On Friday, the Santa Fe New Mexican’s Daniel Chacón tweeted that scandal-ridden alleged serial groper Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s lavish wedding planned for Saturday is still a go.
The nuptials will happen in Washington, D.C., and Kamala Harris will officiate.
Chacón wrote, “@GovMLG is in Washington, D.C., and will proceed with her wedding as planned. The Saturday ceremony will be officiated by… Kamala Harris.”
He added, “There was some speculation she would postpone the wedding because of New Mexico’s wildfires, but her office said the wedding is on.”
The wedding comes as New Mexico is being ravaged by forest fires, including the Hermits Peak/Calf Canyon fire, which is the largest in state history at 303,000 acres.
Just yesterday, Lujan Grisham said the fires could engulf over 1,000 homes while displacing around 10,000 people. The Governor added that “given the nature of this fire … I don’t think it’s an exaggeration.”
But despite the crises in New Mexico, Lujan Grisham appears to be putting her wedding in Washington, D.C. first. Lt. Gov. Howie Morales is presumed to be in charge while the Governor is away.

In this age of instant communications, it doesn’t matter where the Governor or the President is physically located. They can still carry out their duties and functions. Unless you expect our Governor to suit up and staff the fire lines, let her enjoy a brief respite for her wedding! She convinced the administration to make a Federal disaster declaration before the disaster ended. This is unheard of. Give her credit where credit is due.
I agree with you completely. I think she is a great governor — I appreciate her handling of covid, the fires, and now sending relief checks to New Mexicans.
Weddings lavish or not usually take weeks and months of planning ahead of time which are not easily changed or postponed…I’m sure the running of New Mexico’s government is in good hands until she returns. So many biased opinions out there, truly 😞 saf
The Governor continuing on with her wedding or not will not change the impact of the wild fires. I have no doubt she is in instant communications with those in charge. Her not having her wedding would cost her thousands of dollars out of her pocket and keep her from getting married. She can’t control Mother Nature she can only do what the entire Country is doing and that is praying that everyone is safe. Property is not a priority in situations like this!

Those relief checks are coming out of your taxes, idiots! Her handling of covid that destroyed 600 small businesses and ruined careers and educations? As to her wedding, she and Manny drank top shelf booze and feasted on steak while a lot of New Mexicans were unemployed and locked down. She lived like Marie Antoinette. Explain how she “deserves” this wedding. The state is having issues…as a public servant, your needs come last to that.

I like our Governor and the way she has handled stuff. The pandemic, getting help for the fires, and aid for New Mexicans. The only thing republicans want to do is cut taxes for the rich, punish people coming here as refugees, and punish women for the audacity of wanting to control their bodies and destinies.
