Senator Dianne Feinstein has passed away at the age of 90, marking the end of a long political career and leaving open a hotly contested 2024 U.S. Senate race in the process. Born Dianne Goldman in San Francisco in 1933, she served as the first woman president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, the first woman mayor of San Francisco, and one of the first women elected to the U.S. Senate from California.
She began her political journey in 1960 when then-Gov. Pat Brown appointed her to the California Women’s Parole Board. In 1969, at the age of 35, she won a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, marking the beginning of a long and impactful career in politics.
As mayor of San Francisco, Feinstein faced numerous challenges, including the tragic assassination of Mayor George Moscone in 1978.
In 1992, she was elected to the U.S. Senate from California. During her time in Congress, she chaired the Senate Rules Committee and the Senate Intelligence Committee.
While Feinstein received praise for her accomplishments from the far left, she faced criticism at times, particularly from within her own party. In 2020, some Democrats criticized her for appearing too cooperative with Republicans during the confirmation hearings for Justice Amy Coney Barrett.
In her later years, concerns were raised about Feinstein’s mental fitness, given her status as the oldest sitting member of Congress. In February 2023, at age 89, she was hospitalized with shingles, and shortly after, she announced her decision to retire from the U.S. Senate when her term concluded in 2024.
Feinstein’s retirement was met with an emotional response from her colleagues, with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer noting the standing ovation she received, highlighting the widespread respect and admiration for her contributions to American politics.
Democrat U.S. Reps. Barbara Lee, Adam Schiff, and Katie Porter are all running for the seat, and many had previously demanded Feinstein resign months ago, but the senator refused. California Gov. Gavin Newsom only pledged to nominate a black woman if Feinstein vacated the seat. Lee would be the only current congressional representative that fits that bill.

She was a trator to the American people
Glad to see her gone for good! Traitor
I suspect Newsom will appoint Rep. Barbara Lee to finish Feinstein’s term. Lee is just another leftist from California.
I have a real problem with this. This is an ELECTED position. When a legislator dies or becomes unable to serve, the correct thing to do would be to hold a Special Election and have THE PEOPLE vote on who the replacement should be.
I’ll never forget when her constituents ask what was she going to do about the homelessness in San Francisco. Her reply was, (loosely), not her problem, it was the mayor’s problem. It’s obvious we need age and term limits. Too many in congress are so bloated with ‘power’ they do not live in the real world where the rest of us have to put up with them ignoring ‘we the people’. Obviously, WE are still working for THEM. Bet if we the people voted on national budget, our rulers would not be happy with the results.
Made my day.
Celebrating a persons death is rude, cruel and doesn’t belong in a public forum.
Have some decency.
Let’s focus on the reality that Gov. Newsom believes that having black skin and a vagina are qualifications for a job. I call THAT racist and sexist, and a far more relevant topic of note.
For 50 years she has helped destroy our great Republic and the once great State of CA. I am glad she is gone. I hope she suffered; The only problem is her replacement will be just as bad if not worse. May she rot in Hell. People tell me not to be so cruel. Considering what she did to my country, I say she will never suffer enough. I will take my chances in the hereafter.
My husband lived under Democrat rule in CA for 34 years. Feinstein, Boxer and Pelosi = The Unholy Trinity. He IS celebrating and he has every right to. Those three “ladies” destroyed CA and paved the way for the leftist shithole it is now. And does anyone remember how a serial killer was able to evade police and kill 2 more people because Feinstein felt sensational and blabbed unreleased police clues to the press? She should have seen legal consequences for that. PEOPLE. DIED. Just like our current governor being responsible for 8 deaths at Fort Bayard….if people die because of decisions you made, you have no business being in public office, because clearly, you aren’t making good choices.
There needs to be TERM LIMITS. That isn’t just in California but across the board. Anyone who holds an office for more than 4 years starts to live a different reality than their constituents. They learn and are incentivized to make decisions that favor their backers and special interests. No, they should be required to live under the decisions they made that affect the common person.
While she was an awful senator and should have been gone a long time ago, I pray for her family nevertheless. Not sure if she was a believer or not, so her soul will be judged by God on Judgement day.
California is run by corrupt Democrats and hope that those who should be removed from office will happen in 2024. I used to live in CA and saw its downfall before I left in 2011. Sad to see such a beautiful state ruined by greedy corrupt people. They too will be judged by God on the day of Judgement.
While she was an awful senator and should have been gone a long time ago, praying for her family for their loss. Not sure if she was a believer or not, but by her actions, that is in question. Her soul will be judged by God on Judgement day.
Who ever Nuisance put in her place will be corrupt as the rest of the Democrats. There is so much corruption in the. leadership and the state has gone downhill in many of its cities. The Democrats run the state, and until they are removed, nothing will change in CA. I lived there for 60 years and left in 2011 and it’s gone down hill substantially since then.
I do not have any sympathy for her or her family. She helped destroy our Republic and may she rot in Hell.
Wish she had taken Schumer, Pelois, Nader, Biden, Obama, Michelle, McConnel, and all the other worthless pieces of sh#t with her!
I agree 100% !!!!
Watch out, here comes Michelle Obama!
Finally! Good riddance!!! Perhaps the next one who has been voted into office for years on end will be Pelosi.
