Democrat anti-gun Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has decided to extend an executive order declaring “gun violence” a public health emergency. The renewal, effective until December 29, 2023, underscores the governor’s attacks on lawful New Mexico gun owners’ rights.
Governor Lujan Grisham’s executive orders mandate collaboration among the Department of Health, Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Department of Public Safety, and Health Care Authority. While the renewal doesn’t introduce any alterations to the existing orders, it does maintain the current public health directives banning guns in parks, among other measures.
A notable absence during the signing was the governor herself, with Lt. Gov. Howie Morales taking on the responsibility in her absence. The decision to renew these executive orders comes at a time when gun control measures are a subject of intense debate across the nation.
New Mexicans who follow the Constitution note that executive actions infringe upon individual rights and bypass legislative processes designed to ensure democratic decision-making, along with total ignorance of inalienable constitutional rights. Moreover, concerns have been raised about the effectiveness of labeling “gun violence” as a public health emergency and whether it is the most appropriate approach to tackling the complex social issues associated with it.
The governor promised to provide updates on the progress of initiatives addressing gun violence later this month. The orders, however, have produced no tangible changes to protect New Mexicans.
As Lujan Grisham continues her attacks on gun rights, the ongoing debate surrounding the governor’s executive orders is likely to persist in the next legislative session, with discussions centering on impeaching the governor for violating her oath and far-left Democrats seeking to take away New Mexicans’ rights.
I hope and pray that something or someone will stop this Hitler-esque governor that the state of New Mexico has been cursed with. Constitutional LAW isn’t a “debate.”
You either get enough states to amend it, or you abide by it. She has chosen to violate it. By doing nothing to protect the people from a law-breaker in Santa Fe, all Sheriffs in NM have shown the people that laws are null and void and they won’t enforce Constitutional law with action.
Not all sheriffs in NM. We have several who have told her point blank that they will NOT violate their oath or the Constitution.
Many politicians grace this nation with their agendas; good, bad or ugly, but the governor of our great State is really looney tunes. She’s concerned about guns, I’m more concerned about the looney ones who should not have possession of a firearm. Guns in the wrong hands will always be a challenge for law enforcement, but the law abiding citizens should not be punished. The Rights of Self Defense are a NATURAL LAW, a God Given Right that has nothing to do with government and requires no license or permission from any government paid stooge or flunkey.
The Bill of Rights are LIMITS ON THE GOVERNMENT. The Bill of Rights confer nothing to We the People because our right to self defense is GOD GIVEN NATURAL LAW and cannot be limited by the government by any edict, mandate, executive order or whatever they want to call it.
Re-read the Constitution and The Bill of Rights and use the brains God gave you because the government has been playing word games with us for years!
This “order” by Her Thighness has no authority of law and is owed no deference. The Sheriffs who refuse to enforce her ban are on the right side of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. It remains to be seen if they will enforce all the other unconstitutional laws that have piled up over centuries.

No offense but you are wrong. I go to Church weekly and registered. God does not promote any Catholic, Christian, or Atheist to carry a firearm. It is not a God given right. You are right it is a constitutional and civil right as well as an amendment. FYI I have many firearms . Like you I don’t like having Government throwing gun laws on me and not criminals who won’t even observe her laws . Also I’m not cool with draconian Abortion laws. Howie no doubt hurt himself politically with his former constituents in Grant County where he served as state senator before running for Lt. Gov. A sizable majority of Democrats in this county appreciate and support gun ownership and gun rights.

MLG is going to rule NM with Executive orders. She stated in a recording that she can create as many executive orders as she wants. It was very clear in the video that she didn’t care how we felt about any executive orders she intends to put out. I suspect many to come out in the near future with her new dictator mentality way of running our state. She has gotten 3 new factories to build in NM. Makes you wonder what is in it for her.
