On Friday, New Mexico legislative Democrats rammed through many extreme bills during the last full day of the 2023 Legislative Session.
Some of these bills included:
S.B. 53: Trying to preempt Holtec from building a nuclear storage facility in southeastern New Mexico. Democrats, including sponsor Rep. Matthew McQueen (D-Santa Fe, Sandoval), erroneously claimed the company would make the state the “dumping ground” of spent nuclear fuel but failed to talk about how safe the facility is or the vast economic opportunities its location in the Land of Enchantment would be. It passed on a mostly party-line 35-28 vote. It was quickly signed by Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.
S.B. 13: The chamber endorsed the radical bill that would censor pro-life speech and ban extradition of criminal abortionists who break the law in other states passed the House despite bipartisan opposition and a lengthy three-hour debate. It passed 38-30, with six Democrats joining all Republicans in opposition.
S.B. 468: The bill declaring a state holiday for the radical far-left labor activist Dolores Huerta passed the House by a vote of 50-10.
S.B. 426: The bill creates a new civil rights division in the Attorney General’s Office that will cost New Mexicans millions over the next three-year period. Its creation was because of the state’s Civil Rights Act which attacks local government and police departments by opening the door to floodgates of frivolous lawsuits.
All anti-gun bills other than H.B. 9, which would mandate the locking up of firearms, appear to be dead as both houses of the legislature speed ahead toward a 12:00 noon adjournment on Saturday.
One key item of legislation, H.B. 547, a tax package that could raise taxes by over $114 million annually, is still up in the air due to the House and Senate not agreeing on the bill’s provisions. It could pass on Saturday if both chambers agree with changes made in a conference committee.
There have been rumors Gov. Lujan Grisham is thinking about a special session, but news of such a move would likely only be known following the end of the current session.
They should open up the oil fields for the economy instead of dumping nuclear waste in our state. Too many greedy accidents can jeopardize the health of our state. We are already a dumping ground for so called “Green Energy” turbines and 500 KV power lines that are going to run through our beautiful state and rural areas to transport energy to California. This is destructive to the environment and health of those who live nearby. I’d like to see them put in Sant Fe. We are a dumb a.. state so why wouldn’t anyone attempt to use us as a waste facility.
New Mexicans are already overtaxed in my opinion. Other types of revenues should be found. I see wasteful spending at state run facilities and then hear there is no money for other things needed. We need real people in the Round House, not self centered idiots.
I want to know. How much are they getting paid?
If they are being paid more than a penny, it is too much.
I have never seen so much GARBAGE inflicted on a state by its some of its citizens! You can’t even explain to them just how insane their legislation is! But, hey!, we’ve got the all-important “gender-affirming” treatment available!
Santa Fe is the most evil place I’ve ever witnessed in my lifetime. Every single day I can’t believe the unGodly insanity that the political whores in Santa Fe are pushing through in their legislation. They are criminal Communist enemies. Anti-American, anti-New Mexican, and they all deserve to be arrested.
Why are they allowed to continuously destroy everything human and productive by the people of New Mexico with little to no pushback from our Counties and local governments? Our local governments need a kick in the rear to start representing us and pushing back against Communism!!!

Is anyone in the NM state government qualified to address nuclear waste storage? In ten years they may be able to turn it into gold, but we just don’t know. Also, part of our state gets nuclear power from Arizona, so why shouldn’t we take responsibility to store the waste (and get paid)? But this isn’t a responsible government, whether it’s irresponsible sex, forgiving serial pedophiles, killers, and rapists; killing viable fetuses, or making our citizens (and non-citizens) pull their own weight. I do love this state and most of its citizens, but this government has to go.

The same criminals keep getting elected and elected and elected. But as long as they keep giving the welfare leeches free everything they are going to get elected. The socialist democrats are destroying our state and country and these criminals don’t care. We need new people who are committed to the people of this country and not to their wallets.
One of the reasons that New Mexico is at or near the bottom of most performance metrics is because our government representatives make it that way.
