Richard Taylor, and former Commissioners Alice Eppers, Harold Hobson, and Michael Trujillo, according to Jennings’ website

While in the Roundhouse, Jennings voted seven times for partial-birth abortion, 22 times against parental notification before underaged minors got abortions, voted against life sentences for child killers, and repeatedly raised New Mexicans’ taxes. He did all this while voting to triple his pension, which resulted in him coasting off with over $1,000,000 of New Mexicans’ money for his “service” in the state’s “part-time” legislature. 

Despite putting out a full-page advertisement in the Roswell Daily Record erroneously claiming he “oppos[es] the governor’s mask and vaccine mandates” during his mayoral campaign, he previously testified at a November 30, 2020, Roswell City Council meeting in support of mask mandates, while wearing a mask.

He told the Council,  “There’s been a lot of concern about mask directives and whether or not they work. In today’s New York Times — I guess it was in the New York Times Today — just so you know, nationally,  the metro areas with the highest average daily cases increases in the last … two weeks, number 20 in the nation the worst out of the whole country, the highest number 20 was Hobbs, New Mexico. Number 14 was Lubbock, Texas. And we have some real problems with people wearing masks around and washing their hands, I think, but number two was Gallup New Mexico, the highest percentage of increase in the whole country. Number one was Roswell, New Mexico. And I just bring that up because I.. you know, not many of us are health care people, I mean that are people that are, uh… doctors and stuff in. I think it’s something we should look at.”

Jennings endorsed Lujan Grisham in 2018 for her run for governor, along with other left-wing politicians, organizations, and abortion giant Planned Parenthood, according to the endorsement page on Lujan Grisham’s 2018 campaign. 

The municipal election will occur on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.

Legislative update: Pro-election fraud bill stalls, House advances two anti-gun bills

Friday was busy at the Legislature, with the Senate Rules Committee taking the entire day to consider radical pro-election fraud S.B. 8, while the House Judiciary Committee advanced two anti-gun bills, including H.B. 9 that forces New Mexicans to buy locked containers to lock up their guns and a bill, H.B. 68 making teenagers felons for “brandishing” a firearm. H.B. 9 passed in the committee 7-4 while H.B. 68 passed.

Another bill that was heard on the House floor, H.B. 15, allowed tribal governments to set their own tax rates, which passed with a handful of representatives voting against the bill’s final passage.

S.B. 8 had hundreds of New Mexicans comment in opposition and support, with slightly more in opposition to the radical bill. It would allow 16-year-olds to vote in municipal elections, let absentee ballots be received seven days AFTER an election, let third parties get direct access to the Secretary of State’s voting system, legalize ballot harvesting, allow straight-ticket voting, among other measures to erode the security of New Mexico’s elections.

Those who testified against it included Republican Secretary of State candidate Audrey Trujillo, pro-life activist Elisa Martinez, Piñon Post editor and candidate for the New Mexico House in District 51, John Block, engineer Erin Clements, activist Sara Smith, among others. 

During the public comment period, Senate Pro Tem Mimi Stewart (D-Bernalillo) and Sen. Jerald Ortiz y Pino repeatedly complained about the length of the public’s commentary on the bill. Stewart complained, “I think…if you can end this at this point,” demanding he cut off public comment after a member of the public testified at length about the downsides of the bill. “I don’t believe allowing people to go on for 10 minutes if there are 50 waiting, is a wise decision,” she said. Chairman Daniel Ivey-Soto (D-Bernalillo) denied her request to her ire.

Throughout public comments, Democrat senators, including Ivey-Soto laughed at people testifying against the bill and made snide remarks about their comments. Most, if not all, of the testimony in support of the radical bill, included paid activists from extremist groups such as “New Mexico Dream Team,” “Olé,” and the Sierra Club. 

Many of the supporters of the bill did not speak of specifics of the bill. Rather, they claimed the opposition was racist for not supporting the measure. One commentator said opponents were “fascists” and “white supremacists,” while another said opponents were supporting “Jim Crow” and were spewing “bulls**t.” Another said, “Voting is not solely for the elite and less melanated.”

While the committee amended the bill, Democrat Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver, who sat to testify on the bill with Democrat Leader Peter Wirth (D-Santa Fe), falsely claimed New Mexico’s elections were secure. “You know, a problem [in an election] is not the same as illegal activity,” she said.

After two one-hour breaks and small fights between Ivey-Soto and Sen. Katy Duhigg (D-Bernalillo), the committee abruptly adjourned at around 7:30  p.m. until Monday. Leader Wirth had attempted to convince Ivey-Soto to adjourn the committee so the Senate could meet to ram through more extreme bills but the chairman declined, postponing the Senate floor session to reconvene at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

H.J.R. 2, the “Environmental Rights” amendment by Reps. Joanne Ferrary (D-Doña Ana) and Tara Lujan (D-Santa Fe)

This radical bill would enshrine “environmental rights” in the New Mexico Constitution, which would, in effect, put the final nail in the energy industry’s coffin — the fund which provides for most state funds for hospitals and schools, not to mention jobs. This bill was proposed last legislative session and the Piñon Post helped it die before it could reach final passage.

House committee advances GOP bill to allow recall with bipartisan support

On Monday, the New Mexico House Government, Elections, and Indian Affairs Committee advanced a bill, H.J.R. 12, which would allow recall of public officers in the executive and legislative branches of government. 

The bill, which is sponsored by Rep. Stefani Lord (R-Sandia Park) and Rep. Randall Pettigrew (R-Lea), had 13-2 support by members of the public, with 87% of attendees voting in support of the bill in a poll. 

Supporters of the bill, such as Piñon Post editor John Block commented that the bill would provide a much-needed “added layer of accountability” for public officials to vote correctly and carry out the will of the people while in office. There were no attendees who commented against the resolution.

Far-left state Rep. Gail Chasey (D-Bernalillo) attempted to stop the bill by asking for members to table it. That motion died on a vote of 3-2, with state Rep. Daymon Ely (D-Corrales) voting against Chasey and all the other Democrats on the committee. 

The resolutions ultimately passed with Rep. Ely’s support and it now heads over to House Judiciary Committee for consideration. 

Rep. Chasey had an issue with the succession process for a recalled public official while Rep. Ely had an issue with reasons given for recall in the bill.

Antifa-linked leftists blow a gasket over profile piece on Piñon Post editor

On the front page of the Santa Fe New Mexican’s Sunday issue, the paper ran a profile piece on Piñon Post editor and founder John Block titled “An unlikely conservative voice needles New Mexico’s left.” 

The profile wrote,“Block, who remains convinced Donald Trump won the 2020 presidential election, has been called the unofficial spokesman of the Republican Party of New Mexico — given to writing incendiary things on politics and politicians that perhaps the party structure would not.”

The piece, which interviewed both Block and those who disagree with him, resulted in absolute pandemonium on social media, with 142 comments on the article itself as of 9:00 a.m. Wednesday with leftists losing their minds over the coverage. The article has since become the most popular on the site.

On social media, the fringe George Soros-funded dark money group ProgressNow New Mexico (PNNM) claimed Block and the Piñon Post are “extremist” and a “general threat to democracy,” urging its followers to frantically demand the New Mexican apologize for the profile piece. 

PNNM has previously shared propaganda from the domestic terrorist group “ANTIFA,” which promotes violence in American cities. PNNM encouraged its followers to doxx conservatives who the group disagrees with — yet it claims the Piñon Post’s accurate journalism is “extreme.”

It encouraged its followers to beg the New Mexican for an apology and to write angry letters to the editor showing the dissatisfaction of the far-left. 

Leftist state Rep. Liz Thomson (D-Bernalillo) has repeatedly bashed New Mexicans, including attacks on Law Enforcement, which she compared to the KKK. She chimed in on Twitter, writing, “It was beyond disappointing for a good newspaper to play into this pathology.” 

One commenter gave a little more sanity to the conversation, replying to Thomson, “So, it’s all good when @thenewmexican reports what the democrats want/like, but when they don’t, watch out 🙄 kinda makes one wonder about truth and unbiased journalism in New Mexico.”

It appears that the New Mexican piece, which was by no stretch of the imagination flattering to Block, has further “needled” New Mexico’s Radical Left and exposed more radicalism from the so-called “tolerant” leftists in the state.

Dems’ proposed U.S. House map could mean Pearce replaces Leger Fernandez in Congress

The Democrats in the New Mexico’s Legislature are ruthlessly trying to ram through a new proposed map that would create a D+11 district in congressional District 1, a D+5 district in District 3, and a D+4 district in District 2, according to FiveThirtyEight analysis. 

The gerrymandering attempt by the Democrats to squeak out three Democrat-leaning districts could actually backfire big time for them, especially given recent polling. 

A new Harvard CAPS/Harris poll shows that “45 percent approve of the Democratic party while 55 percent disapprove. Republicans fared slightly better at 49 percent approval. The poll suggests that even after the passage of the bipartisan infrastructure bill, Democrats still have work to do ahead of the 2022 midterm elections,” according to 790 KABC.

The bad news for Democrats, especially following New Jersey’s and Virginia’s competitive races, where the GOP flipped the Virginia governor’s mansion and narrowly lost New Jersey, a state won by Joe Biden in 2020 by 15.93%, could mean Democrats are endangered – even in New Mexico in 2022.

Recently, the National Republican Congressional Committee added first-term Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez (D-NM-03) to its target list, which could mean that the far-left congresswoman who has openly touted extreme late-term abortion, could be booted from Congress.

With the New Mexico Democrats’ plans of redistricting New Mexicans to take out Congresswoman Yvette Herrell (R-NM-02) by swinging her district to a D+4 and putting conservative areas like northern Hobbs and Lovington into Leger Fernandez’s district, this could backfire. 

In one scenario, the Democrats’ decision could result in someone like former Congressman Steve Pearce (R-NM-02), who lives in southeastern New Mexico, returign to Congress in the Third District. Pearce has shown he can raise money and could put up a strong fight against the vulnerable freshman Democrat, who has adopted far-left policies. 

Do Democrats know what they are doing by swinging the Third District from a D+14 district to a mere D+5? This could give Republicans a chance to have two Republicans representing New Mexico in the U.S. House. 

Even Leger Fernandez’s brother, Martín, testified in the New Mexico Senate Judiciary Committee against the proposed maps that could wipe out his sibling from Congress, telling the committee, “Many of you have very, very large districts and you understand how hard it is to represent those various areas of your district. The S.B. 1 would make it really [difficult]. I mean, from going from Gallup all the way to Roswell… is not a good way to have a representative represent their constituents. The acequia to the oil patch are not communities of interest.” 

Former congressional candidate Alexis Martinez Johnson, a Republican, ran for the Third District in 2020 and for the mayorship of Santa Fe in November. She has recently launched an exploratory committee to run again for the Third District, this time in a more politically friendly seat. 

“My family and I have discussed how we can serve, and we find it prudent to listen to New Mexicans, which we plan to do over the course of this month,” Martinez Johnson said.

Far-left Alamogordo mayoral candidate blows up at Piñon Post editor, calls him an ‘a**hole’

On Tuesday night, after the Alamogordo City Commission meeting, Mayor Pro-Tem Nadia Sikes confronted Piñon Post editor and founder John Block, claiming the October 20, 2021 article written about her radical record was not factually accurate. 

Once Block took his phone out to get the conversation on record, Sykes had a much different tone. Block asked her what was factually inaccurate specifically about the article, to which she claimed her abortion stance was not accurately portrayed, claiming full-term abortions rarely ever happen.

When pressed regarding her specific stance, she repeatedly said, “I’m pro-choice,” while dodging questions on if she supports any regulations whatsoever on abortion. Once she began backing away, Mr. Block pointed out his opinion that he hopes Ms. Sykes loses the election, to which she said, “What an a**hole” for all commissioners and the public to hear. 

Despite her erroneous claim that the October 20 article was factually inaccurate, she has yet to formally request a retraction on any specific part she deemed to be supposedly inaccurate. 

Block released the following statement following the altercation:

It’s a shame that a person like Ms. Sikes has attained any office of public trust, especially in the City of Alamogordo, a place where respect and family values are cherished. Ms. Sikes using profane words toward a constituent, much less a member of the press, automatically disqualifies her from this race and proves why she is not fit for any position of public trust.

MLG announces extreme eco-Marxist agenda at ‘climate summit’ as New Mexicans protest

On Monday, far-left eco-Marxist groups and public figures gathered at the Capitol in Santa Fe to talk about the “climate change” conspiracy theory put on by House Speaker Brian Egolf (D-Santa Fe). As previously reported exclusively by the Piñon Post, Egolf’s “New Mexico Climate Summit” is costing New Mexico taxpayers at least $14,134. 

At the event, scandal-ridden alleged serial groper Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced radical job-killing proposals she aims to ram through the 2022 Legislative Session that will not only cripple New Mexico’s energy economy but will harm the poor in significant ways. 

These proposals include “net-zero” greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, “clean fuel standards,” and the introduction of a hydrogen hub act. In 2021, the clean fuel standards bill died after it did not achieve final passage on the House floor. The bill would have resulted in at least a 20-cent gas tax that would harm the poorest New Mexicans, already struggling in Lujan Grisham’s economy.

“If you don’t have that framework in statute, it’s too easy to not work as diligently or as quickly or as effectively — to not have future commitment,” Lujan Grisham said. “This should be indicative of the work we’re going to do to preserve future generations.”

“For a small state with some pretty interesting challenges, we are, in fact, leading the country in any number of environmental strategies, policies, and statutory frameworks at reducing our emissions and increasing our renewable energy,” the Governor added.

Outside, protesters gathered from across New Mexico to oppose the job-killing proposals being implemented in the state. Signs read things like “MLG’s Green New Deal Kills” and “You Are The Carbon They Want to Reduce.” At the protest organized by activist Marcie May and others, Piñon Post editor John Block, GOP secretary of state candidate Audrey Trujillo, GOP lieutenant gubernatorial candidate Ant Thornton, GOP former U.S. Senate candidate Elisa Martinez, and others spoke about how eco-left policies are killing jobs in America.

Egolf briefly came outside, but once confronted by the Piñon Post about the job-killing Green New Deal, also known as the “Energy Transition Act”, he scurried away and did not give an opportunity for questions. State Sen. Harold Pope (D-Bernalillo) was asked about his support for the Green New Deal, and he said he supports it. When asked about the jobs that will be killed, he said, “It creates jobs.” When pressed further, he also scurried away. 

Fringe enviro-Marxist groups Somos Un Pueblo Unido, Rio Grande Chapter of the Sierra Club, Natural Resources Defense Council, OLÉ, Center for Civic Policy, Western Resource Advocates, Environmental Defense Fund, Conservation Voters New Mexico, NM Wild, Power4NewMexico, the Angelica Foundation, and the Energy Foundation are all sponsors of the summit.

Pro-energy group Power The Future’s communications director Larry Behrens said, “New Mexico is a national leader in unemployment and rising electric bills so it’s no surprise Governor Lujan Grisham wants to jet off to Scotland and leave her record behind. Additionally, it is the height of hypocrisy for the Governor to hop on a plane instead of appearing virtually. New Mexicans deserve better than a Governor who depends on fossil fuels to travel and for her budget but then undermines our energy workers at elitist resorts among her friends.”

Lujan Grisham is set to fly to Glasgow for a climate summit, in which she will join world leaders to discuss the climate change conspiracy theory.

MLG returns illicit campaign donations after ethics complaint filed

After an ethics complaint was filed by Santa Fe Republican Party officer and “Stop MLG” founder Brett Kokinadis, scandal-ridden alleged serial groper Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham returned illicit campaign donations that exceeded contribution limits.

The Governor returned $4,200 to Intrepid Potash, a Denver-based mineral company, which gave Lujan Grisham $25,000 when gubernatorial candidates are only allowed $20,800 from each entity. 

According to the Associated Press, “The Lujan Grisham campaign also amended its filing to identify previously undisclosed sources of four recent campaign contributions. Those include two donations totaling $10,400 from Chevron Policy, Government & Public Affairs, a $4,000 contribution from a political committee led by Democratic state Senate President Mimi Stewart and $2,500 from the Health Care Service Corporation Employees political committee.” 

Health Care Service Corporation reportedly oversees BlueCross BlueShield of New Mexico, a state-sanctioned provider of Medicaid health care coverage.

Republican House Leader Jim Townsend (R-Artesia) is a contributor to Stop MLG. 

When Kokinadis filed the complaint, he said, “New Mexicans deserve better than this. This Governor’s habitual behavior is hurting the state and its citizens–all for personal gain for the Governor.” 

“Her illegal actions have embarrassed New Mexico for too long. From ignoring the legislature during the extended COVID restrictions, ignoring and violating her own public health orders, using campaign donations to settle alleged sexual allegations, purchasing lavish meals and alcohol, covering up issues at CYFD, and now violating ethics laws, all while New Mexicans continue to suffer from her unfair policies, it’s obvious why should accept monies in any amount–she needs them to aggressively campaign to combat her failed and unfair policies.”

Another ethics complaint filed by Piñon Post founder and editor John Block in May is still ongoing, in which Block is going after the Governor for improper use of campaign funds to pay her daughter, Erin Grisham, for hair and makeup — a direct violation of state law and Secretary of State guidance.

Piñon Post demands Dems speak out amid MLG groping scandal or they are complicit

On Monday, Piñon Post editor John Block sent a letter to high-ranking New Mexico Democratic Party officials and lawmakers demanding accountability for Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s alleged groping of multiple men, including that of James Hallinan, which resulted in her paying him $150,000 in hush money.

The Piñon Post is calling for high-ranking officials, including legislative, congressional, statewide, and Democratic Party of New Mexico leaders, to denounce Lujan Grisham or else they are complicit in perpetuating sexual violence.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo faced bipartisan pushback against his alleged sexual abuse, of which he never paid off his accusers like Lujan Grisham. But Lujan Grisham said regarding Cuomo in March 2021, “I’m, frankly, in that group of elected leaders, that you believe the individual, you give real credit and credibility there, if you don’t, we are revictimizing brave men and women who come forward.” 

The Piñon Post is demanding Lujan Grisham live by her own standard and not revictimize these men who have accused her by remaining in office to perpetuate more violence upon the people of New Mexico.

“New Mexico Democrats must hold Michelle Lujan Grisham accountable or else they, too are complicit in covering up sexual assault victims’ voices,” said Block.

“There is absolutely no excuse — not one — to justify the governor’s depraved behavior and her subsequent gagging of accusers with hush-money payments from her campaign account. New Mexico Democrats must bravely stand up against Michelle Lujan Grisham and call for her immediate resignation,” he added. “The time for action is now.”
