Pueblos’ redistricting map would oust only Native American NM congresswoman

19 Native American pueblos and the Jicarilla Apache Nation have submitted congressional redistricting plans to the Citizens Redistricting Committee, which ironically would likely oust current Republican Congresswoman Yvette Herrell — a Native American member of the Cherokee Nation.

“This effort reflects not only an understanding of the importance of tribal involvement in the redistricting process, but more importantly, the need to protect our cherished right to vote,” claimed Wilfred Herrera Jr., governor of Laguna Pueblo and chairman of the All Pueblo Council of Governors.

As reported by the Albuquerque Journal:

The proposed congressional map would dramatically reshape the 1st Congressional District, currently in Albuquerque and the East Mountains.

Southwestern Albuquerque and the South Valley would become part of the southern New Mexico-based 2nd Congressional District.

The 1st Congressional District, meanwhile, would cover parts of Rio Rancho and Albuquerque, and swing down to pick up Soccoro.

The plan would also make the Third Congressional District span all the way from San Juan County down to Chaves County. Native Americans would make up 17% of the voting-age population in the District.

The proposal putting the South Valley of Albuquerque into the Second District would break up the constituency and swing the Second District to become Democrat-controlled, pushing Native American Rep. Herrell out of power. Similar proposals by far-left fringe groups eerily mirror those of the Native American pueblos, which would, in bad faith, sway all New Mexico’s districts to be Democrat-controlled.

The tribal nations claim they “worked hard to maintain tribal voting power, develop new voting districts with Native American influence, and to bring New Mexico closer to parity after a century of voter disenfranchisement and suppression.”

Trump-hating socialist who thinks America is a racist country running in CD-2

On Wednesday, Gabe Vasquez, a far-left city councilor in Las Cruces, announced he is running for Congress in New Mexico’s Second Congressional District to challenge incumbent Republican Congresswoman Yvette Herrell.

Vasquez is a known socialist who is diametrically opposed to most values held by the district — values that ex-Rep. Xochitl Torres Small — tried to use to sway moderates. He is a far-left rabid partisan with some of the most extreme far-left views available.

Vasquez believes President Donald Trump’s southern border wall is an “insult” and he believes in the naturalization of criminal aliens into New Mexico.

Vasquez claimed that because President Trump was not convicted during the Democrats’ second impeachment inquisition in February, that the country is “deeply rooted” in “white supremacy.” With words like this, it is hard to see how any voters of President Trump would ever consider a vote for Vasquez, as some may have voted for Torres Small.

Vasquez even went so far as to claim Trump, his supporters, and his “enablers” were terrorists toward immigrants.

In June, during the George Floyd protests, Vasquez once again claimed the United States is systemically racist and the “systems” (referring to police) are “built on oppression. He wrote, “Black lives matter. Until we deconstruct and rebuild the systems of oppression that keep black people in perpetual harm, justice will not be served. That includes law enforcement, the economy, and the disgusting wealth inequality that keeps white rich men in power.”

In an unhinged op-ed, Vasquez even claimed his opponent, Congresswoman Yvette Herrell, should be “expelled.”

Vasquez’s extreme rhetoric appears not only out of step with the norms of the District but of New Mexico. Herrell’s leadership on multiple issues — despite being in the minority — shows her willingness to compromise, such as sending letters to Kamala Harris and Joe Biden. Vasquez on the other hand appears to be a rabid partisan with not much to offer other than constant hatred for President Trump and Congresswoman Herrell.

Congresswoman Yvette Herrell shreds Biden over ‘international embarrassment’ in Afghanistan

On Monday, Republican Congresswoman Yvette Herrell of New Mexico’s Second District did not mince words in her reply to Joe Biden’s realized failure in Afghanistan, which is now nearly entirely ravaged by the Taliban.

Herrell said, “After 20 years, it was long past time to leave Afghanistan. But it did not have to be this disaster.”

She added, “The Biden admin. presides over a complete tactical failure and international embarrassment, as well as a tragedy for families who will suffer under a new Taliban regime.”

Biden was nowhere to be found amid the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, with the White House frantically releasing a photograph of what some are calling a “feeble” and “impotent” Biden staring at a screen while sitting alone at a conference table at Camp David.

45th President Trump, an ally of Congresswoman Herrell, brokered historic peace deals in the Middle East, including a plan to exit Afghanistan safely. But once the Joe Biden regime came to power, all bets were off, and the emboldened Radical Islamic Terrorist group the Taliban took America’s perceived weakness for everything it has got.

Afghani President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai fled the country hours before the Taliban took Kabul and descended upon the presidential palace in the country’s capital. Taliban members can be seen sitting at the presidential desk while reading the Quran and holding American weapons.

Even far-left propaganda network CNN blamed Biden for his failure in Afghanistan, with Jake Tapper saying, “It seems shocking that … Biden could’ve been so wrong.”

President Trump has called for Biden to“resign in disgrace” over Biden’s Afghanistan catastrophe. No other members, including Reps. Teresa Leger de Fernandez and Melanie Stansbury or Sens. Martin Heinrich and Ben Ray Luján of the New Mexican delegation have commented on Biden’s Afghanistan failure.

Hundreds attend Alamogordo forum about school mask choice

On Sunday afternoon, hundreds filled the Flickinger Center for Performing Arts in downtown Alamogordo for a forum put on by the Republican Party of Otero County regarding school mask choice.

Speaking at the event was Congresswoman Yvette Herrell (R-CD2), who told the crowd, “I trust the people of America and the people of New Mexico more than I trust our government!”

“What happens now when we start complying with everything that the government says?” “Look, our democracy is under attack. This republic will not look the same if we don’t stand up against the government on every single level and do what’s right!”

Herrell concluded, “So don’t be disingenuous to our families who are quite capable of making decisions for their families. Don’t be disingenuous to me, to my friends that are business owners, to my friends that live here. Don’t be disingenuous to Americans because we are stronger than that, and right now our resolve is being tested and our faith in God. This is not a surprise to God. And let me tell you: in government, you’ve got show ponies, and you’ve got workhorses. Well, I am proud to stand with all of you workhorses!”

Panelists included Republican New Mexico House Leader Jim Townsend (R-Artesia), state Sen. David Gallegos (R-Eunice), attorney Robert Aragon, Dr. Roger Black, and Sarah Smith, a leader of the New Mexico Freedoms Alliance.

Leader Townsend said, “The school board’s responsibility is to set a platform so each and every one of those children can flourish and to their God-given abilities.”

Sen. Gallegos added, “If we don’t do what we need to right now, we will never recover this state.” Regarding the New Mexico Public Education Department stripping away power from the Floyd School Board, Gallegos said, “They are looking at power. Every time they take power away, they take it away from you.”

Aragon, who is legally representing the suspended Floyd School Board, said, “What this governor is doing is absolutely beyond the pale. There is no statutory authority that allows her to do this, end of discussion.”

In a presentation titled Dr. Black spoke about the guidance of CDC, NIH, FDA, and about masks, telling the audience, “I have to be machined to see whether my N-95 (mask) works every day. And you think you’re going to stop a virus with a piece of cloth? It ain’t going to happen because I can’t even stop it with my N95 that’s been tested.” He also provided out information on the science behind mask-wearing.

“There’s science right here above me that says ‘I don’t need you to make up my children’s health care [decisions],” Dr. Black continued.

Sarah Smith added to the discussion about adverse effects of the inoculation from the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), talking about only 10% being reported to the VAERS system. She spoke about 13-year-olds who died after getting the inoculation, “A boy from Minnesota who has no pre-existing conditions died of heart failure about two weeks after the shot.” She cited other cases.

“New Mexico kids are counting on this. We have to fix this now, and we can do it together,” she concluded.

Otero County Commissioner Couy Griffin spoke to the attendees during the question and answer session, and many parents and school board members from across New Mexico asked the panelists how they could help.

Rep. Yvette Herrell speaks at CPAC in Dallas: ‘We deserve to be energy independent’

On Sunday, Republican Congresswoman Yvette Herrell of New Mexico’s Second District joined Congressmen Michael Burgess and Lance Gooden of Texas for a segment during CPAC 2021 in Dallas about energy moderated by Tammie Bruce of Fox News.

“I really think what’s very ironic about this is the topic here is energy security. And it’s a sad day that we’re having to fight against our own administration to secure our energy independence because they’re more than willing to give our independence away to China and Russia and other adversaries,” Herrell said. “We deserve to be energy independent, just like we were under the Trump administration.”

“And even more so to think that they are locking us away from our public lands. So, in New Mexico, fifty percent of our oil production comes from public lands, sixty percent of our natural gas. And now, we are so running down the path of stupidity that we are going to cut off our producers from being able to drill on public lands.”

“We’ve got to protect our America from our government,” Herrell said. “And we’ve got to be able to have the ability to understand that if we go in our homes and our offices when we flip on the switch, it’s going to turn on the lights. Or we can go to the gas pumps and afford the fuel there…. We’ve got to stand up to our government so that we can protect our energy and our natural resources.”

What we have to remember: It is not just about starting the car. I mean, let’s just be honest. Right now, if we got rid of everything in this room that was touched by a petroleum product, it would look very, very different,” Herrell continued. “The truth is, we don’t talk about the things that are in our daily lives that we take advantage of…. Plastics, medical supplies, eyeglasses, asphalt, makeup, lipstick, clothing, [sporting goods], there are so many things.”

“I would just implore that you start talking about the day-to-day items that [we] really take advantage of, that are touched by the petroleum products. In fact, if you’ve gotten the vaccine or if you’re thinking about getting the vaccine, thank the oil and gas industry because almost every one of those syringes was touched by the petroleum products out of the ground — the fossil fuels.”

Herrell ended her remarks by saying, “We are living in the greatest country on the Earth, and thank you to our veterans, to our Military who fought for our freedoms. ANd we will stand and fight for our energy independence and all our other freedoms because we as Americans deserve them and we owe all the gratitude to our veterans and our service members, so thank you.”

Herrell’s speech came before 45th President Donald Trump addressed the conference, where he spoke about his America First agenda and taking back America for the people.

Rep. Yvette Herrell: ‘It’s about time’ Kamala Harris visited the border

On Wednesday, it was reported that Kamala Harris plans to finally visit the southern border between the United States and Mexico after dodging a trip for months. A border crisis has begun on the border after migrants saw Joe Biden’s weak immigration laws as an opportunity to skirt U.S. law and come to America illegally.

According to the Daily Caller, “Border patrol apprehended 180,000 migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border in May, following 178,000 in April and 173,000 in March. Meanwhile, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deported the fewest number of illegal immigrants in the agency’s history.”

Border-district Congresswoman Yvette Herrell (R-NM-2), who has tried on multiple occasions to have Harris and a bipartisan delegation visit the border to assess the crisis, took to Twitter on Wednesday, writing, “It’s about time [Kamala Harris] visited the border. To understand the situation, she needs to bring a bipartisan delegation and listen to the ranchers, farmers, and residents who see the #BorderCrisis every day.”

She said in a statement published later Wednesday:

It’s about time Kamala Harris visited the border. This should have happened three months ago when President Biden named her as his Border Czar.

More importantly though, her visit to the border needs to be more than just checking a box. To truly understand the crisis, she needs to hear from the ranchers, farmers, and residents who live with the effects of this administration’s open borders policy every day. I am more than willing to introduce her to my constituents so she can actually understand why this administration’s policies are not working.

On Tuesday, Herrell sent a letter to Harris telling her, “While I was disappointed you chose not to respond to me, I want to reiterate my offer for you to visit the border with me and hear directly from hardworking New Mexicans about how your border policies are harming them and threatening their families and livelihoods.”

She added, “May I also suggest that you visit the border with… President Donald J. Trump and Governor Greg Abbott during their planned trip in late June. President Trump can provide you an in-depth briefing on the programs that led to the most secure border in decades.”

“Such a discussion with President Trump is even more pressing given the unprecedented crisis that your administration’s policies have created at our southern border,” Herrell concluded in her Tuesday letter.

Now, Harris will visit the border, but it is unclear if she will welcome Republicans like Herrell, who represent border districts, on the trip.

New Mexicans honor fallen heroes on Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a time for reflection and thankfulness for those men and women who served our country and died in battle protecting American freedoms. New Mexicans from across the state are holding ceremonies statewide to honor these fallen heroes and paying their respects to them for their sacrifice.

Here are some New Mexicans’ messages of thanks to those who served:

Congresswoman Yvette Herrell, New Mexico’s Second District:

Today we remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our freedom.

“Greater love has no one than this,” Scripture tells us, than “to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Today we honor the men and women of America’s armed forces who gave their lives for their friends, for their families, and for a grateful nation.

Congresswoman Herrell honored Gold Star families over the weekend at a memorial dedicatinon ceremony in the Second District.

Sandoval County Commissioner Jay Block, Gubernatorial Candidate and Retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel:

This Memorial Day, I ask you to take some time to #rememberthefallen and the sacrifices they and their families made to keep our Nation free and strong. We will always honor them and never forget them. This picture was taken Memorial Day 2014 in France. The name on the Cross is my great Uncle, Euclid Bourke who was KIA in Jan 1945. I think I am the only family member to visit him and I told him that day I will be back.

Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce:

“Today we all honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice fighting for our freedoms. We must never forget the brave men and women of our armed forces who served and gave their lives for our great nation throughout its history. These fallen heroes have allowed us all to live in a country that’s safe and free. Today we pay special tribute to these patriots who served to defend our way of life,  and we should always be inspired by their courage and dedication to protect the ideals of freedom, justice and equality.”

State Sen. Mark Moores, Republican Nominee for Congress in the First District:

“On this special day of remembrance, my wife Lisa and I want to pay tribute to the brave men and women of our armed forces who fought and died in defense of our great nation. We honor their memory and their service. These heroes were our greatest public servants, and they made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of democracy.  This is a day to reflect, remember and honor those fallen heroes who help protect our nation, defend our freedoms and ensure our American way of life.”

From all of us at the Piñon Post, we give the greatest honor and respect to our fallen heroes this Memorial Day and wish the most profound thanks to all who continue to honorably serve our great nation to protect our God-given freedoms.

NOTE: The Memorial Day sentiments listed above by public officials and organizations are by no means a complete list. Please check back for possible additions.

Rep. Herrell invites Kamala Harris to tour southern border, join Central American trip

On Monday, Republican Congresswoman for New Mexico’s Second District Yvette Herrell sent a letter to Kamala Harris inviting her to visit the southern border in New Mexico to see first-hand the humanitarian crisis happening on the border with Mexico. In the letter, she said if Harris does not plan to see the border herself, she should bring a bipartisan delegation of border-area lawmakers with her as she seeks to reach a solution with foreign leaders.

“I believe it is imperative that your discussions with the governments of Mexico and Central American countries include members of Congress, especially those members from border communities and those on both sides of the aisle,” Herrell wrote in her letter obtained by the Washington Examiner. “This crisis can only be solved with bipartisan input and perspective from those who represent areas along the southern border.”

“I would be pleased to host you in New Mexico’s Second District as well as join you on your trip to Mexico and Guatemala to bring firsthand knowledge of what the border crisis means for those who live there and are affected daily,” the congresswoman wrote.

She posted a video of her signing the letter, saying, “…we do have a crisis at the border, and that’s why I’m inviting you to come to New Mexico so you can see it for yourself firsthand.”

Rep. Herrell’s campaign delivers drinking water to firefighters battling Three Rivers Fire

On Tuesday, Congresswoman Yvette Herrell of the Second District wrote on Twitter that her campaign team is working to aid the firefighters who are working on controlling the Three Rivers Fire by delivering them drinking water.

In the post, Herrell wrote, “Team Yvette is headed up to the #ThreeRiversFire with drinking water for our firefighters. Pray for more rain!”

According to the most recent updates on the fire from the National Fores Service, 6,100 acres have been enveloped in flames with 0% of the fire contained.

The fire is “being driven by steep terrain and extreme fire weather conditions, including gusty winds and low humidity levels around 8 percent,” says the National Forest Service. The fire has spread almost to Ski Apache and into the South Fork area.

Following news of the blaze, public officials representing the area made it clear they are working with fire officials to [aid] in any way necessary. Republican Congresswoman Yvette Herrell wrote, “My staff and I are closely monitoring the Three Rivers Fire and staying in regular contact with the USDA, USFS, state, and local officials. Our prayers are with those fighting the fire as well as those in its path. Stay safe, heed the warnings and orders from authorities, and be prepared to relocate quickly if necessary. Please also beware of unconfirmed information about the situation, and follow official sources like U.S. Forest Service – Lincoln National Forest, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, and nmfireinfo.com for the latest reliable and factual updates.”

More information will be added once the National Forest Service has given an update on the Three Rivers Fire of 2021.

Congresswoman Herrell promotes energy independence with the ‘POWER’ Act

On Tuesday, Republican U.S. House Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) released a video featuring Congresswoman Yvette Herrell of New Mexico’s Second District where she spoke about the bill she is sponsoring, the Protecting our Wealth of Energy Resources (POWER) Act of 2021, which aims to put America back on the road to energy independence.

The bill comes after Joe Biden’s administration killed at least 12,000 jobs with his disassembly of the Keystone XL Pipeline and a ban on oil drilling leases on federal land, among other extreme proposals.

“More than half the oil and more than two-thirds of the natural gas produced in New Mexico is on federal lands,” said Herrell. “A moratorium on new leases will devastate our state’s economy, destroying more than 60,000 jobs by 2022, and decimate our state’s budget,” she said.

In the video, Herrell said, “We know what it’s like to have energy independence in our country, and we’ve got to keep it going that way. In fact, we’re seeing production levels higher than ever, but our emissions lower.”

She added, “When we work together with science, technology, and our industry partners, we can produce better energy–more affordable energy–for all of America.”

“We can protect our federal lands, we can protect drilling on federal lands, and we can ensure that our American households have good clean affordable energy,” she concluded.

WATCH her message below and read more about her bill here.

Herrell’s message comes after the Piñon Post reported on State Land Commissioner Stephanie Garcia Richard appeared to support Joe Biden’s anti-energy ban on federal land drilling, in response to a letter from Herrell requesting support for New Mexico’s energy independence.
