Albuquerque
As New Mexico’s largest city, Albuquerque has enacted policies that restrict local law enforcement from collaborating with federal immigration enforcement. This approach is designed to foster trust between immigrant communities and city officials. However, non-compliance with federal deportation initiatives could jeopardize substantial federal funding.
While exact figures are not publicly disclosed, Albuquerque receives significant federal grants for various programs, including public safety and community development. Loss of these funds could adversely affect essential city services.
“I’ve seen the Trump show before and, more than most cities, we are prepared and I am prepared to stand up for the City of Albuquerque,” vowed far-left Democrat Mayor Tim Keller, when asked about the sanctuary city policy.
