NM Dems now want ‘bipartisanship,’ unity after incessant hate

Following President-elect Donald Trump’s incredible and historic victory in the election to become the 47th president of the United States, winning both the electoral and popular vote, New Mexico Democrats are taking a drastic turn from their partisanship.

After the Democrats’ decisive defeat, New Mexico Democrat politicians are trying to urge Republicans to now come to the table after leftists have gone on years-long tirades, legal battles, witch hunts, and attacks against Republicans, specifically supporters of President-elect Trump.

Sen. Martin Heinrich, who is now in the minority in the U.S. Senate, tried to have his cake and eat it, too, saying he wants Republicans to work with him to find “common ground,” while also bashing Trump, claiming he has an “extreme and divisive agenda.”

Far-left Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham released her own word salad statement, imploring unity with Republicans, who she has demeaned for six years as governor.

“With the election in the rear-view mirror, I encourage all New Mexicans––regardless of political affiliation––to come together and work in a bipartisan way to build on our successes and continue solving our shared challenges,” she wrote.

After the governor’s statement, state Rep. John Block (R-Alamogordo) wrote, “No. Expect the greatest possible amount of resistance every single step of the way these next two years. You have treated us like garbage for six long years, called us lizard people, bashed our sheriffs, snatched our rights, raised our taxes, killed our jobs, locked down our families, abused taxpayer dollars, settled sex assault claims, and bashed anyone who disagrees with you — even members of your own party — with hate and vitriol. Expect your agenda to stall and die on the vine because it’s time for ALL Republicans (and hopefully some Democrats) to unite to crush your extremist agenda, which has poisoned our once-great state. But we will heal our land. #MAGA”

In a different post, state Rep. Stefani Lord (R-Sandia Park) wrote, “New Mexican Democrat politicians need to pause for just a moment and reflect on the high number of people who voted for Trump here in our state. It was not a Kamala landslide by any means. Nearly half the people didn’t vote for her. That means that a large number of New Mexicans voted not only for Trump but also against everything Kamala stood for,” adding, “Americans are not on board with the radical progressive agenda that is consistently being pushed and marginalizes the moderate democrats, especially in New Mexico. I seriously hope you remember this when drafting bills for this next session.”

Far-left Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller wrote following Harris’ defeat a similar message to that of Heinrich and Lujan Grisham, writing, “As Mayor, I will always stand up for and serve every resident of our city. While many are anxious about what a second Trump presidency will mean, in [Albuquerque] we will continue to work together, respect one another, and fight for a better future for our families.”

Other leftist politicians, such as New Mexico House Speaker Javier Martinez and New Mexico House Majority Whip Reena Szczepanski, defended Harris’ campaign and attempted to run cover for the lame-duck former Democrat nominee, while others, such as Rep. Melanie Stansbury attempted to inflame voters with the same tropes that led to their presidential election defeat, claiming Trump and his supporters are a “threat to democracy” and women’s rights.

As Roswell suffers deadly flooding, MLG out-of-state campaigning for Harris

Severe flooding in Roswell has left at least two people dead and led to the rescue of hundreds of stranded residents, according to the New Mexico State Police. The flooding, triggered by extreme overnight rainfall, swept away vehicles and left many motorists stranded across the region. Rescue operations are ongoing, with 290 people rescued so far, 38 of whom were transported to hospitals for treatment.

The New Mexico National Guard, alongside other emergency agencies, has been instrumental in the rescue efforts. “Crews are still out there and rescue efforts are still underway,” said Officer Amanda Richards of the State Police. The National Guard reported conducting at least one swiftwater rope rescue, a technique honed during previous flooding events in Ruidoso.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood emergency for Roswell and neighboring areas as heavy rainfall rates reached between 1.5 and 2 inches per hour. The severe storm threat remains for parts of eastern New Mexico, with more rain, hail, and wind expected through Monday. Roswell saw 5.78 inches of rainfall on Saturday, breaking a record that had stood since 1901.

Floodwaters from the Spring River reached dangerous levels, submerging streets and homes in the Cahoon area. Vehicles were swept into the river, and some residents had to be rescued from the tops of their submerged cars. In a statement, the City of Roswell confirmed one fatality due to the flooding and urged residents to stay indoors: “Many motorists became stranded when their vehicles got stuck in flood waters on many streets.”

Local authorities have closed roadways into Roswell, and the Roswell Air Center remains shut down, with all flights canceled until further notice. City facilities, including the library and zoo, are also closed as officials continue assessing damage and recovery efforts. Shelters are available for those displaced by the flooding, while officials warn against venturing out onto the roads until conditions improve.

However, amid Roswell’s destruction, far-left Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham was out-of-state busy campaigning alongside other far-left Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-Michigan) for Kamala Harris in Pittsburg.

She bragged on October 20th via X, with pictures of the two governors and Lujan Grisham in a Pepto Bismol-colored pant suit, “With @GovWhitmer helping to protect the Blue Wall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania today. The race is tight here but we know all these fired-up Democrats will give Kamala Harris a Keystone State victory on Election Day!”

She quickly deleted the post, but not before X users screenshotted it.

One posted, “This should be shared widely. While Roswell suffers, the governor is campaigning out of state. On your dime.”

Lujan Grisham has been well-known for her jet-setting lifestyle, flying across the world on the New Mexico taxpayers’ dime, including lavish trips to Dubai, Spain, the Netherlands, and trips across the country.

MLG starts new anti-litter campaign featuring ‘Breaking Bad’ meth cook

Far-left Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has launched a new anti-littering campaign with a familiar face from the hit TV series Breaking Bad: Walter White, the fictional meth cook portrayed by Bryan Cranston.

The statewide campaign, dubbed “Breaking Bad Habits,” features White in new ads encouraging New Mexicans to keep the state clean, with a humorous yet edgy twist. “Keep litter out of my territory,” White warns, referencing the iconic character’s infamous behavior from the series.

The campaign includes TV commercials, billboards, bus ads, and merchandise featuring White’s alias, Heisenberg, wearing his signature hat and sunglasses.

Cranston was enthusiastic about the campaign’s tone, writing in a statement, “Most public service campaigns work using common sense and empathy… that’s not what we did here! Walter White represents a certain threat in the message … but all in good fun.” Cranston, known for his love of New Mexico, volunteered to reprise the role for the ads.

The campaign, which has a $3 million budget, is part of Lujan Grisham’s larger effort to combat littering across New Mexico. The governor is determined to “beautify the Land of Enchantment” during the waning years of her second term following a tumultuous tenure, which has resulted in the implementation of the most radical far-leftist policies the state has ever seen.

“New Mexico is beautiful, and on our watch, we’re going to make sure that it stays that way,” she said at a screening event in Santa Fe. Several elected officials, including far-left Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller, attended and praised the initiative.

However, Lujan Grisham acknowledged the complexity of using a fictional drug kingpin to promote a positive message. “Having a character that may not be your best self can sometimes remind you that your best self is right around the corner,” she remarked. Despite concerns, she’s confident the campaign’s humor and creativity will resonate with residents, much like Texas’ successful “Don’t Mess with Texas” campaign, which reduced litter by 70% in five years.

But “Breaking Bad Habits” doesn’t exactly have the same ring to it as Texas’ slogan.

Lujan Grisham rescinds radical anti-gun order as November election nears

Far-left, anti-gun Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced on Wednesday that she is allowing the expiration of her emergency public health order, which temporarily suspended the right to carry guns in public parks and playgrounds within the Albuquerque metro area, an attack on Second Amendment rights.

The initial order, issued in September 2023, created a firestorm across the state, leading to public protests, legal challenges, and impeachment articles introduced. Lujan Grisham’s action, which aimed to curb gun violence following several tragic shootings that claimed the lives of children, ignited a broader debate over the limits of executive power and gun rights.

“I have decided to allow the public health order to expire, but our fight to protect New Mexico communities from the dangers posed by guns and illegal drugs will continue,” the governor stated.

Her initial order attempted to suspend the right to carry firearms in most public spaces around Albuquerque. However, the sweeping gun restrictions faced intense backlash from both gun rights advocates and political figures across the spectrum. The order was later scaled back to apply only to parks and playgrounds, with an exception for a municipal shooting range. Despite these adjustments, critics continued to argue that the order infringed on the Second Amendment rights of Albuquerque residents, who depend on public carry for self-defense.

A major turning point came when a federal court judge, appointed by Joe Biden, struck down key parts of Lujan Grisham’s order, ruling it unconstitutional. The judge cited the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2022 ruling, which expanded gun rights and set a new precedent that limited states’ abilities to impose restrictions on public carry. This court decision delivered a significant blow to the governor’s efforts and fueled further criticism from her opponents.

Amidst the legal battles, State Reps. Stefani Lord (R-Sandia Park) and John Block (R-Alamogordo) introduced articles of impeachment, arguing that her executive order was an unconstitutional overreach of power. They claimed that the governor’s actions violated the fundamental rights of citizens and set a dangerous precedent for executive authority. These calls for impeachment have grown louder, as critics argue that her attempts to curtail gun rights reflect broader concerns about the use of emergency orders to bypass legislative processes.

Despite the order’s expiration, Lujan Grisham has vowed to continue fighting “gun violence” through other means, insisting that “our fight to protect New Mexico communities from the dangers posed by guns and illegal drugs will continue.”

The deadly cost of open borders: Illegal alien deaths spike in MLG’s NM

The number of illegal immigrant deaths near the U.S.-Mexico border in New Mexico has dramatically risen over the last two years, with fatalities now ten times higher than they were just five years ago, per a report from the Associated Press. Smugglers are increasingly steering illegal immigrants—many of whom are exhausted, dehydrated, and malnourished—into more perilous paths, including the hot desert, canyons, and mountains west of El Paso, Texas. This shift has led to tragic consequences, as extreme heat and treacherous terrain take a devastating toll.

In the first eight months of 2024 alone, 108 presumed illegal immigrants, mostly from Mexico and Central America, were found dead near the border in New Mexico. This marks a stark increase compared to just nine deaths in 2020 and ten in 2019. In 2023, the number of fatalities reached 113. Experts point to the smugglers’ more dangerous routes and harsher treatment of illegal immigrants, particularly in extreme summer temperatures. The dramatic increase in New Mexico comes as the state is the only one whose governor is not acting to curb the flow of illegal aliens.

The influx of deaths has placed a significant burden on the University of New Mexico’s Office of the Medical Investigator, which has seen an increase in heat-related fatalities. Heather Edgar, a forensic anthropologist with the office, expressed shock over the surge in deaths, saying, “Our reaction was sadness, horror, and surprise because it had been very consistently low for as long as anyone can remember.”

To cope with the rise in deaths, the office has added more deputy medical investigators, increasing their team from three to nine or ten in the affected region. Edgar attributed this to the eastern migration corridor in New Mexico, where many bodies are being recovered.

Humanitarian advocates are alarmed by this trend, as many illegal immigrants are dying within just a few miles of urban areas or even close to roads. Adam Isacson, an analyst with the Washington Office on Latin America, emphasized that “people are dying close to urban areas, in some cases just 1,000 feet from roads,” and suggested that more water stations, improved telecommunications, and rescue efforts could help mitigate the crisis.

The U.S. government has taken steps to address the situation. Border Patrol has expanded its search and rescue efforts, adding medical specialists and surveillance technology to patrols. Additionally, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has installed more emergency beacons, push-button devices that can summon medical help along remote areas of the border.

Despite these efforts, the death toll continues to rise. Many of the illegal immigrants are forced to endure treacherous journeys, often walking for days or weeks without adequate food or water before crossing the border. Deputy Chief Border Patrol Agent Juan Bernal of the El Paso Sector explained that smugglers often leave these individuals to fend for themselves in dangerous conditions. “They’re expected to walk, sometimes for hours or days, to get to their destination where they’re going to be picked up,” he said.

Serious stories from families who have lost loved ones add a personal dimension to this tragedy. In one case, a family in Chiapas, Mexico, pleaded for the return of a 25-year-old relative in a missing person post, only to learn days later that she had been found dead. Another story involved a 24-year-old Guatemalan woman whose remains were discovered in June, her death marked by a photograph of her smiling in a blue dress, holding a bouquet of flowers.

The crisis continues as Joe Biden’s border czar, Kamala Harris, is seeking the presidency after Biden was forced off the ballot following pressure from his party. New Mexico’s Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, who has perpetuated open borders,  is a campaign surrogate for Harris.

Lujan Grisham, NM Dems stump for Harris by touting abortion up-to-birth

To campaign for Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris, New Mexico Democrats joined at a so-called “Reproductive Health” bus tour to tout how Harris would push radical abortion up-to-birth policies nationwide, like those in New Mexico, where killing a child in the womb is legal up to the date of its birth.

The event was joined by far-left Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, New Mexico’s far-left congressional delegation members, members of the New Mexico Legislature, including Speaker Javier Martinez, among others.

The Democrat Party of New Mexico (DPNM) on social media wrote, “NM Democrats at every level have proven to be reliable allies for abortion rights,” saying Harris is as radical pro-abortion as they are.

They also continued to peddle lies that the so-called “Project 2025” is affiliated with 45th President Donald Trump although even the group’s founders have debunked this fake claim.

Trump & Republicans are responsible for taking away fundamental reproductive rights & lifesaving care from millions, & NM Republicans  would follow Trump’s Project 2025 agenda that would further eliminate our bodily autonomy & freedoms,” erroneously claimed DPNM.

Lujan Grisham showed up at the bus tour in a Pepto Bismol-colored pant suit, a shirt that read “Hotties for Harris,” and Converse sneakers, writing on social media, “I’ve got my pink chucks on for the Fight for Reproductive Freedoms bus tour. We’re fired up to elect [Kamala Harris] and defend our rights. Now here’s what I need you to do. From now till November, roll those sleeves up, get to work, and let’s win in November.”

A similar message was posted by Rep. Melanie Stansbury, claiming “rights” will be taken away if Republicans take charge.

Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez posted that if babies aren’t to be killed up to the day of their birth, it would be “going back.”

Despite the states having control over abortion laws, Democrats continue to push the abortion message, in the attempt to win the election. Trump is currently leading in all but a couple of the most hotly contested battleground states, according to recent polls. Early voting began on Tuesday in New Mexico.

As MLG travels to Mexico, her strange outfit is all people can focus on

Far-left New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham traveled on a taxpayer-funded excursion to Mexico with many Cabinet officials to meet about “climate change” policies and attend the inauguration of Mexico’s new president in one of the bloodiest elections to date in the country, with at least 34 of political candidates being murdered.

Lujan Grisham posted on X, formerly Twitter, “Many thanks to the experts who joined us in Mexico City for today’s Clean Energy and Energy Security Collaboration Roundtable discussion.”

“Together, we’re working toward innovative solutions and partnerships for a #sustainable #clean #energy future,” she added, with a picture attached showing her with others in attendance.

But more than the eco-left policies the post promoted, her outfit is what caught the attention of many, showing her in a loud gold and multi-colored jacket and short skirt, while donning chunky jewelry and white/nude colored strapped boots.

X users took to the platform to comment on the governor’s flamboyant ensemble.

“Whoever picked that outfit hates you with a stone-cold passion. I’m 💯 opposed to everything you stand for, but even still, I wouldn’t send you out in public looking like that kind of fool. It’s savage. Meanwhile, NM doesn’t have a real governor, & it shows. Impeach Grisham now,” wrote Auntie Barnes.

Another wrote, “Sweet baby Jesus, woman, who dresses you? That outfit is so tackyAlso did taxpayers fund this trip too?”

Sassy Vet wrote, “So that’s what a cartel prostitute looks like?”

“Are you ever in Santa Fe working on the problems of the state…..ever?” wrote another.

One X user opined, “Did you lose a bet?”

JPNorth concluded that “those faux boots are a fashion travesty.  Like your phony green agenda, a bad idea that fails in both function and form. A concept with no real purpose.”

Lujan Grisham flees state again — this time for Mexico

New Mexico’s far-left Democrat governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham, will be traveling to Mexico City to attend the historic inauguration of Claudia Sheinbaum, who will become Mexico’s first female president.

Announcing the trip on Friday, the governor expressed enthusiasm for participating in the event, symbolizing a significant milestone for Mexico’s political landscape.

Lujan Grisham, a second-term Democratic governor and former U.S. congresswoman, will attend the ceremony and lead a delegation to engage in a roundtable discussion centered on “clean energy” and “energy security.”

The event will include many of her political appointees, such as her chief of staff, Daniel Schlegel, and top cabinet secretaries responsible for New Mexico’s natural resources and economic development. The group will also attend a reception hosted by U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar.

New Mexico has the highest proportion of Hispanic residents in the United States and has deep-rooted historical ties to Mexican and Spanish governance.

New Mexico taxpayers fund the trip, and the governor’s delegation aims to strengthen cross-border partnerships, especially in sectors like energy, which have become increasingly pivotal for both countries.

Meanwhile, Tucson Mayor Regina Romero will also be present at the inauguration, representing Arizona as part of Joe Biden’s official delegation.

MLG trying to build eco-left workforce amid her job-killing Green New Deal

A push for eco-left energy sources and misguided infrastructure investments by state and federal governments have driven up construction costs and placed unnecessary strain on the workforce, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham claimed in an executive order on Monday.

These rising costs, compounded by a push for “climate-ready” construction, forced through by the signing of her Green New Deal (2019’s Energy Transition Act), are being used as justification for reshaping the workforce to cater to this eco-left agenda, which prioritizes building up the so-called renewable energy sector and infrastructure aimed at supposedly mitigating the effects of “climate change,” according to the governor.

In the order, Lujan Grisham directed nearly a dozen state agencies to collaborate on a plan for workforce development and training, including education programs targeting K-12 students to groom them for careers in eco-left-driven industries.

By 2026, Lujan Grisham pledged the state would have 2,000 additional workers trained in these “climate-ready” professions despite no clear definition of what these jobs entail.

Sarita Nair, Cabinet Secretary for the Department of Workforce Solutions, echoed the governor’s rhetoric in an email, stating that the state’s infrastructure must be updated to endure so-called “extreme” weather conditions, including heat, drought, and flooding.

At the end of 2022, the state claimed to have 12,686 jobs in the “clean energy” sector. Companies like Maxeon and the communist Chinese Ebon Solar have made high-profile announcements to expand operations in New Mexico, but questions remain about the long-term viability of these ventures and their impact on local communities.

Interestingly, Nair admitted in the same email that there’s no official definition from the Bureau of Labor Statistics for these “climate-ready jobs.” Speculation suggests they could range from wildland firefighters to electric vehicle charging station installers, leaving significant ambiguity about the true scope of this eco-left workforce.

Ladona Clayton, executive director of the Ogallala Land and Water Conservancy, emphasized the need to focus on water supply and infrastructure, calling it the state’s most pressing issue. “The job is so big now, with the water crisis, we have to get the right people employed,” Clayton said, pushing for aggressive recruitment efforts.

Clayton argued that water should be the top priority for New Mexico’s workforce, declaring, “That’s the workforce that has to sustain the state.”

The governor’s latest executive order comes on the heels of a broader statewide workforce plan that identified construction, the energy transition, and so-called “climate resilience” as key areas of focus for the future.

According to Nair, Workforce Solutions is working with local development boards, tribal communities, and prison reentry programs to broaden access to these eco-left-driven job programs. Some federal grants have emphasized equitable access to these jobs, particularly for workers displaced by the transition from fossil fuels, though this transition has already cost many their livelihoods.

The closure of the San Juan Generating Station in 2022, which was demolished earlier this year, resulted in the loss of 450 jobs in Farmington, many of them belonging to members of the Navajo Nation. These traditional energy workers now face an uncertain future as the state continues its pivot toward renewables.

A 2020 study on workforce development acknowledged the potential for new opportunities in the post-pandemic “clean energy” sector but warned of major drawbacks. “It is far from given that these jobs will replace those lost from the transition away from fossil fuels,” the report noted, cautioning that the eco-left industry lacks diversity and may not equitably fill these new roles with local workers unless serious policy changes are made.

Sen. Pat Woods, R-Broadview, pointed out the irony of this shift, noting that much of the funding for infrastructure projects comes from oil and gas revenues. “I am glad the Governor is putting her agencies to work,” Woods said, but he expressed doubt about whether these programs would actually benefit New Mexican workers in the long run.

Gov. Lujan Grisham cares more about abortion than abused children

The safety and well-being of our children are more important to me than being “politically correct” or whatever negative feedback my words here will bring about.

Unfortunately, the opposite is the case for Governor Lujan Grisham. Her administration is more interested in placating their political party than advocating for and protecting the neglected and abused children in our state. Regardless of your personal views on this sensitive subject, no one can deny that New Mexico is the worst state to be in for disadvantaged children. We have the worst child well-being rating in the nation in large part due to the administrative failures of the Children, Youth, and Families Department (CYFD).

Earlier this month, the Governor celebrated the new construction of a $10 million abortion clinic in Las Cruces primarily targeted at Texas mothers. That same week, the Albuquerque Journal reported the shocking cost of  CYFD’s wrongful death lawsuit settlement payouts. Your tax dollars have paid out $21 million to families of children harmed or killed under the department’s watch in the last three years. This has been an exponential increase over recent years, and yet, no solutions have been supported to allow for true departmental reform.

Consider the sum of those amounts—that is, $31 million of your tax dollars being spent to advance the political agenda of our Governor while also obscuring her failures while in office. The people of our state, and particularly our at-risk kids, cannot afford to spend another dime protecting the legacy of this administration for her to get a promotion at the end of her term. Let me be clear: this is a leadership failure. The hardworking employees at CYFD have tough and oftentimes thankless jobs; it is not their fault the department they work for has a 34% vacancy rate, it’s not their fault children in the system are still sleeping in office buildings, and it’s also not their fault that employees are overworked and underpaid. These sad realities are the result of mismanagement and a lack of care from the Governor and her executive staff.

Regardless of your political affiliation or personal beliefs, each and every New Mexican, especially New Mexican parents, should be ashamed of our leadership, our failed track record, and our continual downward path as a state when it comes to protecting our vulnerable and neglected children.

New Mexican’s “reproductive health” rights are some of the most protected, unrestricted, and available in the nation. Should our focus really be in this direction? The environment we provide for our children is the worst in the nation. Yet, in the decade I have been in the Roundhouse, all we have seen are empty promises of reform. Our case workers are doing all they can, but without support from the administration, they will continue to run up against a brick wall and burn out quickly.

We must get serious about reform. New Mexico is again ranked the worst in the country according to the thorough “Kids Count” research project provided by the Annie E. Casey Foundation. We are failing our children and at the same time prioritizing all the wrong things; with neglected and vulnerable children being the ones who pay the price.

Enough is enough, we must hold our elected officials accountable. The statistics and balance sheets don’t lie, the Governor and Democratic majorities in the State Legislature have (much like our public school students) failed. Keep this in mind this November. I hope, for the sake of our children, our state heads in a different direction.

State Sen. David Gallegos represents New Mexico Senate District 51 in the Legislature, previously serving in the New Mexico House of Representatives. He is also a school board member for Eunice Public Schools.
