Herrell introduces legislation to grant asylum to persecuted Canadians

Following reported widespread violence and government brutality of Canadians amid a massive convoy of trucks dubbed the “Freedom Convoy” in the country’s capital of Ottawa protesting for freedom, Congresswoman Yvette Herrell (R-NM-02) announced she was sponsoring legislation to grant these political prisoners asylum.

Herrell said, “Justin Trudeau’s heavy-handed crackdown against peaceful protesters in Canada is not the action of a Western Democracy, but that of an authoritarian regime like Venezuela.”

“Just as we provide asylum for political prisoners, we should do the same for truckers who have been subjected to violence, had their property confiscated, and their bank accounts frozen by a government that is quickly becoming the embarrassment of the free world.”

Herrell added, “I am introducing legislation that would temporarily grant asylum to innocent Canadian protesters who are being persecuted by their own government. We cannot be silent as our neighbors to the north are treated so badly.”

Canada has been gagging Canadians’ speech, arresting them for speaking out, and guarding the streets of the country — turning it into a police state.

Herrell’s legislation is sure to grab much Republican support, but it is unclear if Democrats will line up against Trudeau’s tyranny upon his people.

RPNM files lawsuit against Dem gerrymandered U.S. House maps

On Friday, the Republican Party of New Mexico (RPNM) announced a lawsuit filed in New Mexico’s Fifth Judicial District Court against the Democrat gerrymandered congressional maps rammed through by far-left Democrats in last year’s second special session.

“The newly approved redistricting maps dilute Republican voting strength,” RPNM contends.

The current maps dilute the Second Congressional District from an R+14 to a D+5 by plunging Democrat-heavy areas, such as Albuquerque’s South Valley, into the Second District. Congresswoman Yvette Herrell (R-NM-02) currently represents the District, which includes most of southern New Mexico.

In the Democrats’ passed plan, Hobbs is split in two, Roswell is split in three, and there is a possibility that an Albuquerque-area resident could represent every single congressional district, which robs representation from the rest of the state.

“Immediately after the 2020 election, Speaker Egolf announced his intention to implement a partisan redistricting of our state to reverse Republican gains. Last month, he followed through on that threat. The Democrat’s cynical attempt to consolidate their power by abusing the redistricting process in New Mexico is illegal and wrong. We are bringing this suit to protect the voices of all New Mexicans regardless of their political beliefs,” said RPNM Chairman Steve Pearce.

“New Mexico statute provides for a non-partisan commission to listen to the people across the state and then submit redistricting plans to the legislature. The commission held public meetings, many people participated, and maps were submitted from that body to the state legislature. And yet after months of hard work and hundreds of thousands in taxpayer dollars spent by the Citizens Redistricting Committee, the Democrats tossed all of that away and jammed through an illegal gerrymander that ripped apart communities of interest, disenfranchised voters across the state, and set up maps where the intent is to let Albuquerque have all 3 congressional representatives. Through this suit we will stand for fairness, the rule of law, and the core principles of our democracy.”

According to the release, “The lawsuit is being filed by Brownstein, Hyatt, Farber & Schreck of Albuquerque, which is also handling the redistricting suits in Colorado.”

Dems send gerrymandered U.S. House map to MLG’s desk

On Saturday, New Mexico House Democrats rammed through an updated U.S. House map proposal, on a vote of 44-24.

The new map skews all three districts to favor Democrats, albeit only slightly in the Third and Second Districts. District 3 represented by Democrat Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez is weakened from a D+14 to a D+5, District 2 represented by Republican Rep. Yvette Herrell is flipped from an R+14 to a D+4, and District 1 represented by Democrat Rep. Melanie Stansbury is weakened from a D+18 to a D+11.

Democrats achieved this partisan advantage by extreme gerrymandering, including chopping up communities of interest to meet its partisan agenda. The Third District snakes all the way from the northwest corner of the state down to the southeast corner of the state, including northern Hobbs, Roswell, and Lovington with places like Española and Santa Fe.

The Second District includes Albuquerque’s South Valley and many of its Republican-leaning areas have been segregated out of the district. The First District snakes down to Roswell while eating up Lincoln and Torrance Counties.

Although the Democrats may, however, have shot themselves in the foot with the passage of this partisan map, especially with 2022 expected to be a Republican blowout year and their now more vulnerable incumbent Democrats having to fend off Republican opponents who very well could flip the Third District and hold onto the Second District.

“It looks to me like the Senate plan purposefully makes the current competitive districts uncompetitive,” said Rep. Greg Nibert, R-Roswell, during a roughly three-hour floor debate on the bill Saturday. “That is not by happenstance; that is by design, and it is politically motivated.”

The governor is expected to sign the partisan map, although it may end up in the courts.

Congresswoman Herrell demands Congress finish the southern border wall

According to a letter posted by the Republican Party of New Mexico, Congresswoman Yvette Herrell (R-NM-02) has officially requested that House Committee on Appropriations Chairwoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) and Ranking Member Kay Granger (R-TX) appropriate funds to finish New Mexico’s border wall and other physical security, which President Donald Trump began. Herrell also has asked for upgrades to the Santa Teresa Port of Entry (POE).

“It is urgent to include adequate funding for the Santa Teresa Port of Entry,” said the Congresswoman. “Constituents and stakeholders in my district are seeing unprecedented growth with the rapid expansion of the Santa Teresa Industrial Borderplex and surrounding areas. With this job growth comes increased demands on local infrastructure and the Santa Teresa Port of Entry. As commercial crossings at the Santa Teresa Port of Entry continue to increase, the capacity to handle such volume of crossings must be able to meet the demand. Due to continued growth in commercial and private traffic as well as its importance for international trade and economic development, I am asking the committee to prioritize much-needed funding.”

Herrell also demanded Congress focus on the victims of criminal aliens crossing the border. “Illegal immigration is not a victimless crime, causing an enormous burden on taxpayers, draining public funds and manpower, and depressing wages for the most vulnerable American citizens,” she said.

“Securing our southern border by means of physical border infrastructure, such as completing construction of the border wall, is vital for our national security; we must ensure that those attempting to seek asylum or enter our country do so through a proper port of entry (POE) and that our Customs and Border Protection officers and agents are safe.”

Earlier this year, Rep. Herrell requested that Acting Commissioner for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Troy Miller dedicate additional resources to the development and modernization of the Santa Teresa POE.

Pedophile-linked Lincoln Project targets GOP Rep. Herrell: Report

According to Alex Ross of the Roswell Daily Record, the disgraced pedophile-linked fake “Republican” group the Lincoln Project has conservative Republican Congresswoman Yvette Herrell (NM-CD-2) on its “preliminary list” of Republicans it is trying to target in 2022.

Ross writes, “Spokesperson for Lincoln Project told me today they are ‘finalizing’ the House Republicans they hope to target in 2022, but say Yvette Herrell of #NM02 is ‘on our preliminary list.’ Herrell last November unseated Democrat Xochitl Torres Small 54 to 46%.”

He added, “Herrell has been one of [President] Trump’s most ardent supporters in Congress, voting against certifying the election results in states Biden won in an attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. Trump also carried #NM02 by a large margin.”

The Lincoln Project has been dubbed the “Pedophile Project” by Donald Trump, Jr. after the group’s co-founder John Weaver reportedly harassed nearly two dozen underaged boys, one young man saying the sexual messages started when he was 14. The group is also known for widely condemned media stunts, such as in Virginia’s gubernatorial election where it paid actors dressed as racist Charlottesville protesters to erroneously claim support for Republican Glenn Youngkin. Despite the desperate ploy, Youngkin won the election.

Now, the scandal-plagued D.C. group is attempting to get back on its feet after its fall from grace by helping out radical leftist Democrats to attempt to unseat Herrell.

But Congresswoman Herrell responded, “Bring it on! I’m proud to be a true conservative representing our New Mexico values, and I won’t back down.”

It appears the hand-selected choice of the radical New Mexico Democrat Party for the Second District is Gabe Vasquez, a Trump-hating social justice keyboard warrior and Las Cruces City Councilor who believes the United States is “deeply rooted” in “white supremacy.” He has already snagged many of New Mexico’s high-profile endorsements, including that of Democrat Sen. Martin Heinrich. He is also endorsed by porn actor-turned Democrat state Rep. Roger Montoya.
Herrell is asking donors to help her combat the left-wing extremism of the Lincoln Project by donating here.

New Mexicans grieve the passing of GOP former state Rep. Dianne Hamilton

On Wednesday, New Mexicans learned of the passing of Republican former state Rep. Dianne Hamilton, 87, who represented District 38 in Grant, Sierra, and Hidalgo counties from 1998 to 2016.

According to the Grant County Beat

Hamilton was born in Kansas City, Mo., on January 31, 1934, to Dr. Lawrence and Thelma Miller. She attended Catholic parochial schools until high school, graduating from Southwest High in 1951. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 1955 with a degree in education. She taught in Kansas City public schools and pursued a broadcasting career until she married her husband of 60 years, Marine Corps officer John A. Hamilton, in December of 1956.

For the next 20 years Hamilton followed her husband’s career through the military and its many moves while raising their four children: son Drew and daughters Jared, Lynn, and Merritt. After John retired from the Marines in 1974, the family moved to Silver City where John worked for the local copper mine.

Hamilton hosted two daily radio programs in Silver City from 1976-1999. During the last 45 years, she held leadership roles in many community organizations including the Mimbres Arts Council, the Gila Regional Medical Center Foundation, the board of Hidalgo Medical Services, and the Silver City Library Board. In 1980 she became an associate member of her local LULAC council. That same year she helped to found Silver City’s first shelter for victims of domestic violence, El Refugio, which continues to help abuse victims four decades later.

Hamilton was appointed to the Western New Mexico University Board of Regents in 1990 by Governor Bruce King. She served until 1998, serving President of the Board for the last four years of her term. She received the Governor’s Award for Outstanding New Mexican Women in 1994 and was named the Silver City/Grant County Citizen of the Year in 1995.

Many legislators and public officials grieved Hamilton’s loss. Congresswoman Yvette Herrell (R-NM-02) wrote on Facebook, that she was “[s]addened that my dear friend, colleague, and great New Mexican Dianne Hamilton has passed away. She served her fellow citizens faithfully in the NM House of Representatives, and she raised up an amazing and strong family. Please join me in praying for them and celebrating Dianne’s wonderful life!”

State Rep. Rebecca Dow (R-Truth or Consequences) said, “I loved each of our visits and hearing her stories from the Roundhouse. She was a friend and I will miss her dearly.”

“Our community has surely lost a wonderful woman and leader with the passing of Dianne Hamilton,” said State Representative Luis Terrazas (R-Silver City). “I remember hearing Rep. Hamilton on the radio growing up and will forever cherish her mentorship and encouragement to become involved in our community.”

“Representative Hamilton was an excellent advocate for her community, and also helped pave the way for the many women serving in our Legislature,” said House Republican Leader Jim Townsend (Artesia). “Our caucus is proud to have served with Dianne Hamilton, and we will miss her presence and friendship.”

The New Mexico House Republicans wrote, “Our condolences are with the family and friends of former State Rep. Dianne Hamilton. Rep. Hamilton served in the legislature from 1998 – 2016. We will miss Rep. Hamilton’s presence and friendship.”
According to the New Mexico House Republicans, “Arrangements are pending with the New Mexico State Capitol where she will lie state and with St. Francis Newman Center Parish in Silver City. She will be interred with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery.”

Rep. Yvette Herrell crushes Democrat opponent in fundraising by 700%

According to the latest Federal Election Commission reports, Congresswoman Yvette Herrell (R-NM-2) is crushing her Democrat opponent Gave Vasquez in with her fundraising numbers.

The reports show that donors poured $500,192.70 into Herrell’s war chest between July 15 and September 30.

During that timeframe, Herrell’s campaign spent $218,338.24 and closed the period with nearly one million dollars — $980,687.50 — cash on hand.

The Roswell Daily Record reports, “The latest figures bring Herrell’s total fundraising haul since January to $1.3 million, more than seven times what Gabriel Vasquez has received in contributions. A Las Cruces city councilor, Vasquez last month became the first Democrat to enter the race. Reports state he received $70,182.50, and had $9,281.53 in expenditures. He finished the fundraising cycle with $60,900.97 in his campaign account.”

According to the report, The House Freedom Fund, a fundraising arm of the House Freedom Caucus, has already spent $219,146.59 in support of Herrell.

Vasquez has the endorsement of far-left Sen. Martin Heinrich and other left-wing party leaders. He is a fringe Democrat who believes America is a racist nation.

Rep. Herrell schools abortionist: Dismembering a baby is ‘exactly’ what late-term abortion is

During a heated committee hearing in the U.S. House Rules and Oversight Committee chaired by Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Congresswoman Yvette Herrell (R-NM-02) took a radical Texas abortionist, Dr. Ghazaleh Moayedi, to task for the killing of babies in the womb in late-term abortions.

Herrell said, “I come from a state — the State of New Mexico — where obviously late-term abortion is alive and well. I don’t support that, but what I do want to ask you [are] specific questions about the procedure as a whole. Is it true that abortion procedures change based on the gestational age and size of the unborn child?”

Moayedi tried to dodge the question by answering a previous question, but Herrell said, “No, thank you. Please answer my question.”

“So, abortion procedures are individualized to the person, where they’re at in the pregnancy, their unique medical circumstances, and the setting in which we’re providing the [abortion].”

Regarding what procedures are specifically used in late-term abortions, Moayedi said she uses “the same techniques” as an earlier stage abortion but she uses “additional instruments,” such as forceps to break the limbs off of the older unborn baby.

Rep. Herrell then asked what specifically is the difference between an earlier stage abortion and one after 15 weeks gestation.

“We use a combination of gently dilating the cervix using medications and dilators and then removing the pregnancy using suction and instruments,” Moayedi answered.

“So these are more along the line of a dismemberment abortion,” said Rep. Herrell.

Moayedi jumped in claiming, “That is not a medical term.”

Herrell shot back, “But it is used…. The procedure.”

“The procedure is called a dilation and evacuation,” said Moayedi.

Herrell said, “So it is equal to dismemberment.”

The doctor once again claimed the term Herrell used is “not a medical term,” despite that being what happens in the late-term abortion: dismembering a baby in the womb  — which is an incredibly painful and excruciating death for the unborn child.

Herrell said, “Well, I just want to make sure that the public can understand exactly what we’re talking about because we are talking about dismembering a baby with a heartbeat.” She added, “Let’s call it what it is. I’m going to say dismemberment. You don’t have to respond to that but we all know that’s exactly what it is and people need to understand what we are talking about when we’re dismembering arms and legs of a beating heart baby.”

Heinrich uses the tragic deaths of two New Mexicans to raise campaign cash

On Thursday, Sen, Martin Heinrich, who resides in Silver Spring, Maryland, sent out a fundraising email asking his donors for donations by using the deaths of two deceased New Mexicans who allegedly passed away following them taking Ivermectin. NOTE: the Piñon Post has been unable to independently verify the true cause of these two New Mexicans’ deaths. All references to their deaths do not include a cause, as it has yet been unproven what they died of.

In the fundraising email, Heinrich blasts Republican Congresswoman Yvette Herrell (NM-CD-2) for saying Ivermectin may be a remedy for COVID-19, also referred to as the “China Virus.” Heinrich says Herrell is a “Trump Republican” who is pushing “misinformation,” despite surveys proving that in small doses, Ivermectin may, indeed, be a possible cure for the virus.

“Two New Mexicans have died and many more have been hospitalized due to misuse of this drug, yet Republicans continue to push misinformation to score political points,” writes Heinrich, then mentioning Herrell’s racist Democrat opponent, who Heinrich has endorsed, Gabe Vasquez.

Vasquez is a rabid anti-Trump conspiracist who believes the United States is a racist nation and that Herrell should be “expelled” from Congress for not voting to certify the 2020 election, which was wrought with election fraud in multiple states.

Heinrich then asks his supporters to split a donation between his campaign and that of the Democrat Party of New Mexico, writing, “So, ahead of tonight’s end-of-quarter deadline, will you split a donation of any amount between my campaign and the New Mexico Democratic Party to power our work to elevate leaders who value science and delivering results for New Mexicans?”

During the pandemic, others used COVID-19 to raise money, including Ben Ray Luján and Deb Haaland who utilized the virus to raise funds and to bash President Donald Trump.

WATCH: Rep. Herrell delivers GOP response to Biden’s border crisis

On Saturday, Congresswoman Yvette Herrell delivered the Republican response to Joe Biden’s border crisis. Herrell represents New Mexico’s Second District, which includes New Mexico’s border with Mexico — straight in the middle of Joe Biden’s border catastrophe. Here’s what Congresswoman Herrell said in her address:

The district I represent is right on the border with Mexico. I have seen the Biden border crisis firsthand and so have many families in southern New Mexico who feel totally abandoned by their government and by their president. They know we need to preserve Title 42 to defend our border from new outbreaks of COVID. They also know we need to implement the successful ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy.

Today I met with the ambassador from Guatemala who was even more invested in helping us secure our border than … Biden. Unfortunately, there is a fundamental division in Washington. Republicans believe that our government has a duty to protect our citizens and secure our border.

We believe that our government has a responsibility to know who illegally crosses our border and then enforce the law. But Washington Democrats do not believe that Americans have the right to protect their home or even question the surge of thousands of non-citizens into the country. Instead, they would rather demonize the brave men and women of our Border Patrol and ICE ( and hide from accountability.

Democrats in Congress would rather ignore Joe Biden’s humanitarian disaster than give up their dream of open borders. But Americans won’t be distracted — not by the media or the Radical Left.

We stand for our workers, we stand for Law Enforcement, we stand for safe communities, we stand for borders, we stand for America.
