Alec Baldwin gets off scot-free of criminal charges from deadly ‘Rust’ shooting

Alec Baldwin’s attorneys have revealed that criminal involuntary manslaughter charges against the actor stemming from the fatal October 2021 Rust shooting resulting in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins will be dropped.

“We are pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin and encourage a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic incident,” attorneys Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro said in a statement.

Set armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed still faces charges connected with the shooting, although attorneys are confident those charges will also be dropped.

“We fully expect at the end of this process that Hannah will also be exonerated,” her attorneys, Jason Bowles and Todd Bullion say.

“A third person involved in the on-set catastrophe, assistant director David Halls, previously pleaded no contest to a single count of petty misdemeanor negligent use of a deadly weapon. He had handed the gun to Baldwin before it was fired but neglected to make sure the gun didn’t hold live bullets,” according to the New York Post

Hutchins’ family’s attorney said it was “clear what happened.”

Baldwin “had the gun, he says he pulled the hammer back, it fired, and she was killed. … The experts will look at it and make any determinations, but we don’t think this was caused by any defect in the weapon.”

A wrongful death lawsuit filed by Hutchins’ family, Baldwin rejected, arguing the family was being “misguided.”

Rust has since resumed filming this week at a new location in Montana. Baldwin is both starring in and producing the film.

  1. NEW Mexico, that’s with a Capital “C” for corruption. We own it here in the “Land of Enchantment.” As past ABQ. Mayor Marty Chavez used to say: “It’s all OK until you get caught.” Even that does not work in this case. We are LAWLESS!!!!!!!!!

    1. Unless it’s a victimless crime then they go at innocent people with aggression but then let criminals where there were victims they get off either Scott free or a slap on the wrist and people seem to be ok with this. So it’s ok to impose someone’s moral views on people doing no harm calling them criminals but the actual criminals are able to do anything.

  2. I’m surprised this went on this long. The Uber Libs of the fe aren’t gonna let one of their Socialist Scumbag Heros get hurt. The Demorats of nm will always protect one of the Cabal. I can’t care about these WEASELS…

    1. Powerless? Ensuring all weapons and ammunition on the movie set was the number one priority of her job as armorer. She is rightfully the primary target of the prosecution.

  3. The second-best defense after “I didn’t know the gun was loaded” is “I didn’t pull the trigger.” Our ultra-progressive District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies, now has two high-profile progressive notches on her belt; allowing perpetrators of the destruction of the Obelisk on the Plaza to get away with just a good talking to, and now a high-profile manslaughter charge dropped.

I want to know what’s going on with the SNAP Benefits here in NM. I suspect the delay is fishy and may even be criminal. Maybe we the EBT cards in NM will morph into some kind of Central Bank Digital Control device. It’s bad enough spike proteins are being shot into vegetables and animal meat.
I don’t have the means or skills to check this out, but you probably do.
    Thanks,
    Kathairein

  5. He’s a Hollywood POS. All I know is that if I shot a friend or coworker “accidentally,” I’d be trying desperately not to shoot myself. Because I have ethics and a moral compass that tells me not to kill others, even if I don’t like them. What did he do? He was on the phone minutes after it happened with his lawyer, trying to save his ass. Halyna was allegedly working on a documentary that exposed underage trafficking among the elite. So she had to be silenced. And her husband? He accepted “producer credits” instead of insisting on justice. He’s just as big of a POS as Alec.

This is just another example of lawlessness in New Mexico. And why does it continue? Because the public does nothing. People complain about it…but have any of you called the DA’s office to voice your opinion? How about writing a nasty letter to the SAG and other acting organizations? I have…but few others will or did.

  6. Up next: Baldwin Vs. State of NM, County of Santa Fe ref false arrest, malicious prosecution, defamation of character, etc.

    1. Defamation of character??
The guy is a racist, homophobic shit bag. Who has doxxed and threatened people online.
I hope someone in NYC throws a brick at his head. He exploits his white, rich man privilege all over the place.

  7. Perhaps there was pressure from the political cabal to drop charges in an attempt to keep the film industry from fleeing New Mexico?

  8. Life today is an inverted upside down world but at least some of us can still see the difference. It’s our work to continue to stay grounded in the moral values we know to be true and resist any sway toward the satanic lifestyle of the left.

  9. 3 idiots who failed common sense -let alone gun safety. AND Baldwin you are guilty of neglect just like the other two. The armorer -FAIL -you didn’t clear the gun(s) and left them unattended. Associate director/producer -FAIL -you didn’t clear the gun before handing it to Baldwin–biggest question is .How long did it take you to retrieve the gun? –out of sight of others mind you – ..that’s a BIG HMMMMM.. And Baldin – FAIL,FAIL,FAIL!! – you DIDN’T clear the gun before pointing it at a living person!!! NEGLECT by each and every one of you!
