Open Carry is explicitly guaranteed in the NM state constitution:
STATE CONSTITUTIONAL PROVISION – Article II, Section 6.
“No law shall abridge the right of the citizen to keep and bear arms for security and defense, for lawful hunting and recreational use and for other lawful purposes, but nothing herein shall be held to permit the carrying of concealed weapons. As the “governor” of NM, you have ALLOWED illegal border crossings that bring drugs, drug cartels and illegals that we know nothing about as far as their criminal intent towards NM citizens. What makes you think now after all this time in office, that this EO will change the things that YOU have brought down on our State?
You have failed to prevent attacks on New Mexicans and blame law abiding citizens for gun violence. Apparently, you don’t understand that a gun is an inert object until placed into the hands of someone who wants to do harm – for example, an illegal, drug cartel member or gang member.
Your “decision” to enact this ILLEGAL executive order violates NM and US Constitutional rights of New Mexicans and US citizens and because of this, I will do everything in my power to fight this attempt to usurp the rights that the US Constitution has GUARANTEED all American Citizens.

The U.S. Constitution clearly states that “Any law or order that infringes upon the rights listed in this document, are NULL and VOID.” Her order is NOT valid nor enforceable. If we had an attorney general and a legislature who cared about the the rule of law, this would not be happening. The people of New Mexico and the USA must stand up to this tyranny, and stop allowing these rogue politicians to do whatever they want. The 2d Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America provides for a “well-regulated militia”. Freedom for anyone at any time anywhere to carry a loaded gun, whether in open or concealed, has nothing to do with a “well-regulated militia”. MLG is well aware that the New Mexico State Fair started Friday, while motorcycle rallies have been canceled in Ruidoso due to gun violence at a similar event in Red River. What the governor has done is this: She has taken away our rights to protect ourselves. Shootings are going to happen, regardless of whether we are allowed to carry or not, because if a person wants to go shoot someone, they will find a way to get a gun and go do just that. Even if guns were banned, people who want to shoot someone would still find a way to do it. Because that’s what criminals do. If we are not allowed to carry, then it minimizes our chances of being able to protect ourselves and our families, and increases the chance of more death from shootings because no one will be able to stop the individual doing the shooting.
