MLG to promote abortion up-to-birth during Tuesday DNC speech

Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is set to deliver a prime-time speech at the Democrat National Convention (DNC) on Tuesday evening in Chicago. The speech will focus on healthcare issues, a controversial topic for the far-left governor.

While Lujan Grisham enjoys her position in the national spotlight as she auditions for a potential posting in the nonexistent Harris regime, it’s essential to reflect on her contentious record, particularly her harsh pandemic lockdowns and extreme abortion stance.

Lujan Grisham is no stranger to the DNC stage, having spoken remotely at the 2020 convention from a solar array in New Mexico as she had New Mexico under cruel lockdowns during COVID-19.

Her lockdown measures were some of the most severe in the nation, shuttering businesses and keeping families separated for months on end. While the governor claimed these measures were necessary, many New Mexicans suffered immensely, with businesses permanently closing and countless livelihoods disrupted. She also repeatedly flouted these lockdown orders, in one case, to buy jewelry at a shuttered business she had reopened just for her.

Despite the harsh pandemic measures, Lujan Grisham seems more focused on her radical agenda, particularly her obsession with abortion. She has staunchly advocated for abortion up to birth, the most radical stance possible.

In 2021, she signed a bill overturning New Mexico’s long-dormant state abortion protections, effectively making the state a hub for late-term abortions. Lujan Grisham’s priorities have consistently aligned with radical pro-abortion policies, ignoring the values of many in her state.

On Tuesday, Lujan Grisham will share the stage with high-profile Democrats like Barack and Michelle Obama at the United Center, once again positioning herself as a national figure.

While her speech is expected to focus on health care, her record in New Mexico tells a different story—one of failed leadership during the pandemic and a fixation on abortion at the expense of other critical issues, such as crime, which she has only recently begun to focus on as Albuquerque ranks 20th most deadly city in the world.

In addition to her speech, Lujan Grisham will participate in a panel discussion with actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus and other female Democrat governors on Wednesday. While the governor enjoys the attention of the national stage, her record in New Mexico is a stark reminder of the damage caused by her lockdown policies and her extreme stance on abortion.

New Mexico continues to struggle with a shortage of healthcare providers, and Lujan Grisham’s administration has attempted to address this by recruiting abortion doctors and pro-abortion nurses from Texas. However, her policies—particularly during the pandemic—have done little to resolve the state’s chronic healthcare challenges. Under her leadership, malpractice insurance skyrocketed for doctors, forcing countless providers to flee to other states where they would not be sued into bankruptcy due to New Mexico’s sue-happy laws that favor trial attorneys — not patients or providers.

Lujan Grisham’s political ambitions have always been clear, and her national presence at the DNC further cements her continued attempt for the spotlight. However, New Mexicans must not forget the consequences of her policies: brutal lockdowns that harmed businesses and communities and her unwavering commitment to an abortion-up-to-birth agenda that remains out of step with many in her state.

MLG squanders more taxpayer cash trying to lure pro-abortion docs. to NM

Advertisements in Sunday’s Austin American-Statesman, Dallas Morning News, and Fort Worth Star-Telegram invite pro-abortion Texas medical professionals to consider relocating to New Mexico due to Texas’ life-affirming laws that protect women, babies in the womb, and medical professionals.

These taxpayer-funded ads feature an open letter from far-left, pro-abortion Democrat New Mexico Gov. Lujan Grisham, urging pro-abortion Texas doctors to move to New Mexico if they are unable to practice under Texas’ life-affirming laws. Similar advertisements have appeared in the Houston Chronicle and the San Antonio Express-News.

“I know that legal restrictions on healthcare in Texas have created a heavy burden for medical practitioners—especially those of you now barred by law from providing the full spectrum of reproductive healthcare,” the letter states. “It must be distressing that a draconian abortion ban has restricted your right to practice and turned it into a political weapon.”

Additionally, six billboards with the message “free to provide” have been placed around the Houston Medical Center, encouraging medical professionals to relocate to New Mexico.

In her letter, Grisham emphasizes that New Mexico lawmakers are “fiercely committed to protecting medical freedoms here and we’re taking steps to ensure that what happened in Texas never happens in New Mexico.”

After Roe v. Wade was overturned, Texas passed a law protecting life in the womb, with exceptions. This law has led to a 99.89% decrease in abortions in the state. Multiple legal challenges have been filed, but the Texas Supreme Court rejected one such lawsuit in May.

Abortion remains legal up to the date of birth in New Mexico. Recently, Gov. Grisham has taken steps to push for Texans to abort their young in New Mexico, including legislation firming up the state’s pro-abortion up-to-birth laws.

Gov. Grisham has also allocated $10 million to establish a new abortion facility near the Texas border, which Democrats rammed through in 2023’s capital outlay bill, despite Republican and Democrat opposition.

“You have my word: I will never interfere with the fundamental right of health workers to care for their patients in New Mexico,” Grisham wrote, despite during COVID-19 forcibly jabbing nurses, doctors, residents, and all other medical professionals, or they would lose their jobs.

She also interfered with bodily autonomy in a myriad of ways, including lockdowns and mask mandates that carried heavy fines for noncompliance, among other draconian measures that heavily restricted New Mexicans’ bodily autonomy.

“Whether you are a nurse, a resident, a physician assistant, or a doctor, we cordially and enthusiastically invite you to the Land of Enchantment, where you are free to care for your patients.”

On the New Mexico Department of Health website, pregnant children are encouraged to abort their babies in the womb, with it reading, “Abortion is legal in New Mexico. People over the age of 13 can get an abortion without permission from their parents.”

MLG admin. cooks up scheme to lure pro-abortion, ‘gender-affirming’ docs.

The New Mexico Department of Health has launched a multi-state campaign aimed at attracting pro-abortion and “gender-affirming” healthcare professionals to New Mexico, per a report from the Santa Fe New Mexican.

“Every day we’re looking for ways to try to attract more people to New Mexico to meet the health care needs of our state,” Health Sec. Patrick Allen said. He emphasized that states like Texas and Arizona create a political and legal environment where healthcare providers are restricted from mutilating children and aborting babies up to birth.

The “Free to Provide” campaign, lasting one month, features online advertisements on social media in metropolitan areas of Texas and Arizona, as well as six billboards in the Medical Center Area of Houston, according to department spokesman Robert Nott, who formerly was a reporter at the New Mexican

The campaign cost approximately $350,000 and includes a dedicated website, freetoprovidenm.org, where healthcare workers can find information about New Mexico job opportunities, including links to the state’s Health Professional Loan Repayment Program and the Rural Health Care Practitioner Tax Credit Program.

In total, the state partnered with around three dozen New Mexico hospitals and clinics, consolidating and linking their job postings on the campaign’s website, organized into five regions for easy navigation.

Allen highlighted the collaborative effort, saying, “They were enthusiastic. They’re like us — they’re interested in trying to hire good people, and anything that we can do to make their job openings more visible is a benefit to them.”

New Mexico has faced a shortage of healthcare workers for years, requiring thousands more hires to reach a standard provider-to-population ratio, according to a 2023 report from the New Mexico Health Care Workforce Committee.

At the end of the four-week campaign, the department will assess its impact and consider extending or expanding the campaign to other southwestern states if necessary.

Allen reiterated the campaign’s goal, stating, “We need more of everything everywhere, whether it’s primary care providers or OBGYNs in Albuquerque or practitioners in rural parts of the state. We’re really trying to aim at that notion of, ‘This is a good place to practice, it’s a good place to live, and you can come here and practice without some of the risks and concerns that you face in other states.’”

What was not mentioned in the ad is the cost of malpractice insurance in the state, which previously was astronomical, has been reduced to a more manageable — yet expensive — level.

As fires ravage NM, Lujan Grisham touts open borders, abortion on national TV

In a Sunday interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation” with Margaret Brennan, far-left Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham addressed a range of pressing issues in her state, from natural disasters to immigration and reproductive rights. However, her comments on these topics have drawn criticism, particularly regarding her stance on abortion and border security.

The interview began shortly talking about the fires ravaging New Mexico, with the governor mentioning working with the Biden regime, saying, “And I have to say, the Biden administration has really pushed through these emergency declarations quickly so that we can get families back on their feet.” This comment comes despite Biden waiting nearly a week to declare an emergency to unlock federal funds to help. However, a majority of the Face The Nation interview focused on the border and abortion.

Brennan then asked her, “I wonder if all of this excessive heat is affecting the migrants crossing in from Mexico?”

“So we haven’t seen the kind of surges outside of the ports of entry that folks in other states have seen… But right now, we’re focused on the security aspects announced by the Biden administration,” she responded.

Despite being a border state governor, she has refused to put any state resources to help stem the tide of illegal immigration, the only governor to completely shun the border crisis. Even Democrat Govs. Gavin Newsom of California and Katie Hobbs of Arizona have deployed resources to fight illegal immigration and the flow of deadly fentanyl.

Instead, Lujan Grisham dismissed the crisis, trying to say “everywhere else around the country” suffers from this issue, too.

“Make no mistake, New Mexico, just like everywhere else around the country, suffers from the number of drugs, guns, and related nefarious issues that are exacerbated by not having people in the right places at the border,” she said, despite deploying any resources to the border.

Brennan asked further, “It sounds like you could even use more (resources) than that. I know you were here in Washington with the president when he signed that executive order that restricted the ability to claim asylum for those crossing in between ports of entry. You know, some of your fellow Democrats were very critical of that, saying it undermines American values. Why are they wrong?”

“Well, they’re not wrong. I mean, frankly, the President then did a- a balanced approach, when he’s creating protections and work opportunities for undocumented families, part of a legal right, a US citizen is married to someone who’s undocumented, or as other extended family members and DACA recipients and dreamers can now get protections,” she responded, applauding Biden’s efforts to attempt to legalize more criminal aliens who broke the law by entering the country illegally.

Lujan Grisham then tried to take a shot at Trump after Brennan pressed her on why the ACLU is suing Biden for border policies, responding, “We’re making it really clear you can come through a port of entry. I have a president that unlike Congress, including when I was in Congress, it is willing to focus on security, fairness, whether that’s in one or two different decisions, and creating, I hope, a pathway for Congress to stop listening to a candidate (Trump) who continues to try to score political points, instead of solve problems for states like mine, and American families, he’s doing both.”

In 2019, when Lujan Grisham yanked all state resources from helping with the border crisis, she said, “I reject the federal contention that there exists an overwhelming national security crisis at the Southern border,” adding that the deadly area has “some of the safest communities in the country.” She also labeled the focus on solving the crisis as a “charade of border fear-mongering.”

When discussing abortion rates in New Mexico, where 21,000 babies were killed last year, 14,000 of them being from Texas, Lujan Grisham doubled down on abortion up-to-birth policies enacted by her administration and the Democrat-ruled Legislature. Lujan Grisham defended the state’s abortion up-to-birth policies, attributing rising abortion rates to barriers faced by women.

“I think there are more abortions happening because more women are at risk, which means they can’t get into a provider, they can’t get prenatal care,” she complained, despite her administration helping purge access to doctors in New Mexico by raising medical malpractice rates, which resulted in providers fleeing New Mexico to states like Texas, where they are not hostile to doctors, while also supporting the right to life with life-affirming policies.

“You create a draconian situation; you’re going to increase risk at every single place,” Lujan Grisham claimed. In New Mexico, the “draconian” abortion up-to-birth policies have left women maimed and even killed, while babies have been killed even after birth. Infanticide has happened inside and outside of abortion facilities, including children being born and left to die on delivery room tables (at UNM Hospital) or children being born and killed by their mothers, such as what happened at Artesia Hospital in 2023.

As Gov. Lujan Grisham navigates ongoing emergencies in New Mexico, her mishandling has been criticized by all sides, including Democrats, as she continues to finish her final term as governor.

14,000+ Texas babies killed in NM last year: Report

In 2023, approximately 70% of the estimated 21,000 abortions performed in New Mexico were on patients who traveled from Texas to kill their unborn babies, according to a study by the Guttmacher Institute, a pro-abortion research organization.

This means that about 14,200 Texas babies were killed in the womb in New Mexico, marking a tragic influx since the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Texas law protects life in the womb unless the life or health of the mother is at risk.

The increase in abortions in New Mexico has been dramatic, with a more than 260% rise since 2020. Many attribute this rise to Texas’ pro-life laws. Additionally, around 400 patients traveled from Oklahoma and Arizona for abortions.

The percentage of out-of-state abortion “patients” in New Mexico surged from 38% in 2020 to 71% in 2023, the highest proportion in the country. This influx demonstrates the extreme lengths to which individuals will go to kill the babies in their wombs, a stark reality that highlights the tragic loss of unborn lives.

Each month, about 1,610 abortions are performed in New Mexico, with the number exceeding 2,000 in March 2023 alone. Nationally, the New York Times reported that 171,000 patients traveled out of their home states for abortions in 2023, indicating a widespread movement driven by restrictive state laws.

Isaac Maddow-Zimet of the Guttmacher Institute commented on the extensive travel for abortion services, stating it shows “just how far people will travel to obtain the [abortions] they want and deserve.” However, from a pro-life perspective, this highlights the urgent need for stronger protective measures for unborn children across the United States.

The study’s estimates are based on monthly surveys from abortionists near state borders and statewide data collection, reflecting a comprehensive overview of interstate abortion trends.

For more detailed information, the full report is available on the Guttmacher Institute’s website.

MLG’s $10M abortion center to service Texans one step closer to being built

Editor’s note: a previous version of this article incorrectly indicated the abortion center would be $10 billion, not $10 million.

A new abortion facility received the green light from the University of New Mexico’s Board of Regents on Wednesday to proceed with its building plans. The organization behind the facility can now purchase land for its construction.

Last year, the Legislature approved $10 million for an abortion center in Doña Ana County after pro-abortion Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham forced the funds through in the capital outlay bill — resulting in Republicans and even some Democrats voting against the measure because of her proposed $10 million state-run abortion mill.

Since then, UNM, Planned Parenthood, and fringe dark money groups Bold Futures New Mexico and Strong Families New Mexico have collaborated and engaged other pro-abortion community groups to develop a plan for the center.

Heather Smith of Bold Futures stated, “Our communities have been lacking [abortion] services for decades,” she informed the UNM Board of Regents.

“Source New Mexico” writes that as well as abortions, the state-funded center will offer so-called “gender affirming care.”

The acquisition of land, located at the Lohman Medical Park campus in Las Cruces, was approved by a 6 to 1 vote. UNM Medical Group will manage the 8,000-square-foot facility.

The contract price for the land is $1,030,630, which will be funded from the state appropriation for the project.

Charlene Bencomo, the executive director of Bold Futures, said the steps taken by the university’s board of regents give the green light to finalize the land deal and begin designing and staffing the facility. The facility is set to be Texas’ back-alley abortion facility for Texas mothers to utilize abortion tourism to visit New Mexico and end their child’s life at the state-funded center.

They also plan to collaborate with UNM to start a training program and work with the New Mexico Doula Association to integrate doula care into the center.

Two women injured at UNM abortion facility in single day

On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, the University of New Mexico Center For Reproductive Health (UNMCRH), a freestanding abortion facility, was the site of two separate abortion-related medical emergencies documented by volunteers from Abortion Free New Mexico.

These incidents marked the eighth time such events have been recorded at this location since the initiation of the group’s daily prayer vigil, “No Sidewalk Without The Savior,” which began in April 2022.

The first emergency unfolded at approximately 2:30 PM, when emergency response teams, including a fire engine, two ambulances, and a police car, arrived at the scene. A woman was seen being transported out of the facility on a gurney to an ambulance.

A similar situation occurred again around 4:00 PM, with another woman requiring urgent medical attention. Both individuals were taken to a local emergency room, and the specifics of their conditions post-incident remain unclear.

The UNMCRH not only offers abortion services up to 24 weeks of pregnancy but is also involved in training resident physicians in abortion procedures through the Ryan Residency Training Program.

In response to these events, Tara Shaver, a spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico, released a statement condemning the practice of abortion.

She expressed to Life News, “Abortion at any stage of pregnancy is a brutal violent act. Precious unborn children pay the ultimate price with their lives but many times, as documented twice today, women sustain life-threatening injuries because abortions are incredibly invasive and unnatural. Many women seeking abortions are not fully aware of the risks and they are even less likely to be told, by the abortion industry, about the alternatives to abortion. The pro-abortion community doesn’t care about women’s health, they just demand unrestricted abortion regardless of the life-threatening consequences.”

Volunteers from Abortion Free New Mexico maintain a consistent presence at Albuquerque’s abortion facilities, advocating for the lives of unborn children and providing information on alternatives to abortion to women considering this option.

NM Dems lose their minds after AZ court upholds pro-life law

On Tuesday, the Arizona Supreme Court upheld the state’s longtime pro-life law, which effectively prohibited abortions in the state.

“The decision — which could shutter abortion clinics in the state — effectively undoes a lower court’s ruling that stated that a more recent 15-week ban from March 2022 superseded the 1864 law,” one report noted.

The state’s pro-abortion Democrat Gov. Katie Hobbs claimed the decision marked “a dark day” in her remarks at a press conference, despite babies’ lives being saved after the ruling.

Following the landmark decision, New Mexico Democrats wailed on X, formerly Twitter, about the decision.

Democrat Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez of the Third Congressional District called the ruling “disgraceful,” calling women who travel to New Mexico to abort their babies “healthcare refugees” in a severely unhinged post

Democrat Sen. Martin Heinrich blasted the decision, claiming the decision will “strain access in states like New Mexico.” Previously, Heinrich admitted that New Mexico taxpayers are footing the bill for abortion tourism.

Rep. Melanie Stansbury of the First District, a radical Democrat, used the decision to try and convince voters to support the far-left, abortion-up-to-birth Democrats, writing, “Across this country, we’re seeing our right to reproductive healthcare attacked and taken away. When we put Republicans in power this is what we get. In November vote for your rights, vote for Democrats.”

Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham wrote, “Today’s extreme decision to reinstate a 160-year-old ban on legal abortion is a draconian step backward that puts the health of countless Arizona women at risk. New Mexico continues to provide access to abortion and other reproductive health services,” in a melodramatic post.

Gabe Vasquez, who represents the Second District, a far-left Democrat, has so far not released a statement, although he is fervently pro-abortion up-to-birth and endorsed by radical abortion groups.

The New Mexico Democrat Party wrote in a post, “Today, the Arizona Supreme Court upheld an antiquated abortion ban … because Trump overturned Roe v. Wade – just one day after he looked into the camera & bragged that he is ‘proudly the person responsible’ for overturning Roe.”

The Democrats went on to attack Republican U.S. Senate nominee Nella Domenici.

Abortion tourism explodes in NM as out-of-staters drive huge increase: New study

According to numbers released by the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute’s Monthly Abortion Provision Survey, New Mexico saw roughly 20,970 abortions in the state, an approximated 370 percent increase from 2019, which saw 4,470, and an increase of 257 percent from 2020, which saw around 5,880.

Of those nearly 21,000 New Mexico abortions, 14,550 of them were from out-of-state (69 percent), meaning 6,420 (38 percent) abortions were performed on in-state residents. In comparison to the Institute’s 2020 numbers, there were only 2,260 abortion tourists that year, an increase of 544 percent in just three years.

The institute notes, “Estimates include data on procedural and medication abortions provided at brick-and-mortar health facilities (such as clinics or doctor’s offices), as well as medication abortions provided via telehealth and virtual providers.”

In just four years, the state has seen an approximate increase of 16,500 abortions annually. On average, New Mexico saw around 1,758 abortions performed each month, or around 59 per day, mostly from out-of-state.

New Mexico saw the second-highest percentage of increase in abortions, being beaten only by Wyoming, which had a 433 percent increase since 2020. In 2021, Democrats in the state Legislature passed a bill legalizing abortion up to birth for any reason, which pro-abortion Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham gleefully signed.

Nationwide, the Guttmacher Institute notes that 1,026,690 were performed in 2022, an increase of 11 percent since 2019, which saw 916,460 abortions.

California performed the most abortions, with around 178,420 last year; New York came in second with 131,440; Illinois ranked third with 90,790; Florida ranked fourth with 86340; and New Jersey ranked fifth with 58,420. New Mexico had the 16th-highest number of babies killed in abortion, per the report.

Another finding from the report was the amount of medication abortions committed across the country. “New Guttmacher Institute research from the Monthly Abortion Provision Study shows that there were approximately 642,700 medication abortions in the United States in 2023, accounting for 63% of all abortions in the formal health care system. This is an increase from 2020, when medication abortions accounted for 53% of all abortions,” wrote the leftist pro-abortion group. However, a state-by-state medication abortion breakdown was not available.

Pro-life assistant professor Dr. Michael J. New of the Catholic University of America notes, “I would encourage pro-lifers to consider these new data with some degree of skepticism. The data comes from the Guttmacher Institute’s Monthly Abortion Provision Survey. This is different from Guttmacher’s Abortion Provider Census, which is conducted every three years. By Guttmacher’s own admission, the calculations for the Monthly Abortion Provision Survey come from ‘a slimmer portfolio of data’ and are designed to produce faster calculations on the incidence of abortion. Given that, the 2023 abortion estimates may not be as reliable as Guttmacher’s previous annual abortion estimates.”

“Even though these new data indicate that the incidence of abortion has increased since the Dobbs decision, there is still very strong statistical evidence that newly enacted pro-life laws are preventing abortions and [saving] lives. Three separate analyses of Texas birth data have found that the Texas Heartbeat Act saved over 1,000 lives a month. Also, a study published by the Institute for Labor Economics saw increased birth rates in many states that enforced strong pro-life laws shortly after the Dobbs decision. Enacting strong legal protections for preborn children is still a worthwhile policy goal for pro-lifers,” continues New.
