President Trump

SOS Toulouse Oliver ‘reviewing’ ways Trump could be booted from NM ballot

According to a report by Democrat blogger Joe Monahan, far-left New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver’s office is “reviewing the legal theories” that could boot 45th President Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 election ballot.

ABC News reported, “The argument to disqualify Trump from appearing on primary or general election ballots in 2024 boils down to Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution’s 14th Amendment, which states that an elected official is not eligible to assume public office if that person ‘engaged in insurrection or rebellion against’ the United States, or had ‘given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof,’ unless they are granted amnesty by a two-thirds vote of Congress.”

Despite an extreme amount of exonerating evidence showing that Trump was not guilty of any crimes on January 6, 2021, with explicit directions to rally attendees to be peaceful while calling on then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi for higher security at the U.S. Capitol, Toulouse Oliver is trying to use this trick to keep Trump off of the ballot.

“We’ve been getting inquiries into our office about this. All candidates for [the] 2024 elections are required to file with our office in February 2024. We are aware of and are reviewing the legal theories regarding the 14th Amendment that conclude Donald Trump is ineligible to run for President,” Toulouse Oliver’s office wrote to Monahan.

“If Donald Trump files in New Mexico to run for President, we will make a determination at that time based on our understanding of New Mexico law and the requirements to run for office in New Mexico. Any determination about a specific candidate’s eligibility for the ballot will be made after the candidate filing day in February 2024,” the statement continued.

“Some Dems would relish keeping Trump off of the NM ballot but other more pragmatic ones point out that Biden has already beaten Trump here once and stands a good chance to do so again. That might not be as easy with another GOP presidential nominee, although the Dem would be favored over any R in blue NM,” wrote the blogger.

The news comes days after a poll commissioned for the far-left New Mexico Political Report found the 45th President within single digits of Joe Biden, showing that Trump’s support in the state is significant.

New leftist poll shows Trump polling within within single digits of Biden in NM

A new poll commissioned by the leftist NM Political Report sheds light on the competitive 2024 landscape in New Mexico, indicating that 45th President Donald Trump is just a single digit away from securing victory against Joe Biden. The poll, conducted by Public Policy Polling, engaged 767 New Mexico voters between August 23 and 24.

Despite New Mexico’s recent history of favoring Democrat candidates, this poll presents a compelling case for a potential shift in the political tide. Joe Biden holds a modest lead with 49 percent of the polled voters against both Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. In a hypothetical rematch against Trump, the 45th President garners 41 percent of the vote, with 10 percent of voters remaining undecided.

The electoral history of New Mexico, which has leaned Democratic in recent years, cannot be denied. In the 2020 presidential election, Biden was reported to have won over Trump by a margin of 10.79 percent, garnering 54.29 percent of the vote to Trump’s 43.5 percent. Notably, the last Republican to win New Mexico was George W. Bush in 2004, marking a potential turning point for the state’s political landscape.

Breaking down the respondents, 52 percent indicated their support for Biden, while 41 percent cast their vote for Trump; 7 percent either voted for another candidate or refrained from voting altogether.

However, Biden manages to maintain his lead despite holding a higher disapproval rating than approval among New Mexico voters. The poll reveals that 45 percent of respondents approve of Biden’s presidential performance, while 48 percent express disapproval.

The poll encompassed 767 New Mexico voters, utilizing both landline and text message outreach on August 23 and 24. The survey employed a split of 35 percent landline and 65 percent text message contacts. The margin of error for topline questions stands at 3.5 percent, with subpopulations likely to have a slightly larger margin of error. This poll serves as a noteworthy indication that the political landscape in New Mexico may be on the cusp of change, opening the door for increased conservative support in future elections.

AOC loses it as President Trump dominates CNN town hall

On Wednesday, 45th President Donald Trump crushed it in his town hall with CNN, having an answer for all of the deceptive questions lobbed at him by the network’s Kaitlan Collins.

The President unequivocally refused to let CNN get away with saying the 2020 election was not rigged, while Collins repeatedly butted in, claiming it was not.

She also repeatedly butted in and did not let him answer questions, to which he dubbed her a “nasty person.”

Here are some clips from the night:

But even more amusing was socialist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) freaking out on Twitter for the network hosting the town hall at all — a sign it was a slam dunk.

“CNN should be ashamed of themselves. They have lost total control of this “town hall” to again be manipulated into platforming election disinformation, defenses of Jan 6th, and a public attack on a sexual abuse victim. The audience is cheering him on and laughing at the host,” she tweeted.

She added in a subsequent tweet, “This falls squarely on CNN. Everyone here saw exactly what was going to happen. Instead they put a sexual abuse victim in harm’s way for views. This was a choice to platform lies about the election & Jan 6th w/ no plan but to have their moderator interrupted without consequence.”

She then went on MSNBC to bemoan CNN for having the 45th President on the network for the town hall, saying, “I know you said earlier that you will not comment on the platforming of such atrocious disinformation, but I would. I think it was a profoundly irresponsible decision … it was shameful.”

WATCH:

President Trump currently holds a 41-point lead over his GOP primary rivals and the CNN town hall is likely to further cement his dominance in the race to reclaim the White House from Joe Biden, given the positive reviews from Republicans and Democrats alike.

Former Democrat presidential candidate Andrew Yang wrote, “This #CNNTownhall is shaping up to be a clear win for Trump, certainly in the Republican field and probably overall.”

Trump responds to arraignment: ‘This is a persecution, not an investigation’

On Tuesday, President Donald J. Trump traveled from his Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida, to New York City to attend an arraignment hearing on charges by partisan Democrat District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

At the hearing, the president did not speak or show emotion, according to reports. Television cameras were not allowed in the courtroom, but pool cameras were allowed to take photos, such as this one:

Trump pleaded not guilty to all 34 counts lobbed against him by the partisan district attorney, who, before taking office, threatened to go on an unending, merciless witch hunt against President Trump.

Following the hearing and after arriving back at Mar-a-Lago, Trump addressed supporters.

He said, “They want to settle the case, but I want no part of that,” adding, “This is a persecution, not an investigation.”

“The criminal is the district attorney because he illegally leaked massive amounts of grand jury information for which he should be prosecuted, or at a minimum, he should resign.”

He also noted, “Various prosecutors in the DA’s office also quit because they thought President Trump is being treated very unfairly. Oh, I love that. I’d like to meet them.”

In an email statement released following his remarks, President Trump wrote, “EVERY American who believes in justice and the rule of law must stand against this witch hunt. These tyrants cannot be rewarded. They must be completely and unconditionally defeated. Once their hatred and division are stopped, we will find that we have much more in common than we thought. We will be one country again. Together, we will deliver a great rebirth of American freedom. Pray for me. Pray for my family. Most importantly, pray for our country.”

Following the president’s arraignment, the Republican Party of New Mexico chairman, former Congressman Steve Pearce, wrote, “The charges released today only add more questions about the credibility of this indictment. No new information was given in the unsealed documents. Federal and district prosecutors previously decided not to charge the same allegations made against former President Trump almost seven years ago. Prosecuting district attorney Alvin Bragg was rightfully asked today, ‘Why now?’ We all know why.”

NM Republicans respond to Dem-led indictment of Trump

On Thursday, a New York grand jury voted to indict 45th President Donald J. Trump, according to reports. It is the first time a current or former president has ever been indicted.

This is what many believe is yet another attempt to discredit the president. The so-called “witch hunt” against Trump has continued since he first entered the political arena, and it appears that there is no end in sight. Even though there is no evidence of wrongdoing on Trump’s part, his detractors continue to pursue him at any cost.

Actually, according to evidence, disgraced former Trump attorney Michael Cohen paid off porn actress Stormy Daniels with his own funds and with Trump or his team having no knowledge of Cohen’s payment.

The New York grand jury’s indictment against Donald Trump is yet another desperate attempt to vilify this great leader. It represents nothing more than an ongoing effort by the left-wing establishment to undermine everything he accomplished during his time in office. From day one, they have sought to tear down everything he stands for and discredit his administration’s achievements. But despite their best efforts, President Trump remains a hero and a champion for millions of Americans who cherish freedom and prosperity.

The Times reported, “It is unclear precisely when the grand jury vote criminally charging the … president was taken. Prosecutors walked into the office of the clerk in the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse, where the paperwork for an indictment was filed only minutes before the office closed for the day. For weeks, the atmosphere outside the district attorney’s office had resembled a circus. But the fervor had cooled in recent days, and the environs of the office were emptier on Thursday than they had been in weeks.”

New Mexico Republicans responded to the news, with the Republican Party of New Mexico’s chairman, former Congressman Steve Pearce, writing:

“We’ve known from the beginning that this is a political witch hunt against the former President. We had a rogue, Soros-funded district attorney with a political agenda facing intense pressure from the left ahead of an election year.

Many Democrats have criticized this case for lack of credibility and condemned the biased judicial system in New York. This indictment sets a dangerous precedent for the future of the nation. If a former chief executive officer of the United States can be arrested on dubious charges, the same thing can happen to others.

It would be great to see the same fervor for the solid evidence against the Biden family and their ties to Communist China, or better yet, let’s see an investigation into our Governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham, and her alleged hush money payments made from her campaign funds. I wonder how long U.S. and New Mexico prosecutors will continue to sit on their hands with the precedent that has been set in New York.”

State Rep. Stefani Lord (R-Sandia Park) wrote on Twitter, “Since a grand jury indicted Trump over hush money paid to Stormy Daniels during his 2016 presidential campaign, then New Mexico Democratic Gov @GovMLG, who paid $150,000 in hush money to settle a sexual harassment claim from a former campaign spokesman, should also be indicted.”

“The BlueAnon mob’s attacks against President Trump are getting increasingly desperate—ANYTHING to make headlines in the hopes it keeps him out of the White House in 2024. Not working. This just emboldens Trump supporters like myself who want America to WIN again. #Trump2024,” wrote state Rep. John Block (R-Alamogordo).

Ronnie Lucero of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly wrote, “My support for Trump just doubled! Thank you to the radical NY grand jury for assuring a Trump victory in 2024!”

NM GOP calls for probe into MLG following Trump arrest rumors

On Tuesday, the Republican Party of New Mexico (RPNM) demanded an investigation into Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham over claims by a former staffer, James Hallinan, that the then-candidate for governor groped him.

The calls from RPNM come amid Manhattan, New York’s district attorney Alvin Braggs trying to indict President Donald Trump for “allegedly falsifying documents as ‘legal expenses’ concerning hush money paid to Stormy Daniels and potentially breaking New York campaign finance law” as the party put it in a news release.

The Party continued:

These seven-year-old accusations resurface after Stormy’s hush money case was previously dismissed by a federal judge who ruled the suit “irrelevant.” Stormy also filed a defamation case against Trump and lost, also losing a subsequent appeal to the Supreme Court. Daniels’ lawyer has since been found guilty of extortion and fraud.

The return of these accusations against Trump shows the signs of another political witch hunt. Even those critical of Trump have blasted the district attorney’s potential indictment. One such critic, lawyer and former Harvard law professor, Alan Dershowitz, highlighted the political agenda surrounding this case saying, “This is 100% political.

There is no basis for this prosecution, but with the judiciary in New York, you never know.” These claims are especially cogent when district attorney Braggs has recently vowed he would not prosecute numerous non-violent crimes.

While the investigations into former President Trump have turned up fruitless, there are almost identical charges against Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham that New Mexico prosecutors refuse to investigate.

RPNM Chairman Steve Pearce, a former congressman from New Mexico’s Second Congressional District, wrote, “Instead of harping on finding fault in Trump, who, after years of probing investigation, is continually vindicated, the left should begin an investigation into the eerily similar charges against our Governor.”

Ahead of the 2022 gubernatorial election, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s campaign paid out $150,000 in alleged hush money to her former campaign staffer, who accused her of grabbing his genitals and making sexually demeaning comments to him. The Lujan Grisham campaign then refused to explain an additional $87,500 payment, labeled “legal expenses,” to the law firm believed to have represented the Governor in her sexual harassment case.

“This is a perfect example of the left’s hypocrisy. While the media continues an uproar over weak accusations against Trump, no investigation has been made into the substantial accusations against Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham,” wrote Pearce.

RPNM continued in the press release, “We call for New Mexico prosecutors to investigate the accusations against Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. RPNM believes nobody is above the law and that truth, not politics, should determine justice.”

Dems’ Jan. 6 panel refers Pres. Trump, his NM-based lawyer for prosecution

During the last day of the partisan Nancy Pelosi-sanctioned January 6 committee hearing, the committee’s members referred 45th President Donald J. Trump, among others, including his former lawyer John Eastman, for prosecution. Eastman lives in Santa Fe and has been constantly harassed by far-left protesters outside of his residence for months.

“We believe that the evidence described by my colleagues today … warrants a criminal referral of former President Donald J. Trump, John Eastman, and others,” said Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland).

The sham committee referred Trump for prosecution on the following counts:

  • Obstruction of an official proceeding;
  • Conspiracy to defraud the United States;
  • Conspiracy to make a false statement; and
  • Conspiracy to defraud the U.S. by assisting, aiding or comforting those involved in an insurrection

Eastman faces the same referral on alleged “Obstruction of an official proceeding.” Legally, on January 6th, no such “insurrection” took place. There was no such conspiracy to defraud the country nor false statements made before the partisan committee.

Eastman’s legal representatives at Burnham & Gorokhov, PLLC wrote following the news, “A criminal ‘referral’ from a congressional committee is not binding on the Department of Justice and carries no more legal weight than a ‘referral’ from any American citizen,” adding, “In fact, a ‘referral’ from the January 6th committee should carry a great deal less weight due to the absurdly partisan nature of the process that produced it.”

“At its inception, the January 6th committee had the resources and mandate to make important contributions in the area of Capitol Security, Electoral Count Act Reform and other areas of potential legislation.  Sadly, this opportunity has been squandered in favor of concocting a pretend ‘criminal case’ from pretend prosecutors designed to create political advantage for the Democratic Party and stigmatize disfavored political groups.  The American people have been ill-served by the January 6th committee and its members,” the firm continued.

According to the Albuquerque Journal, “A 154-page executive summary to the committee’s full investigation was released Monday. The summary mentions Eastman 166 times.”

Criminal charges are not mandatory of the Department of Justice and are at the discretion of special counsel Jack Smith.

Editor’s Note: Mr. Eastman is a donor to Piñon Post editor and founder Rep.-elect John Block’s campaign for state House District 51.

President Trump endorses Ronchetti, calls Lujan Grisham ‘terrible’

In an early morning Truth Social post Monday, President Donald J. Trump threw his support around New Mexico Republican gubernatorial nominee Mark Ronchetti, who is running against far-left Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.

The 45th President said, “New Mexico has an absolutely terrible Governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham. She is WEAK on Crime, bad on the Border where illegal aliens are pouring into our Country at record numbers, & has almost no support from Law Enforcement, which fully understands what a disaster she has been. Also, Drugs & Human Trafficking are OUT OF CONTROL.”

He then praised Ronchetti as an “outstanding” candidate.

Trump wrote, “The good news is that Republican Nominee Mark Ronchetti is outstanding. He will be tough & smart on Crime, the Border & everything else. Mark [has] my Total Endorsement!”

Ronchetti is polling within single digits of Lujan Grisham. He has consistently outraised the embattled Democrat, who has been plagued by her scandal-ridden tenure as governor.

Early voting is through November 5 and Election Day is on November 8.

A previous version of this article incorrectly said Trump made the announcement in a “tweet.” He actually announced it in a Truth Social post.
