NM GOP and Trump Victory reach historic milestone with 2.7 million voter contacts

On Monday, the Republican Party of New Mexico and the Trump Victory team announced that they had hit a historic milestone this election cycle, with over 2.7 million voter contacts in the state, which is “the largest effort in the history of the GOP in New Mexico,” the release said.

The Party said that since the 2020 campaign cycle had begun, the Republican Party’s partnership with Trump Victory resulted in more than 767,000 doors knocked, two million phone calls made, with over 1,400 volunteers phone banking and doork-knocking across the state. “Hundreds more volunteers are working around the clock to re-elect President Trump and turn the Roundhouse red,” the Party. 

“NM Trump Victory has had more than 14,000 volunteer engagement events in New Mexico. All of these efforts and a unified Republican message have led to more than 30,000 newly registered Republicans in New Mexico.” 

“The push to turn New Mexico red is the largest effort in the history of the GOP in New Mexico. NM Trump Victory and RPNM have created a massive statewide infrastructure that’s unprecedented in the state. The energized GOP campaign includes personal contacts, phone banking, TV, radio and digital ads and billboards, as well as other campaign and candidate outreach.” 

Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce said, “This massive statewide effort and these impressive numbers not only demonstrate the drive and commitment of the Trump Campaign and RPNM this election, but also the understanding of how important it is to turn New Mexico red in 2020,” adding, “We are on a mission to win. Our teams and staff are making history in an unprecedented effort to re-elect President Trump and Republicans down ballot across the state. The President’s leadership, accomplishments and love of our country will continue to move America forward.”

The massive volunteer efforts to turn New Mexico Red have clearly garnered much success, with increased voter turnout this election. According to Bernalillo County Clerk Linda Stover, 12,814 people early voted in Albuquerque on Saturday alone. Many times, people waited in long lines to cast their ballots. 

Another indicator of Democrats fearing a win for President Trump and Republicans in New Mexico is the increased vandalism of political signs, with one individual even having their young horse shot dead in a possible politically motivated attack. 

Republicans have many pickup opportunities, both in Congressional races and state legislative races, where far-left Speaker of the House Brian Egolf is dumping money from his Speaker Fund into many contentious contests. President Donald Trump has set his eyes on New Mexico and its five electoral votes this election, saying the Land of Enchantment is “a state I think we can win.”

Unknown suspect shoots Trump supporters’ horse in possible politically charged attack

On the evening of October 7th, Gale and Marietta Shell, who live about five miles north of Springer, in Colfax County, discovered their young horse had been shot dead sometime between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m.

Their property, which faces I-25, and has a large display of pro-Trump flags on large flag poles, could have been a target due to their outspoken support for President Donald Trump and could be a possible reason why their property was targeted.

According to Marietta Shell, the corral fence where the young filly, which is valued at $4,500, was located was not visible from the highway, and the culprit would have had to stop to take the shot. She says that there is just a certain window where the killer could have positioned to shoot the horse dead, according to the Shells’ neighbors and children.

Mrs. Shell explained that they could not find a bullet or casing to identify the type of gun that shot the filly, but she believes the bullet may have hit the horse’s flank or lung area, which killed her instantly since she did not bleed out.

The incident was reported to the Colfax County Sheriff’s Department and the Livestock Board. The Sheriff and livestock inspector had filed reports on the matter. There have been no known developments in the case. 

Gale and Marietta Shell have been in the horse business for over 50 years, and they have never had a horse shot before. Due to Mr. Shell’s medical conditions, being around the horses serves as a therapy for him, but Mrs. Shell says, “This type of thing is so hard for him because he is really really attached to the horses.”

“It was just absolutely heartbreaking.” They “always had horses and It’s the best therapy in the world for my husband,” she said.

The possible politically motivated attack comes just weeks before the November 3, 2020 election, and as hundreds of Trump supporters across New Mexico have had their signs vandalized or stolen. The Piñon Post has extensively covered the vandalism of private property, specifically political signs.

President Trump says New Mexico is ‘a state I think we can win’

On Thursday morning, President Trump joined Fox Business’ Maria Bartiromo for his first interview since he contracted COVID-19. 

During the interview, the President touched on many topics, but one, in particular, was securing the 2020 election and making sure that Americans can make their votes count despite the fraud that has already occurred running up to the November 3rd election.

During the interview, President Trump reiterated that he intends on winning the Land of Enchantment and that he has the “U.S. Marshal and the U.S. Attorney watching” the election play out. 

“We have law enforcement watching him very strong. The U.S. Attorney is watching [the Governor of Nevada], very strongly. The U.S. Marshal is watching. In New Mexico, a state I think we can win, we have the U.S. Marshal and the U.S. Attorney watching him. So, it’s not, it’s not easy for them because we have people watching. Nobody ever had. It’s a corrupt system because they are sending out millions of ballots,” said the President. 

The New Mexico Democrat Party has already signified they intend on doing ballot harvesting, specifically targeting senior citizens. 

One of the Democrat Party’s caucus chairs, Pamelya Herndon, revealed on a fundraising call for U.S. Senate candidate Rep. Ben Ray Luján and congressional candidate Rep. Xochitl Torres Small, that the Democrat Party is actively organizing members to visit elderly family members and drop off their ballots at polling locations. She said that the law allows people to deliver “at least one absentee ballot to a polling location” from a person who is not themselves.

She said, “Go by and talk to your senior citizens. See if those ballots have been put in the mail, and if not, pick it up and take it to a polling location… you can take at least one absentee ballot for a member of your family to a polling location. We want every ballot counted, Congressman [Ben Ray Luján] because we want to see that you and Xochitl Torres Small and everybody on that ballot for the Democratic Party gets elected.”

According to state law the practice of picking up and delivering absentee ballots is as follows:

A voter, caregiver to that voter or member of that voter’s immediate family may deliver that voter’s absentee ballot to the county clerk in person or by mail, provided that the voter has subscribed the outer envelope of the absentee ballot.

MLG has hissy fit on Twitter after Pelosi refuses to negotiate with Trump on COVID-19 relief

In September, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham testified in front of the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services, asking them to bail out New Mexico, citing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and low oil prices. 

During her testimony, she repeatedly claimed she would be “tightening” her “belt” in the coming months and years. However, she has spent billions of state dollars on her costly pet projects, including implementing a new state department offering free daycare and the “Energy Transition Act,” which will totally wipe out all oil and gas producers within a few short years. Currently, 39% of New Mexico’s budget is sustained by the oil and gas industry.

While President Trump’s team has been trying to work on a second round of COVID-19 relief for Americans, Democrats have refused to negotiate with the Administration’s proposals, the President offering up to $1.6 trillion in relief, whereas Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and her caucus have refused to make concessions from their $2.4 trillion proposal. 

On Tuesday, President Trump wrote on Twitter, “Nancy Pelosi is asking for $2.4 Trillion Dollars to bailout poorly run, high crime, Democrat States, money that is in no way related to COVID-19. We made a very generous offer of $1.6 Trillion Dollars and, as usual, she is not negotiating in good faith. I am rejecting their request, and looking to the future of our Country. I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election when, immediately after I win, we will pass a major Stimulus Bill that focuses on hardworking Americans and Small Business. I have asked [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell not to delay, but to instead focus full time on approving my outstanding nominee to the United States Supreme Court, Amy Coney Barrett. Our Economy is doing very well. The Stock Market is at record levels, JOBS and unemployment also coming back in record numbers. We are leading the World in Economic Recovery, and THE BEST IS YET TO COME!” 

Clearly rattled by the President’s statement, Lujan Grisham retweeted the President’s post, writing, “Thousands of New Mexicans need the federal government’s help right now. Not November, not whenever you get around to it. The pandemic is real, the economic crisis is real – whether you believe in them or not, Mr. President. Do your job.” 

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Lujan Grisham refused to trim the fat off of her bloated 2020 $7.6 billion state budget, trimming it to only $7.22 billion, while cutting $318 critical federal COVID-19 relief for tribal communities and local governments. 

Lujan Grisham has totally locked down New Mexico, which has killed most industries, including the tourism industry, which trickles down into many sectors of the economy. As of the latest jobs number report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, New Mexico’s unemployment rate was 34% higher than the unemployment rate nationwide and nearly double that of every neighboring state, including Colorado, which is also run by a Democrat governor. The neighboring states’ unemployment numbers are as follows: Arizona at 5.9%, Colorado at 6.7%, Texas at 6.8%, and Utah at 4.1%.


Lujan Grisham has refused to ease coronavirus restrictions in recent weeks, with the state’s small businesses and even larger businesses being forced into temporary or permanent closure. Just this week, the governor has gone after a trampoline park for reopening, while the state has seen more businesses shuttered.

Heinrich refuses to wish Trump well during COVID-19 recovery, bashes him instead

On Friday, every single member of New Mexico’s congressional delegation, except for one, commented on President Donald Trump’s and First Lady Melania’s COVID-19 diagnosis, with most writing their thoughts and prayers, while some gave back-handed words of goodwill. 

There was one member of New Mexico’s delegation who did not comment on the President’s and First Lady’s diagnosis: Senator Martin Heinrich. 

Even some of the farthest left Democrats, Ben Ray Luján and Deb Haaland wrote words of encouragement. Luján wrote, “Sending my wishes for a quick and full recovery to President Trump and the First Lady and staff,” while Haaland said, “I wish the President & the First Lady well, and I hope their positive tests remind us that no one is untouchable.” They also mentioned masks, and Haaland even wrote, “During that time essential workers, single moms, & healthcare professionals have put their health on the line to pay the bills & serve our communities. COVID19 attacked our country because our President refused to seriously acknowledge it.” 

But instead of commenting on the President and First Lady being diagnosed with coronavirus, he chose to bash President Trump for his administration “fast-tracking” mining permits. 

He wrote, “You just need to look at all of the damage to our clean air and water caused by poorly planned abandoned mines around the West to understand why it’s a bad idea to fast-track mining projects without proper review.” He added, “One more short-sided, greedy, and destructive move by this White House.” 

So, while President Trump is recovering from COVID-19 at Walter Reed Medical Center, New Mexico’s junior senator could not even murmur the slightest statement of good will toward the 45th Commander-in-Chief, instead choosing to bash him over a policy position.

New Mexicans react to President Trump and First Lady Melania testing positive for COVID-19

Early Friday morning, President Donald Trump announced that he and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for COVID-19, writing, “Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!” 

“Get well Mr President! Prayers for you and the First Lady” wrote Sandoval County Commissioner Jay Block.

“Pray for our President and First Lady,” wrote Republican candidate for Congress in the Third District, Alexis Martinez Johnson. 

“Prayers for President Trump!” wrote the Republican Party of New Mexico.

Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce wrote:

Cynthia and I are lifting up the President and First Lady in prayer tonight! We pray that they have a speedy recovery and remain healthy. We are in this together!

Instead of wishing the President well, Rep. Deb Haaland instead retweeted a post about the U.S. Census. 

Sen. Martin Heinrich did not comment, but rather tweeted about air quality in U.S. schools.

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham tweeted the following statement:

My thoughts are with the president and the first lady. I’m wishing them a speedy and full recovery. This virus is vicious. It can and will infect anyone. We’ve all got to double down on safe practices and look out for each other. Please wear a mask.

Sen. Tom Udall wrote the following:

We all wish the President and the First Lady a quick recovery from this dangerous virus— it truly can affect anyone. #COVID19 is spreading in New Mexico, so we all must follow public health guidelines, wear a mask, physically distance, and keep our communities safe.

Rep. Xochitl Torres Small wrote on Twitter:

I am wishing President Trump and the first lady a quick recovery. Nathan and I are praying for their health and their family in this difficult time.

Rep. Ben Ray Luján tweeted out this statement:

Sending my wishes for a quick and full recovery to President Trump and the First Lady and staff. Now more than ever, it’s important to avoid large gatherings, wear a mask, and stay safe. This virus has touched so many of our families, but we can beat it — together.

Rep. Deb Haaland, who was the last of the federal delegation to comment, authored a snarky back-handed greeting on Twitter, writing:

Over the past many months thousands of Americans have suffered from this virus. During that time essential workers, single moms, & healthcare professionals have put their health on the line to pay the bills & serve our communities. COVID19 attacked our country because our President refused to seriously acknowledge it. This virus is deadly, & very real. I wish the President & the First Lady well, and I hope their positive tests remind us that no one is untouchable. We must listen to the scientists & do all we can to stop this virus. #MaskUp

Trump says his team is ‘working hard in New Mexico’ and that he ‘will be there soon’

On Friday, President Trump shot off a morning tweet to the people of New Mexico, touting his work to protect the Second Amendment and his building of the wall on New Mexico’s southern border with Mexico.

The President wrote, “Working hard in New Mexico. I built the Wall (security) and will totally protect your Second Amendment (The Dems want to obliterate it!). Will be there soon!” 

The tweet possibly signals that the President or his team will come to the state to rally the troops in a “peaceful protest,” or possibly he will send a surrogate of his campaign to the state, such as his son Don Jr., who previously came to New Mexico for a Latinos for Trump event.

In recent weeks, the Trump team in New Mexico has been holding massive events, notably the “Women for Trump” bus tour, which has been getting large crowds, and the Trump Victory team has been knocking on hundreds of thousands of doors across the state, looking for a Republican win in November.

Deb Haaland blasts Trump as a ‘dictator’ while telling followers ‘I refuse to lose my power’

On Wednesday, far-left Democrat Rep. Deb Haaland (NM-1) took to Twitter to blast President Trump for calling for fair elections. The President has repeatedly spoken about all mail-in elections being prone to voter fraud, which has proven to be true.

Haaland called the President a “dictator,” saying only despotic leaders in countries “where elections are predetermined” speak as he has. However, Haaland’s party has embraced socialism, which is the ideology running through many failed states, notably Cuba and Venezuela, which are lush with natural resources. Yet, their undemocratic socialist dictators have turned them into some of the poorest places on Earth.

Haaland did not stop there. In a statement that likely only a dictator would make, she wrote, “I refuse to lose my power,” urging all of her followers to sign up to vote. 

Haaland’s Republican opponent Michelle Garcia Holmes responded, writing on her Facebook wall, “Earlier today Deb started out her tweet with these words. Last I checked Congress is the ‘People’s House.’ She’s why we have to get the POWER back to the people!”

Haaland votes 95% of the time with socialist Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), 96% of the time with Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and 96% of the time with Rashida Tlaib (D-MI). She has been a far-left champion of the Democrat Party’s most fringe policies and called a violent Antifa mob of domestic terrorists “peaceful protesters.”

Lujan Grisham cries ‘Trump recession’ while NM has 34.5% higher unemployment rate than nation

On Friday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics published the August unemployment numbers. While the country’s rate has fallen significantly from 10.2% in July to 8.4% in August, New Mexico continues to remain stagnant at 11.3%, which is 25% higher than the national rate, and the sixth-highest in the nation.

While other states’ economies are opening back up, New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham still is keeping a tight lockdown, with extremely gradual reopenings, such as at Thursday’s presser where she announced “limited” youth sports to start, ice hockey rinks to open, and pumpkin patches to resume. 

However, the Governor’s lockdown has forced thousands of businesses to close and New Mexico working families to suffer while she has spent away the Federal stimulus funds granted to the state for COVID-19 relief. Last week, she asked Congress for yet another bailout, which was met with fury from local business owners due to her irresponsible budgeting.  

Larry Behrens from Power the future said of the 11.3% New Mexico unemployment rate, “It’s no coincidence that at the same time New Mexico’s unemployment rate is among the highest in the country our energy workers are struggling. Radical environmentalists and their allies in Santa Fe may celebrate when an energy worker loses their job, but behind our abysmal unemployment rate are real families who are hurting.”

On Wednesday, Lujan Grisham attempted to brush off her state’s failed economy under her leadership by blaming what she called the “Trump recession” hurting Hispanic and Latino communities in a tweet. She claimed Trump’s “failed pandemic response” led to suffering in these communities, despite the President taking early action to combat the COVID-19 pandemic while Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden (who Lujan Grisham endorsed) blasted Trump as “xenophobic” for restricting travel from China, where the virus originated. 

Now, while the country is getting back on track to economic progress, Lujan Grisham’s New Mexico lacks behind as the 45th in unemployment, despite her claiming “We’re doing about the same economically as Arizona” in her Thursday press conference. Arizona, led by Republican Gov. Doug Ducey, has a much lower unemployment rate than New Mexico. All of New Mexico’s neighboring states have lower unemployment rates, with Arizona at 5.9%, Colorado at 6.7%, Texas at 6.8%, and Utah at 4.1%.

Later on Friday, Lujan Grisham sent out an email to supporters bashing President Trump’s leadership during COVID-19, writing “President Trump has single-handedly botched the coronavirus response, refused to take action while knowing how deadly and dangerous COVID-19 would be – and proclaimed he ‘take[s] no responsibility’ and that ‘nothing more could have been done.’”

Crow Tribal Chairman endorses President Trump, following Navajo Nation VP’s endorsement

On Tuesday, Vice President Mike Pence met members of Montana’s Crow Tribe and U.S. Senator Steve Daines to officially accept the endorsement by Tribal Chairman Alvin Not Afraid, Jr. 

“Today I stand before you to endorse, as well as support, President Trump, Vice President Pence,” said Not Afraid, Jr. 

According to Indian Country Today:

“The Crow, since the early 1800s have always been an ally to the government,” Not Afraid, Jr. said. “From the Battle of Little Bighorn, World War II, Vietnam, and I, myself in the Marine Corp just after Desert Storm.”

He added the Trump administration has helped the Crow Tribe in amending the Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance which allowed them to permit their own mineral resources.

The chairman also said he’s worked with the other candidates in various capacities including through Congressional hearings he’s testified at.

On the Crow Tribe website, it features a quotation from Not Afraid, Jr., saying, “More than anything, we desire to improve the Crow quality of life. We strive to create a future that provides an abundance of good-paying jobs while providing hope and prosperity for generations of Crow citizens. Through unity, the Apsáalooke people shall prosper.” 

The endorsement of Trump and other Republican candidates marks a shift for Indigenous people who support the America First policies of the Trump/Pence administration.

Last month during the Republican National Convention, Navajo Nation Vice President Myron Lizer endorsed President Trump in a video standing in front of the historic Shiprock in northeast New Mexico.

Later, Lizer wrote on Twitter, “Ahé’hee, Thank you Mr. President @realDonaldTrump for sharing my #RNC2020 video on your Twitter account. As mentioned, we welcome you to our Navajoland, as we look forward to hosting you, to discuss economic development on opportunity zones near the Navajo Nation.” 

Across the Navajo Nation, billboards sponsored by TurningPoint USA have been raised to build awareness for Indigenous people supporting President Trump.

In June, during the heat of the COVID-19 pandemic, President Trump’s son, Don Jr. addressed the Navajo Nation across the radiowaves.

“No Navajo child should have to leave the Navajo Nation to pursue the American dream,” said Don Jr. He also mentioned that the Trump Victory team and his team will have “staff on the grown throughout the campaign,” something many Republican candidates have not done in the Navajo Nation.

The tides appear to be turning in the Navajo Nation and other Tribal nations across the United States, where Indigenous people seem to be walking away from the Democrat Party.
