Chris Edwards, felon and self-dubbed ‘progressive,’ attacks Otero conservatives

Over the past few weeks, a self-proclaimed “progressive” calling himself Chris Edwards — also known as “Martin Christopher Edwards” — has been launching vicious attacks against conservatives, specifically pro-lifers who he opposes in Alamogordo. They include conservative Alamogordo City Commissioner Karl Melton and myself, the Republican nominee for New Mexico House District 51.

Edwards has a so-called media operation that is seeking to mislead Otero County Republicans and infiltrate our conservative community with far-left radicalism. Beyond his “progressive” views, Edwards is also a convicted felon with a long criminal record who had fled to Mexico, suffers from undiagnosed bipolar disorder, according to his attorney, and has actively promoted Democrats, including Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), along with longstanding support for Planned Parenthood.

Otero County Republicans should read on to learn the dangers of this shady individual and should also be wary of trusting anything published by Edwards’ blog “2nd Life Media” and a publication Edwards is closely connected with, “New Mexico’s Influence Magazine.”

Chris Edwards’ Far-Leftist Activities

Edwards is a fervent supporter of Planned Parenthood and social justice causes. He is pro-lockdown and pro-Dr. Fauci. Edwards says he has “consulted” on at least two local Democrat candidate campaigns in the 2022 Primary and General elections. He claims his clients include pro-abortion judge candidates Rev. Warren Robinson and Claudia Powell. Despite the claims, according to finance reports, Edwards is on neither of the candidates’ payrolls.

As he wrote on his own website, in 2020, Edwards “aligned” with two left-wing organizations to attack conservative candidates via “opposition research” and previously publicly shamed donors to a political action committee that supported a ballot measure he opposed. On his LinkedIn profile, he writes that he “has demonstrated results in crafting opposition negative campaign ads,” along with “opposition marketing tactics.”

He is the “co-owner” and “CEO” of an entity called 2nd Life Media/ ROADRUNNER EMPORIUM Inc. on New York Avenue in Alamogordo, according to a filing with the New Mexico Secretary of State. The other owner is his partner, a man named Rene Lee Sepulveda.

According to Edwards’ blog, “2nd Life Media Inc is a vertically integrated consulting and operating company.” He calls it a “multimedia and consulting company” partnered with “Roadrunner Emporium Fine Arts, Antiques and More Gallery, Gallery 1209, and via the soon to be revitalized Sands Theater Partnership.”

A twice-failed candidate for Napa City Council in California, Edwards was accused in his previous races of “dirty politics” for misleading elderly voters during candidate forums.

Dee Cuney, a woman who attended Edwards’ controversial forum, said, “It’s very, very disappointing that people were misled,” adding, “That’s dirty stuff.”

Edwards has posted on his Facebook page a multitude of “LGBTQ+” pride content, anti-Trump posts, support for the ANTIFA-linked Black Lives Matter hate group, and photos with Democrat politicians and activists, such as Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and George Takei. Other posts include photos reading “#IStandwithPP” (Planned Parenthood) and “Unapologetically Pro-Choice (Abortion),” support for failed Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and former President Obama, posts reading, “I stand with Fauci,” “I support DACA,” among others disparaging conservatives and promoting far-left politics. Yet Edwards is trying to dupe conservatives into believing he is an “independent” voice. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Edwards’ Long Criminal History

Along with his “dirty” left-wing political activity, Edwards has a years-long past of criminal activity, pleading guilty and being convicted of felony mail fraud and tax evasion in 2014. The Department of Justice charged him after he was wanted by the FBI as a fugitive for 23 counts of mail fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering. The “fraudster,” as the Bureau put it, was finally apprehended after fleeing to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, seven months following his failure to appear in federal court. He was found at Hacienda Escondida Private Villas, where he claimed to work as a “sales marketing director,” according to his LinkedIn profile

The Department of Justice charged Edwards, and he was found guilty of embezzling $900,000 between May 2010 and October 2012 from his employer, the online fulfillment wine company, The Wine Tasting Network, a subsidiary of 1-800 Flowers. He did this by directing the network to make large payments through a fake entity he set up called Dufrane Compliance Trust. The Department of Justice said that the fictitious entity “purported to provide compliance services to wineries and wine retailers.”

According to the FBI, “Edwards … deposited these funds into an account he controlled and withdrew them for his own personal use, including the purchase of a BMW, which has since been seized by law enforcement authorities.” Along with the BMW, Edwards used the embezzled funds for “ expensive vacations and lavish meals.” According to Edwards’ Twitter account, he spent time on vacation in such places as Hawaii. He claims to have “traveled to 46 countries.”

One portion of Edwards’ criminal indictment reads, “MARTIN CHRISTOPHER EDWARDS, did knowingly and intentionally devise a schemeto defraud, and to obtain money and property by means of materially false and fraudulent pretenses … and concealment were false and fraudulent when made, and, for the purpose of executing such scheme and artifice, did knowingly cause the following items to be sent and delivered by the United States Postal Service, and private and commercial interstate carriers (emphasis added).”

According to the Napa Daily Register, Edwards’ lawyer claimed during the trial, “Edwards suffered from chronic depression, a bipolar disorder, drug and alcohol addictions, all of which contributed to his compromised judgment.” Whether or not Edwards is currently treated for bipolar disorder is unknown.

Edwards was sentenced in September 2014 to nearly three years (33 months) in federal prison and ordered to pay $894,222 in restitution to the Wine Tasting Network. Bay City News reported that prosecutors “said Edwards did not declare any of the [embezzled] money on his federal income tax returns in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Edwards’ plea agreement also included an enhancement for obstruction of justice for a flight he took to Mexico to avoid prosecution.”

This is not the first run-in Edwards had with the law.

Previously, Edwards was convicted of two misdemeanors for larceny-theft in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. He was initially charged with two felony counts of embezzlement for defrauding the fast food company Hardees, where he worked at the time in its corporate offices, “but Edwards agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanor counts of larceny for an amount more than $200 and was ordered to pay restitution,” according to the Daily Register.

The news of his previous conviction came out during Edwards’ failed 2005 run for Napa City Council, where he said he was “dismayed that public records still contain information about his conviction,” according to the newspaper. With his later 2014 conviction, it appears Edwards did not change from his old ways.

Edwards Attacking Alamogordo Conservatives

Edwards has recently transplanted himself to Alamogordo, New Mexico, where he admits to pushing progressivism in the heavily conservative area, including viciously attacking conservative candidates and pro-life policymakers who are moving the community forward.

The attacks ramped up as Alamogordo City Commissioner Melton proposed, and the Commission successfully passed a resolution declaring Alamogordo a sanctuary city for the unborn in August. The only two dissenting votes came from Mayor Susan Payne and Commissioner Sharon McDonald. Payne insisted she is “100 percent pro-life” but refused to support a resolution protecting life.

A long-time supporter of Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry, Edwards wrote in 2017, “I have supported the missions of Planned Parenthood for years,” while bashing pro-life sidewalk counselors outside of abortion clinics as “extremist.” He added in the post, “ I stand pink to show my support of Planned Parenthood.”

Screenshot of Edwards’ post professing to support Planned Parenthood for “years”

Apparently angered that Alamogordo stood up for the lives of the unborn, he attempted unsuccessfully to elevate pro-abortion organizers’ petition demanding a special election for a referendum on the pro-life resolution.

After the pro-abortion petitioners, calling themselves “New Voices Otero,” failed to reach the mere 589 signature goal despite having 30 days to organize, Edwards wrote a blog post viciously attacking Commissioner Melton and myself, paying homage to his former days of “dirty politics” in Napa. He claimed criticisms of the mayor were “propaganda” despite her vote against the pro-life resolution and her signature prominently featured on a petition, which bashed the commission that she oversees as “extremist.”

Increasingly angered by his political loss when the petitioners’ signatures were thrown out by the City Clerk, Edwards decided to attack me, claiming with absolutely no evidence that I or someone affiliated with me sent copies of his federal indictment to unknown individuals via the U.S. Postal Service. Now, Edwards is falsely claiming mail fraud, when in actuality, he spent years in federal prison after being convicted of not only mail fraud but also tax evasion and larceny, among other crimes. Mr. Edwards appears to be projecting his own previous criminality. If such letters did, indeed, get sent out, the plausible suspect would be himself.

After Edwards’ attacks against myself and Commissioner Melton fell flat, Edwards filed a slew of frivolous Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) requests with the City of Alamogordo, attempting to undermine the premise of the resolution, claiming there was no support for it. In the process, Edwards doxxed a local resident who requested Commissioner Melton propose the measure. He posted in a blog entry a screenshot of an email showing personal information about where she lived and even published her unredacted email address.

For someone who claims to be so invested in Alamogordo and has so much at stake, he seems fine with wasting city staff’s time and money with his manic IPRA requests.

In one subsequent unhinged blog post, Edwards got confused and falsely accused Commissioner Melton of submitting a September IPRA request under my name, despite not checking the signature. A simple signature match could have proven he was incorrect. Still, he published the defamatory article anyway without a hint of fact-checking. More Napa Valley “dirty politics.”

Edwards has continued to attempt to lace together conspiracy theories about Commissioner Melton, who owns a legitimate conservative consulting service, Conservative Compliance LLC, unlike Edwards’ fictitious Dufrane Compliance Trust that defrauded nearly $1 million. Edwards cooked up multiple far-out conspiracies through his “2nd Life Media” Facebook account. One such false claim was that Conservative Compliance’s client list included County Commissioner Couy Griffin, even though that would legally be required to be reported to the Secretary of State’s office.

While trying to shift the topic after his theories disintegrated, Edwards ended up claiming that non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations are a “tax dodging ploy” in the apparent attempt to attack non-profit pro-life groups. His baseless theories seem to be a projection of his days sitting behind bars for tax evasion

In one of Edwards’ Facebook posts, it shows an image of him with a filter reading, “I pay more taxes than Trump,” ironic since his lack of paying taxes when he systematically defrauded 1-800 Flowers landed him behind bars for nearly three years.

A photograph posted by Edwards on Facebook.

Edwards wrote in one of his blog posts that he will not quit harassing conservatives in Alamogordo until “they rise to the occasion of true leadership, end the attacks on those that differ in opinion and embrace open dialog with a civil tone to seek areas of compromise for a better Alamogordo.”

If only Edwards would take his own advice and end his obsessive attacks against people fighting to move Alamogordo forward and represent the conservative values of our community.

Now, the far-left Chris Edwards continues to ignore his self-righteous standards and instead launch vicious attacks against Alamogordo conservatives. As he keeps attacking with his Napa Valley-style “dirty” smears and promoting abortion up-to-birth/LGBTQ+ groups, locals should watch carefully the many ventures he is closely affiliated with. That includes a new magazine, “New Mexico’s Influence Magazine,” and the businesses he has purported to own or operate. At face value, the magazine attempts to come off as even-handed. However, knowing “progressive” Edwards is behind it, conservatives should use extreme caution.

More information will be released in due course on individuals such as Edwards; This first report just scratches the surface. New Mexicans must continue to be vigilant of leftists, many with crime-filled, shady pasts, attempting to implement far-left California policies into our conservative community.

As Edwards wrote in one post, “We are working to change the extremism, But we need the help and support of progressive businesses like those downtown Roadrunner Emporium, ReneFit, New York Art and Music Studio, the Game Shop on New York and others.”

What exactly is the “extremism” Edwards is trying to cut out of Alamogordo, and how exactly does he intend to do this through “progressive” businesses, many of which he has a financial interest in? It is still unclear if the $894,222 ordered in restitution for Edwards’ embezzlement has yet been paid.

While the facts presented in this article have been extensively verified for correctness and accuracy, the author’s recommendations on actions Otero County conservatives should take are purely opinion.

Mayor doubles down on pro-abortion rhetoric, attacks Otero County

On Tuesday, the Alamogordo City Commission met to discuss the failure of the pro-abortion petition aiming at dismantling the city’s Sanctuary City for the Unborn resolution passed last month via a special election. The City Clerk reported that the petitioners only gathered 507 of the required 589 signatures, meaning their petition, which did not follow proper protocol in filing, was tossed out.

During the meeting, Mayor Susan Payne, who voted against the pro-life resolution and signed the pro-abortion petition that called the Commission “extremist,” doubled down on her opposition to the Sanctuary for the Unborn resolution.

Despite insisting on being “100 percent pro-life,” she claimed, “I will maintain with pride my stance that this is not a function of city government.”

She then said she would like to go back and change her vote on a previous resolution applauding Otero County for its pro-life resolution, which she sponsored, saying, “I voted ‘yes’ on the second resolution, and quite honestly, I shouldn’t have done that either. I wasn’t really voting for or against life. I was voting to support our county, which has got its own issues right now. So my plan is actually probably to bring that resolution … that second resolution for us to revisit it. I can’t do anything about the first one.”

She then, on a subsequent Facebook comment on an article about the petition’s failure, bashed Otero County Commissioner Couy Griffin, who supported the City’s pro-life resolution, as a “grandstanding local politician.”

At the special August meeting she called on consideration of the pro-life resolution, Payne said regarding her “no” vote to declare Alamogordo a Sanctuary City for the Unborn, “This is a very controversial subject, and I’m going to be honest with you. It might make some people mad at me, and you know what? If you can’t respect the way I feel, that’s kinda your deal. But this is a very controversial subject, and one I have said all along I did not believe was a function of city government. And I still believe that. I believe that very strongly.”

An independent analysis of the pro-abortion petition obtained via an IPRA request found that the signers only had 502 apparently valid signatures — 87 shy of the necessary threshold to call for a costly special election. These included 48 invalidated signatures due to the lack of an address, extremely illegible entries, or duplicate signatures, and 86 signers who were not registered voters.

Alamogordo’s pro-life resolution sponsored by conservative Commissioner Karl Melton of District Three stands intact despite pro-abortion efforts to kill it.

Petition to strip Alamogordo’s pro-life sanctuary resolution fails miserably

Pro-abortion radicals suffered a crippling defeat Tuesday when they failed to get a mere 589 signatures for a special election to overturn Alamogordo’s resolution declaring itself a Sanctuary City for the Unborn previously passed by the Alamogordo City Commission, according to documents obtained via an Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) request.

The City wrote in a press release, “A petition to take Resolution 2022-38, passed by City Commission on August 2, 2022, at a Special Meeting, for referendum was filed with the City Clerk on September 1, 2022. In accordance with NMSA 1978 § 3-1-5. Petitions, examinations of signatures; purging; judicial review, and in consultation with the Secretary of State and New Mexico Municipal League, the petition did not meet the statutory requirements. As such, the city will take no additional action on this matter.”

The pro-life measure passed in August with support from all but two apparently pro-abortion members, Mayor Susan Payne and Commissioner Sharon McDonald, on the seven-member commission.

The pro-abortion radicals who attempted to force a special election that would cost $30,000 in taxpayer funds included an unregistered group, “New Voices Otero,” with influence from outside pro-abortion organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

Although pro-abortion individuals make up the extreme minority in conservative, pro-life Alamogordo, the tiny band of radicals organized and declared that they got enough signatures on Thursday, September 1 — the deadline for submission.

But on Tuesday, the City of Alamogordo confirmed that the pro-abortion organizers had failed to meet the signature threshold. This failure deals them a crippling blow and the inability to waste city taxpayers’ funds on a frivolous election — an election which would have only reaffirmed the City Commission’s stance that the rights of the unborn are precious to city residents.

The resolution affirms that “each and every innocent human life is unique and precious to God,” while “human life begins at the moment of conception and continues, uninterrupted, until the moment of natural death,” according to scientific evidence. It also concludes, “The City Commission hereby declares itself a Sanctuary City for the Unborn.”

The pro-abortion petition’s failure is also a blow to Mayor Payne, who not only voted against the pro-life resolution but signed the pro-abortion organizers’ petition that erroneously dubbed the City Commission “extremist.” She also advocated on behalf of the petition, telling the Alamogordo Daily News, “I appreciate the hard work that everybody’s put into this.”

Payne recently responded to a negative, anti-Trump commenter on the Facebook post of City Commissioner Karl Melton, who sponsored the pro-life resolution. The commenter wrote regarding pro-life U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton, “Tom Cotton is another fascist MAGA traitor,” adding, “The democracy hating GOP won’t stop until they suppress every vote that isn’t for them.”

Payne commented to the detractor, “lol me thinkst [sic] this is happening right here in our fair city recently,” apparently referring to pro-life Republicans making a difference in Alamogordo. Payne also leaked a private conversation she was involved in between city officials to a fringe leftist blogger and convicted felon who supported the pro-abortion radicals’ petition.

During the meeting to pass the resolution, Payne told the audience before voting against the pro-life resolution, “This is a very controversial subject, and I’m going to be honest with you. It might make some people mad at me, and you know what? If you can’t respect the way I feel, that’s kinda your deal. But this is a very controversial subject, and one I have said all along I did not believe was a function of city government. And I still believe that. I believe that very strongly.”

An independent analysis of the pro-abortion petition by the Piñon Post obtained via an IPRA request found that the signers only had 502 apparently valid signatures — 87 shy of the necessary threshold to call for a costly special election. These included 48 invalidated signatures due to the lack of an address, extremely illegible entries, or duplicate signatures, and 86 signers who were not registered voters.

The City’s count showed the petitioners had only 507 valid signatures — 82 shy of the 589 needed for a special election.

Following the news of the petition’s failure, Commissioner Melton said, “Alamogordo residents showed that they will not fall for the deception from the pro-abortion radicals. The petitioners only needed to get 589 signatures, less than 2% of the population.”

He added, “The fact that they failed to meet such an easy target is proof that the vast majority of Alamogordo is pro-life. I will continue to do my part to encourage a culture of life here in Alamogordo and Otero County.”

The Commission’s pro-life resolution stands intact, alongside a similar resolution passed by the Otero County Commission standing up for the right to life in the community.

Pro-life win: Alamogordo becomes sanctuary city for the unborn

On Tuesday, the Alamogordo City Commission held a special meeting to discuss two pro-life resolutions. One, sponsored by City Commissioner Karl Melton of District 3, declared Alamogordo a sanctuary city for the unborn. Another that was said only to be brought forth as a weaker resolution brought forth by Mayor Susan Payne also was considered.

Melton’s resolution was introduced following the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson ruling, which sent the abortion question back to the states by overturning the archaic 1973 pro-abortion Roe v. Wade decision. Because New Mexico allows abortion up-to-birth, the resolution was meant to tell the abortion industry it is not welcome in Alamogordo to kill children in the city. Otero County recently passed a similar resolution declaring itself a pro-life sanctuary.

“I have brought forward Resolution 2022-38 because my constituents are worried Alamogordo has no resolution or ordinance on the books protecting unborn life. This measure not only affirms life from conception to natural death, but it declares Alamogordo a Sanctuary City for the Unborn,” said Melton.

“As far as I see it, if we do nothing, it is not a question of if but when a facility opens up in Alamogordo. We as a commission will be forced to take action later if we do not take it tonight,” Melton continued. “We can decide to be proactive and announce our opposition to any abortion business moving in city limits tonight, or we can procrastinate, decide to kick the can down the road, and only discuss options after Planned Parenthood has already made its plans to move. These realities are why this resolution is so important today. Our community is fervently pro-life.”

Many residents showed up to support Melton’s resolution, with pro-life testimony outweighing anti-life sentiments made. An out-of-state-funded dark money group worked to spam commissioners’ inboxes with opposition to the resolution from out of the city and state. However, pro-life testimony outnumbered the efforts of the extremist group.

“My prayer for everyone in this room and in the comment section online is that you receive the consequence and experience of your words you speak in favor for concerning the unborn,” said resident Ben Luna.

Another woman said, “God has made every one of us for a purpose, and each of the babies that [do] not survive and is aborted was made for a purpose.” She added, “It’s wrong to take the life of that child away.”

County Commissioner Couy Griffin showed up to the meeting, saying, “Life is the greatest gift that God has ever given us.” Griffin said, “You all have a great honor tonight to stand for life, to defend life, and protect life. But I would stand in great fear if I was a vote taht supported taking life because, again, life is not ours to take. That life is God-orchestrated, God-designed, and God-breathed.”

Piñon Post’s John Block, the nominee for House District 51, said, “By boldly declaring our city a sanctuary for the unborn, you are not just making an important and necessary statement; you are declaring that those who wish to shed innocent blood are not welcome in our city and do not stand with the values our fervently pro-life community believes in.”

During the discussion among the commissioners on the resolution, Mayor Susan Payne said, “The biggest thing about this resolution for me, both of these resolutions — first of all, let me make it clear. I brought forth the second resolution as an alternative to the first resolution.”

“This is a very controversial subject, and I’m going to be honest with you. It might make some people mad at me, and you know what? If you can’t respect the way I feel, that’s kinda your deal. But this is a very controversial subject, and one I have said all along I did not believe was a function of city government. And I still believe that. I believe that very strongly,” Payne said.

“I’m not gonna like pander to anybody,” claiming, “I am personally pro-life…. But more than pro-life, I am pro-supporting women.” Payne concluded, “I do not believe this is a function of city government, and I agree with the notion that we have so many things to worry about in this city.”

“Quite frankly, this is not an issue right now.”

Melton replied, “I also have my faith, but when I introduced my resolution, my reason for bringing it forward had nothing to do with my faith; I didn’t invoke religion. Quite simply, I brought it forward because I have heard from constituents that this is what they want, and I am in this role to represent them.” Melton added, “A lot of the controversial issues are the issues that are worth fighting for.”

The Commission passed the sanctuary city for the unborn resolution on a vote of 5-2, with Mayor Payne and Commissioner Sharon McDonald voting against it, while Commissioners Melton, Nick Paul, Stephen Burnett, Josh Rardin, and Mayor Pro-Tem Dusty Wright supported it. Payne’s resolution, merely to support the County’s efforts, was passed by a vote of 6-1, with McDonald being the lone vote against. Payne voted for her own resolution despite claiming it was not a “function of city government.”

Alamogordo City Commission meeting Tuesday to vote on pro-life sanctuary measure

On Wednesday, the Alamogordo City Commission announced it will consider a resolution brought forward by Commissioner Karl Melton of District 3 to make Alamogordo a sanctuary city for the unborn.

The resolution affirms that “each and every innocent human life is unique and precious to God,” while “human life begins at the moment of conception and continues, uninterrupted, until the moment of natural death,” according to scientific evidence.

“[A]s recently as March 2017, the American College of Pediatricians published an Abstract stating that “The predominance of human biological research confirms that human life begins at conception – fertilization. At fertilization, the human being emerges as a whole, genetically distinct, individuated zygotic living human organism, a member of the species Homosapiens, needing only the proper environment to grow and develop. The difference between the individual in its adult state and in its zygotic state is one of form, not nature,” the resolution continues.

It concludes, “The City commission hereby declares itself a Sanctuary City for the Unborn.”

“I am incredibly proud to introduce this resolution to secure the most important right there is: the right to life. This issue has never been more important than it is today now that Roe v. Wade has been overturned. Pro-life public servants must do their part to keep abortion facilities out of their communities,” said Commissioner Melton about his proposed resolution. “With this measure, we are standing strong alongside our friends in the County to declare that the City of Alamogordo is a sanctuary city for the unborn. I could not be happier to stand up for the right to life.”

New Mexicans are urged to show up in support of the resolution, which is 2022-38. The meeting details are below:

WHERE: Sgt. Willie Estrada Memorial Civic Center, 800 E 1st St, Alamogordo, NM 88310

WHEN: Tuesday, August 2nd at 6:00 p.m.

WHAT: Stand in support of Resolution 2022-08 to declare Alamogordo a sanctuary city for the unborn.

ALERT: There is another resolution being proposed, 2022-37, which merely agrees with another resolution passed by the Otero County Commission. It does not, however, declare Alamogordo a sanctuary for the unborn. It is not the strongest resolution the commission could pass to boldly declare support for the unborn.

Commissioner Melton’s resolution is necessary since the Dobbs v. Jackson case decided on June 24, 2022, by the U.S. Supreme Court sent the abortion issue back to the states. Because of this, abortion centers have been targeting New Mexico as a “safe haven” for killing babies in the womb. Many abortion facilities have been making plans to move or are actively moving to New Mexico to kill more unborn children. With Resolution 2022-38, the City will boldly declare abortion is not welcome in the City of Alamogordo.

Piñon Post’s John Block wins GOP primary for NM House seat

On Tuesday, Piñon Post editor and founder John Block of Alamogordo won the Republican primary for New Mexico’s 51st state House seat, defeating two-term incumbent state Rep. Rachel Black. Block got 1,540 votes (51%) to Black’s 1,494 (49%). The margin of victory was large enough not to go to an automatic recount.

Despite being outraised and outspent in the race, Block, who is running an America First campaign, organized hundreds of small-dollar grassroots donors and knocked on countless doors, with the help of volunteers, to earn the primary win.

Block’s campaign focused on stopping Critical Race Theory in New Mexico schools, working to lower gross receipts taxes, protecting the right to life, and working to fix the border crisis by finishing President Donald Trump’s wall and banning sanctuary cities for criminal aliens.

After securing the win, Block wrote, “I am overwhelmed by the incredible support of Alamogordo. Tonight, we showed that we can bring change to our district.”

“Through our hard work and a lot of support, I am happy to say that with all precincts reporting, our America First campaign is victorious! I look forward to the General Election ahead, and I am blessed by all the support. I thank God for each and every one of you and our great city of Alamogordo,” he added.

In the race, Block raised $30,833.68 from mostly all small-dollar donors, while his opponent raised $39,445.00, nearly all from lobbyists and politicians, not including money she carried over from her previous campaign account. Black spent $42,698.05 while Block spent $26,659.94, according to filings submitted to the Secretary of State’s Office.

Block will go up against Democrat SharonLee Cummins in the November General Election. Block has the endorsement of President Trump’s U.S. Ambassador to Germany and former acting Director of National Intelligence Richard “Ric” Grenell. He also has support from the Oil & Gas Workers Association, Sandoval County Commissioner Jay Block, Lea County Sheriff Corey Helton, Calibers gun store owner Louie Sanchez, former lt. governor candidates Isabella Solis and Anise Golden Morper, as well as GOP state treasurer nominee Harry Montoya and GOP secretary of state nominee Audrey Trujillo.

Far-left Alamogordo mayoral candidate blows up at Piñon Post editor, calls him an ‘a**hole’

On Tuesday night, after the Alamogordo City Commission meeting, Mayor Pro-Tem Nadia Sikes confronted Piñon Post editor and founder John Block, claiming the October 20, 2021 article written about her radical record was not factually accurate.

Once Block took his phone out to get the conversation on record, Sykes had a much different tone. Block asked her what was factually inaccurate specifically about the article, to which she claimed her abortion stance was not accurately portrayed, claiming full-term abortions rarely ever happen.

When pressed regarding her specific stance, she repeatedly said, “I’m pro-choice,” while dodging questions on if she supports any regulations whatsoever on abortion. Once she began backing away, Mr. Block pointed out his opinion that he hopes Ms. Sykes loses the election, to which she said, “What an a**hole” for all commissioners and the public to hear.

Despite her erroneous claim that the October 20 article was factually inaccurate, she has yet to formally request a retraction on any specific part she deemed to be supposedly inaccurate.

Block released the following statement following the altercation:

It’s a shame that a person like Ms. Sikes has attained any office of public trust, especially in the City of Alamogordo, a place where respect and family values are cherished. Ms. Sikes using profane words toward a constituent, much less a member of the press, automatically disqualifies her from this race and proves why she is not fit for any position of public trust.

The video recorded by Mr. Block of the incident is below:

Pro-abortion, anti-Trump Democrat Nadia Sikes running for Alamogordo mayor

The race is heating up for Alamogordo’s open mayorship as incumbent Mayor Richard Boss is not running for reelection. Two Alamogordo City Commissioners, Susan Payne and Nadia Sikes are vying for the position.

Sikes is a retired marketing professional. Sikes has been a far-left voice, shouting down citizens participating in meetings and publicly shaming citizens for not wearing masks or obeying tyrannical edicts from Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.

But in Alamogordo, which went predominantly to President Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020 and has long been a Republican stronghold, Sikes has been rabidly anti-Trump and supportive of extreme late-term abortion.

In multiple posts on Sikes’ Facebook page, she has posted vulgar content about the 45th President, including a post of someone holding a sign that said, “Our expectations were low but HOLY F**K.” In another post, Sikes shared a post comparing President Trump to Benito Mussolini, which read, “Holy f**king s**t.”

CAUTION: Vulgar language included in Sikes’ posts:

While Democrats ran their first sham impeachment charade against President Trump, of which he was overwhelmingly cleared by the U.S. Senate, Sikes wrote, “Happy Impeachment Eve!” President Trump held a “Save America,” rally on January 6, 2021, in Washington, D.C., which resulted in many ANTIFA infiltrators dressed in MAGA gear leading a few Trump supporters into the Capitol. After this happened, Sikes wrote on Twitter regarding senators who voted against the Democrats’ second failed impeachment sham, “44 votes. 44 senators are okay with insurrection. Good to know.”

On January 19, 2017, the day before President Trump was sworn in, Nadia Sikes changed her profile picture to that of former President Barack Obama. In another post, Sikes called Obama “the best President we’ve ever had.”

Sikes has shared multiple posts promoting abortion up-to-birth groups, and even participated in multiple abortion marches, such as the “Women’s March” and the “Roe v. Wade Commemorative Demonstration,” celebrating the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion-on-demand in America. Sikes has also shared “climate change” conspiracy posts promoting the fringe activist Greta Thunberg and content from the disgraced anti-Trump PAC, the Lincoln Project.

On Sikes’ radio program she runs out of KRSY AM 1230, she has interviewed extreme abortion up-to-birth groups Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains and Young Women United, Democrat Sen. Martin Heinrich, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s lieutenant governor, Democrat Howie Morales, among other far-left figures, and organizations.

But her rabidly anti-American social media posts are not the only thing Sikes has to face the voters over. She also has personally targeted citizens of Alamogordo, including lodging a complaint against a postal worker, Rich Merrick, apparently claiming he is tampering with her mail because he has exercised his First Amendment rights at City Commission meetings. Nadia’s complaint failed, but her attempt at going after a citizen’s livelihood to get back at someone politically appears to be the lowest a person can go.

The complaint came years after Merrick spoke out against Sikes at Commission meetings in 2015 because Sikes used her official capacity as a commissioner to try and close a gun show being held at New Mexico State University Alamogordo.

Sikes has consistently bashed citizens who do not support Gov. Lujan Grisham’s mask mandates and has voted against multiple resolutions brought forth before the City Commission against these draconian rules. Sikes calls them “public health guidelines.” Watch a moment from an August 2021 meeting here:

Sikes endorsed extremist Democrat Gabe Vasquez for Congress against incumbent Congresswoman Yvette Herrell (R-NM-2). Here is Sikes pictured on Vasquez’s website:

The municipal election is November 2, and citizens will make a decision on whether they want a radical far-left extremist to serve as the mayor of conservative Alamogordo or a conservative Christian to serve as mayor.

Otero County Commission unanimously passes resolution against MLG’s unconstitutional edicts

On Thursday night, the Otero County Commission passed a resolution offered by Commissioner Couy Griffin to denounce the “unconstitutional” health orders signed by scandal-ridden alleged serial groper Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and her New Mexico Department of Health. The resolution also declared “that those officials who enforce or abide by these unconstitutional health orders violate their oaths of office and their duty to the people of NewMexico.”

The special meeting took place at the Flickinger Center in downtown Alamogordo to accommodate the large number of individuals who made their voices heard on the resolution.

Many citizens spoke in support of the proposal, including medical professionals, veterinarians, retired Military personnel, mothers, fathers, and children. One provocateur spoke against the proposal and attempted unsuccessfully to question the Commission. All other commenters supported the resolution, which has some of the most powerful language of any other local resolution in Otero County.

The Alamogordo Public School Board passed a benign agenda item supporting parents’ choice in schools, while the Alamogordo City Commission passed a resolution affirming its support for citizens’ rights against an overreaching government.

In a previous Alamogordo School Board meeting, the Board only allowed 15 people in the meeting due to “social distancing” and required masks for all attendees, regardless of medical exemptions or vaccination status.

The Commission through the resolution affirmed that “Otero County is authorized to make and publish resolutions necessary and proper to provide for the safety, preserve the health, promote the prosperity, and improve the morals, order, comfort and convenience of its inhabitants.”

Also, the commission affirmed that “every person, including the Board of County Commissioners, elected or appointed to any office has taken and subscribed to an oath or affirmation that he or she will support the constitution of the United States and the constitution and laws of the State of New Mexico and that he or she will faithfully and impartially discharge the duties of his or her office to the best of his or her ability.”

After public comment and a question and answer session with Otero County Sheriff David Black, the Commission unanimously passed the resolution, with Commissioners Couy Griffin, Vickie Marquardt, and Gerald Matherly all supporting the resolution.

Monday protest planned against forced vaccines at Holloman Air Force Base

On Monday, September 13, a protest is planned outside of Holloman Air Force Base against the forcible vaccination of Military service members by Joe Biden.

According to a flyer obtained by the Piñon Post, organizers will be meeting at 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. outside of the Front Gate outside of Holloman Air Force Base outside of Alamogordo.

According to a press release from Holloman, “In accordance with the Safer Federal Workforce Task Force guidance, attestation of an individual’s status as fully vaccinated or presentation of a recent negative COVID-19 test is a condition of physical access to DOD buildings and DOD-leased spaces in non-DOD buildings in which official DOD business takes place.”

It continues:

This guidance applies to all individuals issued a credential by DOD that affords the individual recurring access, classified herein as “credentialed recurring access” (CRA) (e.g., Common Access Cardholders), to DOD facilities, and to non-DOD individuals seeking access, one time or recurring, in association with the performance of official DOD business. Regardless of whether an individual is authorized to telework or perform remote work, all DOD civilian employees and DOD contractor personnel with CRA must attest to their vaccination status by completing DD Form 3150. Civilian employees and contractor personnel who are unvaccinated for COVID-19 or who decline to attest to their COVID-19 vaccination status will be subject to COVID-19 screening testing weekly. Such civilian employees and contractor personnel who refuse required screening testing will be denied access to DOD facilities.

Individuals other than visitors seeking access to facilities located on DOD installations but operated by other Federal Departments and Agencies will follow the policies and procedures of that other Department or Agency. Visitors will follow applicable policies and procedures of both DOD and the Department or Agency they are visiting.

“After careful consultation with medical experts and military leadership, and with the support of the President, I have determined that mandatory vaccination against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is necessary to protect the Force and defend the American people,” Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin wrote in a memo released earlier this month.

The forcible vaccination and coercion of Military service members has been applauded by far-left politicians such as Alamogordo City Commissioner Nadia Sykes, who is attempting to run for the mayorship of Alamogordo.

The base is housing at least 5,000 Afghan refugees who escaped their home country amid Joe Biden’s Afghanistan fiasco where billions of dollars in American arms were seized by the Taliban, who took over the country. It is unclear if they are being vaccinated.
